Did You Know Kampala, Uganda's capital
Kampala was originally built on seven hills, earning it the nickname "City of Seven Hills." These hills include Mengo, Rubaga, Namirembe, Makerere, Kololo, Nakasero, and Kibuli. Each hill has historic significance, with sites such as the Rubaga Cathedral, Namirembe Cathedral, and Makerere University, one of Africa's oldest and most prestigious institutions.
The name “Kampala” comes from a Luganda phrase “Kasozi k’empala,” meaning “Hill of Antelopes,” referring to the impalas that once roamed freely in the area.
