📺 Breaking News: Kenya Takes 80% of Uganda's Milk Export

In a recent report by the Dairy Development Authority (DDA), it has been revealed that Kenya has emerged as the top destination for Uganda's dairy and milk exports. According to the 2022/23 Annual Report, Uganda exported dairy and related products worth a staggering Shs976.3b, with a whopping 83 percent of that value going to Kenya.

The products exported to Kenya included butter, cheese, ghee, UHT, yoghurt, and milk powder, showcasing the strong trade relationship between the two East African nations. Despite previous challenges and blockades faced by Uganda's dairy sector, the country has managed to find success in the Kenyan market.

While Kenya remains a key export destination, Uganda has also expanded its reach to global markets such as the US, Egypt, South Sudan, and Tanzania. Additionally, new export opportunities in countries like Algeria and Senegal have provided a boost to Uganda's dairy industry.

The increase in milk production by 37 percent, reaching 3.85 billion litres, has contributed to the growth of Uganda's dairy sector. With improvements in cattle quality and milk productivity, the country has seen a rise in export value from $102.6m to $264.5m.
