Just learnt of the violent abduction of our comrade Bobi Young in a drone around Maya. He was waylaid on the road, as he returned from Mbarara and men in plain clothes dumped him into a drone and drove away. Our legal teams have started making inquiries to establish his whereabouts.

As we wait to get details, we continue to condemn these wanton actions by the criminal regime. If any citizen is suspected to have committed any crime, why not summon them or secure an arrest warrant and take them to a place gazetted by law? We shall only restore the dignity of our people by suppressing the gun and exalting the power of the people!

I'm told Speaker Anita Among called some of my committee members to her office and asked them to start a censure motion against me for "indiscipline" and "disobeying" the Speaker's orders. During the Uganda Airlines inquiry, she wrote to me this letter "guiding" me to lock the media out. I wrote back to her expressing my discomfort because there was nothing too sensitive to keep away from the public, besides other entities were also investigated publicly.

From trying to protect them from public scrutiny, to now sitting on the report, one day the truth behind all this will surface!
And by the way, in this letter she appreciated COSASE for the "commendable" work we've been doing, she only changed her mind when I kept asking why the report wasn't given space.

In the meantime, we'll continue with our work as a committee. Next week we embark on an investigation into Parliament of Uganda (The Parliamentary Commission falls under COSASE).

Inciting violence case against Hon. Muhammad Ssegirinya dismissed this morning by the Court at Buganda Road Chief Magistrates Court. The Magistrate ruled that there was no evidence produced to prove that Hon. Ssegirinya committed the offence charged. For sure, even the remaining charges of murder will be dismissed!

The challenge is the amount of time and resources lost on these bogus charges! Their aim is to keep you busy running up and down in different courts while they continue to plunder and oppress our people.

We shall overcome!

What is happening in Soroti is unfortunate and must be condemned by all citizens. The panicky regime is arresting leaders and polling agents to try and ensure Hon. Attan Moses isn't declared winner. The very things they did to us in Kayunga and Omoro! I call upon the people of Soroti to stand firm amidst the ongoing machinations.

I am still disturbed by the events of Friday last week at Makerere University in which a young man, Bewatte Betungura, lost his life. He was reportedly stabbed by unknown individuals at the end of the students' guild presidential campaigns. I send heartfelt condolences to the deceased's family, the UCU fraternity and all those who were affected by this tragedy. May his soul rest in peace.

I also send a message of strength to all students who were injured in the fracas.

To our candidate, comrade Alionzi Lawrence aka Dangote, I know that by now you would be the Guild President-elect of Makerere, and I can imagine how disappointed you feel about the turn of events. Please hang in there. These are the kinds of challenges leaders must endure.

It is very unfortunate that a short while after the incident, police arrested Hon. Frank Kabuye (MP, Kassanda South) and 3 other NUP comrades who remain in detention up to now, long after 48 hours. It is very suspect that these comrades were arrested, especially given that they were found at the University Hospital, simply trying to help the student who later passed on. Our demand is that investigations are expedited, for we know that they will definitely exonerate them.

One of the most disappointing thing about this incident was seeing some people who claim to be fighting for the same objective as us, trying to blame the murder on the NUP camp, even before investigations could start. Well, I was not surprised by this, given that the regime uses every opportunity to divide those who oppose it, and to discredit /NUP as a violent group so as to legitimise its violence and brutality against us.

We are also not surprised that in less than 24 hours of the incident, the regime's functionaries within the University had permanently banned physical campaigns and voting at the University. They also indefinitely suspended the entire student leadership structure both at Guild level and in the students' halls of residence.

Earlier, we visited Wandegeya Police Station to check on four comrades detained there. The four are Hon. Frank Kabuye, Sekidde Allan,
Katushabe Kenneth and Kabuulwa Muzafaruh. We were happy to find them in very high spirits despite the enormous challenge they are facing. They are strengthened by knowing that they are innocent. We continue to ask for their unconditional release, but to also demand that the authorities will carry out expeditious investigations and find out whoever carried out the heinous crime.
