High Alert
KAMPALA: Ugandan security forces have been put on high alert to avert any spillovers from opposition-led protests in neighbouring Kenya. One person is said to have been killed during the protests which have also rocked Senegal, South Africa, Nigeria and Tunisia over the same economic hardships.

Kenya opposition leader Raila Odinga, who narrowly lost last year's presidential election to President William Ruto organised the protests that brought business to a standstill in Nairobi CBD.

Crime
PAKISTAN: Gunmen killed 11 people including a prominent local politician in northwest Pakistan, police said Tuesday, an ambush blamed on a decades-long vendetta between families.
Inter-family feuds are common in Pakistan, but in the mountainous northwestern region where communities abide by traditional tribal honour codes they can be particularly protracted and violent.

Police said 42-year-old Atif Munsif Khan, leader of a district council in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, was killed on Monday night in the town of Havelian, 33 kilometres (20 miles) north of Islamabad.

Mr Murdoch added that he proposed to Ms Smith on St Patrick’s Day, noting that he was “one fourth Irish” and had been “very nervous”.
