The Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF) said they have arrested one of their own who allegedly shot dead a fisherman involved in illegal fishing.
Fisheries Protection Unit (FPU) spokesperson Lt. Rauben Ndifula on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, said the unfortunate incident happened while the soldiers were conducting an operation on Lake Kyoga, Kitwe landing site.
He identified the arrested soldier as Sergeant Moses Niwagira and the dead fisherman as Charles Wanya.
