Exactly 2 years ago today (22nd July 2020), we unveiled NUP to the Nation. It's been a bumpy ride, but we thank God for what He has enabled us achieve thus far, however little. WHO IS NUBIAN LI

Bukeni Ali aka Nubian Li is a Ugandan recording artist, song composer who has been the FireBase Vice President and next of kin to Honorable Bobi Wine for several years and a political activist.

He has served as a musician under Bobi Wine’s Fire Base Entertainment for a very long time.

Family/Relationships

Bukeni Ali alias Nubian Li grew up under the care of his relatives after he lost his mother in a car accident in 1993.

Nubian Li is married to Mutoni Shiko and together they have 3 children, two girls and one boy.

In 2009, Nubian Li nearly lost his eye and music career when Daphne his ex-girlfriend attacked him in Ange Noir discotheque in Kampala.

“At first I did not feel any pain. When I realized I was bleeding, I thought the blood was from my cheek. I did not think that my eye had been cut. I did not think it was serious until the doctors looked at it. The cornea of my right eye itself had been cut. I was likely to lose my eye if it was not operated on in 24 hours,” said Nubian Li.

Nubian Li stressed that he saw the fight coming but did not think his ex could be that violent. He said he broke up with her because she couldn’t understand the fact that as a singer, he has female fans who always hang around him.

Nubian Li is a People Power/ National Unity Platform (NUP), supporter. He has been remanded to prison together with other NUP supporters until January 19.

Nubian Li and others were arrested and charged with assault of police officers, incitement to violence, malicious damage, doing a negligent act likely to spread infectious disease and inconsiderate use of a public road among other counts they committed on December 31, 2020, at Kibale Village, Buyoga Sub-County, Kalangala District.

The Chief Magistrate’s Court in Masaka granted a cash bail of shs100, 000 and each of the sureties bonded shs5 million non-cash to majority of National Unity Platform (NUP) members and private guards of presidential candidates, Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine.

Nubian, Eddie Mutwe and others were arrested and charged with assault of police officers, incitement to violence, malicious damage.
However, some of the suspects failed to secure court bail because they lacked substantial sureties and additional charges slapped against them and remanded until 19th January 2021.

These included Ali Bukeni alias Nubian Li and Eddy Ssebufu aka Eddie Mutwe, Bobi Wine’s private guard.

Then on Friday 8 Jan 2021, Nubian Li together with others were charged with illegal possession of four rounds of ammunition which is a monopoly of the Defense Forces.

The State alleged that the suspects with many still at large all NUP supporters on January 3, were found in possession of these illegal items at Makerere Kavule Kigundu Zone.

The judgment was passed on Friday when the suspects appeared before the General Court Martial chaired by Lt. Gen Andrew Gutti. The suspects were remanded until January 19, 2021, when they will re-appear for mention of the case.

AS SAID FROM SG NUP

Earlier, we visited Wandegeya Police Station to check on four comrades detained there. The four are Hon. Frank Kabuye, Sekidde Allan,
Katushabe Kenneth and Kabuulwa Muzafaruh. We were happy to find them in very high spirits despite the enormous challenge they are facing. They are strengthened by knowing that they are innocent. We continue to ask for their unconditional release, but to also demand that the authorities will carry out expeditious investigations and find out whoever carried out the heinous crime.
