Our story began in 2014. Back then we were a roaster and retailer of whole researched graphical content both print and online with a single designer and only running online in Kampala - Uganda.
Today, we are privileged to connect with thousands of customers every day with exceptional service delivery and in more than 20 companies in East Africa.
UPcountry256 derives its name from a local setup far away in the hills and most rural areas of Uganda. Our logo is also inspired by shapes – featuring a palette of the most bright colors.

UPcountry256 went public on July 07, 2015 and opened for operations that first day as an online business without physical location.
UPcountry256 was incorporated under the laws of the State of Uganda, in East Africa, Africa, on Nov. 4, 2018.
Being a Responsible Company
At UPcountry256, we have always believed in the importance of building a great, enduring company that strikes a balance between profitability and a social conscience keeping in mind design problem solving.
It started with our early experiences in the world of design, understanding that our future is inextricably tied to the future of technology, design art and science. We nurtured personal relationships and built a global network of support to create a new wave to elevate design: one that is researched, transparent and good for people. As debates of good and bad design have come up, we have been working to team up design sensitive personnel's to adapt and find innovative solutions to design problems.
Our offices are often the heart of young designers, and we strive to make each one a welcoming and inclusive Third Place. As we have grown, so too has our opportunity to make a positive impact, from creating an online space for design thinkers to making a physical location to allow interactions with clients and to ease design thinking as a team.
Stitching all these efforts together is a common thread – a green thread – one that is woven in the fabric of our company by a number of men and women who proudly sit before their computers. We are dedicated to making our partners proud, providing pay equity and investing in their success through transforming their business. And we are working to hire more design thinkers, mostly the youth and helping them build their futures once they are with us.
As it has been from the beginning, our purpose goes far beyond profit. We believe in the pursuit of doing good in regards to the design world.
