THE MOST COMMON TOMATO AILMENTS + TREATMENTS
1) BLOSSOM END ROT-- If the attachment appears brown and leathery between the size of a dime and quarter, than that Tomato has Blossom End Rot.
TO TREAT--You will have to take all the Tomatoes off the plants that are affected, and dispose of them. If you don't, it will spread and to all of them.
This may result from low calcium levels in the soil, drought stress, excessive soil moisture, and/or fluctuations due to rain or over watering. Lime (unless the soil is already alkaline), composted manures or bone meal will supply calcium.
2) BLIGHT--There are 3 stages of Blight. Early Blight is black and grey spots on the leaves when Tomatoes are young. Southern Blight is black and grey spots by stem and roots of the tomato plant. Late Blight gets out of hand, and is black and grey spots throughout the leaves, vines, and tomatoes.
TO TREAT--The easiest way is to treat it in it's early stages by removing the parts of the Tomato plants that are infected.. If you don't notice it until the later stages of Blight, you will need to buy an anti-fungal treatment, or you can make an organic one from home. however,
3) CATERPILLARS-- They love to feed on Tomato plants, and should be taken care of right away.
TO TREAT--– An Apple Cider Vinegar spray can be used to keep them away. You can also plant French Marigolds by your Tomatoes to help deter from from coming around
4) FRUIT SPLITTING--This can occur when it is dry, and then you get some heavy rains, or most frequently when there is sudden growth in the tomato plant.
TO TREAT--If it occurs early in the Tomato plants growth phase, it can be reversed. Just water and apply nutrients, as normal, so there's no too dry too wet cycle. If it happens near harvest, it can't be reversed.
5) RED SPIDER MITES-- They are hard to spot, and usually are under your leaves. If you notice cobwebs on your Tomato plants, then you definitely have them.

INCREASED MILK PRODUCTION

Balanced Diet: Provide a ration with adequate energy, protein, vitamins, and minerals. Forage should make up the majority of the diet, supplemented with concentrates as needed.

High-Quality Forage: Use high-quality silage, hay, or green fodder. Consider growing nutrient-rich fodder crops like Napier grass, lucerne, or maize silage.

Feed Additives: Use additives like rumen buffers, yeast cultures, and fats to enhance digestion and energy supply.

Water Access: Ensure cows have unlimited access to clean, fresh water as milk is 87% water.

2. Herd Management

Regular Health Checks: Monitor for diseases such as mastitis, lameness, and reproductive disorders.

Heat Stress Management: Provide shade, fans, or sprinklers to keep cows cool during hot weather.

Hygiene: Maintain a clean environment to reduce the risk of infections.

3. Genetics and Breeding

Breed Selection: Choose breeds or crossbreeds that are high milk producers and suited to your climate (e.g., Friesians or Ayrshires in Kenya).

Artificial Insemination (AI): Use semen from bulls with proven genetic traits for milk production and fertility.

4. Milking Practices

Consistent Milking Schedule: Milk at the same time every day to reduce stress.

Proper Milking Technique: Use clean, sanitized equipment and ensure complete milking to avoid mastitis and maintain production.

5. Animal Welfare

Comfortable Housing: Provide comfortable bedding, adequate space, and good ventilation.

Stress Reduction: Avoid overcrowding and handle cows gently to minimize stress.

6. Record Keeping

Keep detailed records of milk yields, feed intake, breeding, and health. Analyze the data to identify areas for improvement.

WHY "KASONGO" WAS COMPOSED.

His real name was Kasongo wa Kanema, died 2 years ago and buried at Lang'ata Cemetery.....

“Kasongo” has been trending but few know the story behind the song.
"Kasongo" was done by the band Super Mazembe, a congolese band that moved to Kenya in 1974. The band members had gone to visit their friend Kasongo in Eastleigh, Nairobi.

On reaching his house, they met Kasongo’s wife and they asked her if he was at home.
Kasongo’s wife welcomed them and told them that she had not seen Kasongo for days.

Back then, there was no internet and it was rare to find someone who owned a phone. They decided to send him a message through music, hoping it would reach him.

The Super Mazembe members started creating a song for Kasongo in his living room, telling him to come home because his wife is worried and she’s looking for him but can’t find him.

They went on to record the song and, as they say, the rest is history.
