KABALE. Kigezi Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) supporters who lean toward the Katonga Road faction have requested Dr. Kizza Besigye (officíal page) during his nationwide consultative tour, to form a new political party ahead of the 2026 general elections.

This request was revealed today 4th April during the consultative meeting held at Hilltop between party delegates from Greater Kabale and Kisoro districts. The move by delegates comes barely a week after their counterparts in Uganda's Busoga sub-region, Mbarara district, adopted the same stance.

The Katonga faction, which broke away from the Najjanankumbi establishment, is led by former party president Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye Kiffefeand Kampala Mayor Erias Lukwago

Accompanied by notable figures such as Buhweju County Member of Parliament, Hon Mwijukye Francis Kabale Municipality Member of Parliament, Nicholas Kamara and Katonga Faction Chairman Wasswa Biriggwa

Kabale and Rubanda districts have reported low turn up in the number of youth that applied to join Uganda Police Force.
On February 7, 2024, police Force released an advertisement inviting applicants age between 18 and 23 years to fill 2500 positions, the application deadline set for February 18th. However only 118 applications were received in kabale and 120 in Rubanda district as comfirmed by Kabale DPC Bakaleke and Rubanda deputy Resident Commissioner Ssewandigi.

Rubanda District Engineer Denis Twesigomwe and District Production Officer Benon Kahangi have been immediately removed from their positions following allegations of financial mismanagement and failure to account for their offices.

This decision was announced today (Tuesday 06.Feb.2024) by Rubanda District LCV chairperson Stephen Kasyaba during the launch of the first-floor construction of Hamurwa Town Council Offices that will accommodate a council hall valued at 97.7 million.

Over Shs12 million was yesterday (Wednesday 27.Dec. 2023) raised by the old students of Kigezi High School Primary, at their reunion, in a move to purchase computers for the school.

The Kigezi High School Primary Old Students’ Association Vice Chairperson, Joseph Tumwine Chaka, noted that their pupils currently lack computer literacy due to lack of computers at the school, adding that they as old students decided to start up a fundraising drive for this project, to ensure quality education.

Kigezi High School Primary, founded by Dr. L. Sharp and AC. Stanley Smith on February 2, 1922 with only 11 boys, currently has an enrolment of over seven hundred pupils, both boys and girls.

Today(24th.Dec.2023) Diocese of kigezi radio in collaboration with program crew have distributed and handed over different Christmas items for the Bible study followers and participants through program that is hosted by Mutabazi Billy and Ahumuza Marion. The winners were able to go home with different gifts like goats , hens, bread , matoke ,capes and Tshirts .
This initiative is supported and funded by well wishers and listeners of the radio. The program is aimed at helping the listeners to learn more about the Bible . A merry Christmas and happy new year.

The Bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi, Rt Rev Gaddie Akanjuna, has challenged Christians to wholeheartedly trust the Lord Jesus Christ’s work in their lives.

He made this call today while preaching during diocesan staff end of the year service held at the diocesan office in Rugarama hill Northern Division Kabale municipality.

Bishop Akanjuna reminded Christians that doubting Jesus Christ and his work in one’s life is unnecessary, urging them to remember what they have achieved in life and be thankful to God. The prelate also encouraged believers to embrace humility, shun a lustful pursuit of personal desires and trust God to exalt them in due time.

Police in Ntungamo District have recorded a murder by stabbing involving Bakasisa Constansio, a 109-year-old female adult and resident of Kahunga 1 Cell, Kahunga Parish.

The perpetrator, her husband, Babiiha Dominic, a 110-year-old male adult residing in the same location, allegedly committed the crime on 14/12/2023 around 8:00 Pm.

The somber report reaching our desk reveals the untimely demise of Nimusiima, a dedicated journalist at Revival Radio 93.2 FM in Mbarara.

Tragically, he was discovered lifeless on Friday morning in his rented residence in Biafra cell, Kamukuzi ward, Mbarara City.

Originally from Ntungamo District, Nimusiima accomplished a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering at Mbarara University of Science and Technology-Official (MUST) this May. His commitment to Mbarara Christian-based radio spanned four months.
