Basoga Baino FM (BABA FM) is a radio station broadcasting on 87.7. It was set up by the Busoga Kingdom to address issues of ordinary people living in Busoga region and its surrounding districts through Entertainment, Mobilisation, Education and Effective communication programming. It broadcasts in 3 languages mainly; Lusoga, Luganda and English.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni says Supreme Court judges decided wrongly on the matter of civilians not being tried by the Military Court Martial!

He added that some cases like r**e, corruption etc are tried in Military Courts to protect the institution of the Army while the guns armed illegal operators should be tried, initially, in Military Courts to protect the Society.

"The country is not governed by the Judges. It is governed by the People, all of us Ugandans, that are old enough to vote!" Reads part of the statement

All charges involving Civilians in the General Court Martial must cease.

Justice Persy Night Tuhaise recommends that all the prosecution of criminal offenses should be done by the DPP. She asserts that Justice cannot only be done but also seen if the members of the General Court Martial hold qualifications in legal matters and therefore, pronounces the General Court Martial incompetent to handle judicial matters.

She concludes that the Appeal fails and awards costs to the respondent Michael Kabaziguruka.

Lady Justice Elizabeth Musoke: The General Court Martial is limited to hearing matters of the UPDF, and has limitations like lack of independence and lack of training of its members in legal matters.

- General Court Martial is not a subordinate Court.
- The General Court Martial is limited to sanction disciplinary cases of only members of the UPDF.
- Where the General Court Martial observes that the case is beyond its jurisprudence, it will forward the accused's file to the Office of the DPP to take over prosecution in a civil court.

In the end, Justice Musoke has dismissed the appeal and awarded costs to the respondent, Hon Michael Kabaziguruka.

Justice Catherine Bamugemereire has, in her ruling, suspended all the proceedings ongoing in the General Court Martial after finding it inconsistent with the constitution. She has called for the amendment of the UPDF Act.

She recommends that the arraignment of any soldier who commits an offense to the Civilians should be arraigned in civil courts.

The Ministry of Health through the Permanent Secretary Diana Atwine, has announced an outbreak of Sudan Ebola Virus Disease in Uganda following confirmation from 3 National Reference Laboratories.

“The confirmed case, designated as the index case, is a 32-year-old male nurse, an employee of Mulago National Referral Hospital who initially developed fever-like symptoms and sought treatment at multiple health facilities, including Mulago National Referral Hospital in Kampala, Saidina Abubakar Islamic Hospital in Matugga in Wakiso District, and Mbale Regional Referral Hospital in Mbale City, as well as from a traditional healer” she said

The patient presented with a five-day history of high fever, chest pain, and difficulty in breathing, which later progressed to unexplained bleeding from multiple body sites. The patient experienced multi-organ failure and succumbed to the illness at Mulago National Referral Hospital on 29th January 2025. Post-mortem samples confirmed Sudan Ebola Virus Disease.

Currently, no other health care worker or patient on the ward has presented with signs or symptoms of Ebola.
