The Right to grow project aimed at fighting against mal-nutrition and improving access to clean water and proper sanitation and hygiene was launched by Hunger Project Uganda, an international Non-Government Organization-NGO in partnership with Kabale district local government aiming to achieve the sustainable end of hunger and poverty.

The “Right 2 grow project”, is a global program being implemented in several African countries, like Uganda, Mali, South Sudan, Tanzania, Ethiopia and Bukinafaso among others with funding from the Netherlands.

He said that once the households are empowered, they can address the issue of Hunger and malnutrition.

He said that to ensure food security, the issue of land Fragmentation, declining soil fertility and rampant soil erosion and Landslides by embracing soil restoration practices, kati kanchingo and manuring must be much emphasized.

“Uganda is endowed with good climate, fertile soils and hardworking People. It is possible to have a Uganda with zero Hunger and Malnutrition” Bahati asserted.

He appealed to the local government staff and civil society Organizations working in the district to sensitize households on nutrition and good farming practices so as to secure the future of people.
The Country Director for Hunger Project Uganda, Dr Daisy Ndikuno Owomugasho said in Uganda, the program has been being implemented in only 10 districts including Mpigi, Butambara, Wakiso, Kiboga, Kyankwanzi, Mbarara, Kiruhura, Iganga, Mbale and Nwoya, but Kabale, Maracha, and Bugweri districts have also been considered.
