Man United CEO Arnold leaves club ahead of Ratcliffe arrival
play

Richard Arnold will leave his role as Manchester United CEO ahead of Sir Jim Ratcliffe's imminent arrival as a minority shareholder.

United released a statement confirming the news on Wednesday afternoon.

"It has been an incredible privilege to serve this great football club for the past 16 years," Arnold said.

"Through highs and lows, the constant has been the dedication of our employees and fans. I would like to thank all of them for their loyalty and commitment, and wish everyone associated with the club the very best for the future."

Current chief legal counsel Patrick Stewart will replace Arnold as interim CEO.

"Together with my leadership team colleagues, my job will be to ensure that the club's foundations remain stable while we embrace changes that can make us stronger over the long term, on and off the pitch, and to support the search for a new permanent CEO," Stewart said.

Ratcliffe's £1.3 billion investment for a 25% stake in the club is close to being finalised.

Sources have told ESPN that football director John Murtough's position is also under threat with Ratcliffe keen to bring in INEOS director of sport Sir Dave Brailsford.

Murtough was appointed in March 2021 and was heavily involved in the decision to bring in Erik ten Hag as manager in 2022. Paul Mitchell is one of the names in the frame to replace him.

Arnold took over the role of United's most senior executive from Ed Woodward in February 2022.

LATEST NEWS, AMOLATAR

The Microsoft support centre-MSC Monday afternoon launched recovery plans for Emyooga loans in Amolatar district.
While meeting the SAACO leaders at Amolatar district education hall this afternoon, the MSC regional manager Ms. Nabadda Mabel explained that a total of more than 1.8 billion shillings have been disbursed to the associations in the two constituencies in the district but no clear records of recoveries are being reflected in SAACO accounts since September this year when the first beneficiaries got the loans.
Moving forward, the team resolved with the SAACO leaders that effective today, no more disbursement of money to associations until clear records of repayment are made.
The district commercial officer and the office of the resident district commissioner-RDC who heads the programme have been directed to recommend for more disbursement only when 60 percent recoveries are met by SAACOS. This she says will be done by monitoring bank statements of the SAACOS.
Ms. Nabadda warned against politicizing the programme, emphasizing that the money government has injected in the programme is a financial business not a political giveaway.
The team also agreed with SAACO leaders that no more disbursement to associations that have pending loans before clearing the same.
Although earlier on SAACO leaders complained of failure by some members of compliance with loan policy, the resident district commissioner Mr. George Williams Wopuwa asked leaders of the SAACO to play by these policies instead of pleasing the members by breaking the laws prescribed for Emyooga programmes.
The meeting also committed leaders to hold meetings to communicate the resolutions of the recovery process to their subscribers.

Amolatar health center IV has operated without an ambulance for the last twelve years.
This was revealed by the LC V chairman of Amolatar district Geoffrey Ocen while presenting the state of the district health services to the Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabanjja at the weekend.
Ocen says Amolatar health center IV last had a government ambulance twelve years ago and since then, they have been facing challenges in transporting patients.
According to him, the district has been relying on private ambulances donated by politicians. He asked the government to consider offering a new ambulance to the district.
Ocen also added that there are nine sub-counties in the district without government secondary schools and five sub-counties without health centers III yet government policy demands that each sub-county should have a secondary school and a health center.
In response, the Prime Minister Robinah Nabanjja said she acknowledged the fact that the district faced a number of challenges brought about by floods.
As a result, Nabanjja says many families in the district could not access social services adding that the government will see how to support the victims of floods.
She noted that education in the district has been affected because schools in the flood affected areas will not reopen because of the floods.
About sub-counties without schools and health centers, Prime minister asked Ocen to write to the government and she will follow it up.

The minister of gender labor and social development has appealed for unity among the leaders of Amolatar.
This follows the shameful talk among the leaders of Amolatar in Akwon sub-county after leaders of Amolatar had asked the prime minister to go and see Amai hospital which is sub-merged by flood.
After the request one mp stood and said Amai is a project for some people saying that there is no need for the prime minster to go and see Amai but instead the prime minister should go and meet the NRM leaders.
This caused a lot of tension between leaders and prompted the prime minister to cancel all her trips.
Betty Amongi in her speech criticizes what happened saying that it was a shaming for the leaders of Amolatar not to speak one language.
Last week the Prime Minister visited Amolatar to access how flood affected the people of Amolatar.
