A group of Rubanda residents have turned on their district woman MP Prossy Mbabazi Akampurira the Shs400 million "service award" she received as a parliamentary commissioner.
Until the new development, Mbabazi, Solomon Silwany (Bukooli County - NRM), and Esther Afoyochan (Zombo District Woman - NRM) were a giant umbrella of zero scrutiny especially from their ruling party.
Former Leader of the Opposition Mathias Mpuuga received all the flak for the Shs500m he negotiated on May 6, 2022.
But now the voters of Rubanda appear to have decided to touch the political dial in Ms Mbabazi's face with the wrath of an angry taxpayer.
The angry residents expressed their emotions on a protest, displaying placards bearing their feelings.

President Yoweri Museveni has pledged to provide financial support to the judiciary towards rejuvenating the traditional methods of dispute resolution as opposed to the colonial way of litigation.
The President’s promise was contained in a message delivered by Vice President, Jessica Alupo while officiating at a two-day Africa Chief Justices’ summit on Alternative Dispute Resolution in Kampala on Tuesday.
Museveni said the African Traditional way of resolving conflicts is cheaper, and timely and leaves warring parties contented as opposed to prolonged processes.
Some studies have found that the customary justice system offers a big advantage over the state judicial system in terms of physical access and costs.
According to the President, there is a need to formalize Alternate Dispute Resolution mechanisms to clear case -backlog.
On his part, Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny-Dollo noted that only five percent of Ugandans can access the Court adding it is high time that African courts embrace Alternative Dispute Resolution for its overwhelming benefits including promoting communal peace.
He has given an example of the war-torn Northern Uganda where guns stopped 18 years ago but the formal justice system has done nothing to bring justice and healing to the society which up to date seeks reconciliation for the atrocities mounted against them by the LRA.
The Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny-Dollo says Uganda’s Judiciary may not address the ever growing system of case backlog by only using the courts of law.
He made the revelation during the ongoing two-day Africa Chief Justices Summit on Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) organized by the Judiciary at Mestil hotel in Kampala.
The summit is being attended by about 300 officials including; several chief justices on the African continent, justices, African judges, ADR practioners, professional associations like Uganda Law Society, East African Law Society, Association of lawyers and government ministeries among others.
The summit aims at finding a quicker and more peaceful way of settling disputes which in the end reduce case backlog and also provide an opportunity to the African judiciaries to interrogate different ADR forms as they speak to different litigants who seek resolutions for the ever growing disputes.

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos took back his spot as the world’s richest man on Monday, dethroning Elon Musk on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
Bezos’ net worth stands at $200 billion, according to the tracker, surpassing the Tesla chief’s $198 billion.
Musk, who also heads X (formerly Twitter) and SpaceX, has seen his riches fall by more than $30 billion as Tesla’s share price has dropped 25 percent in recent months.
Adding to Musk’s woes, a court in January approved the annulment of his enormous Tesla compensation agreement, worth $55.8 billion and originally struck in 2018.
Bezos, who no longer runs Amazon, has meanwhile benefited from the ecommerce giant’s rising stock price.

Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago has expressed his full support for the Copyright Amendment Bill. However, he raises concerns about the divisions within the music industry that may hinder its progress.
One of the major challenges faced by artists is the lack of understanding of their own value. Many artists are vulnerable to exploitation due to limited knowledge about their rights and the importance of copyright protection.
Lawmakers have voted against a government Bill intended to dissolve the National Information Technology Authority Uganda and move its functions to the Ministry of Information, Communication, Technology and National Guidance.
The National Information Technology Authority, Uganda (Amendment) Bill, 2024, was one of several bills seeking to give effect to the government policy for rationalisation of government agencies and public expenditure adopted by Cabinet in February 2021. Government’s rationale on merging agencies is to ensure efficiency, avoid duplication of services and stop wasteful government expenditure.
