EDward Gaming players hint at preferred champions for 2021 Worlds skins
Earlier today, EDward Gaming captured the 2021 League of Legends World Championship with a dramatic victory over defending champions DWG KIA. After hoisting the Summoner’s Cup for the first time in the team’s history, EDward Gaming will have the chance to commemorate their victory in the 2021 World Championship with a set of skins that represent their team’s colors in the game.

Worlds skins are a tradition in League of Legends, with the game’s 11 championship teams all having their title runs (and the champions they played during them) celebrated in League. After their win against DWG KIA, EDward Gaming took time in the post-match press conference to reveal which champions they might select to honor this year’s world title with a skin.

Vogue Singapore Presents NFT Collection at OpenSea

Vogue Singapore is displaying a limited edition NFT collection inspired by the New Beginning theme on the OpenSea platform. This is the first digital art auction in the history of the brand. The Vogue Singapore NFT collection was created in collaboration with several digital creators and includes two September covers, RenaiXance Rebirth and Triumphant Awakening, according to the publication. The collection also includes eight digital pieces from the world of fashion, beauty and art. The NFT Limited Collection is inspired by the September New Beginning theme and is available for auction on OpenSea from November 10-13, 2021. The starting price of the lot is 1 ETH. The release notes for the Vogue Singapore NFT collection say, "Art is synonymous with NFT." While the use of NFT by fashion houses and publications is only in its infancy, collectible tokens are more often used as self-PR tools and objects of contemporary art. Vogue Singapore NFT draws the attention of fashion brands to the possibilities of digital transformation in the world of haute couture and art. In October, Italian brand Dolce & Gabbana successfully completed its first ever Collezione Genesi NFT collection auction at UNXD. Additionally, in April, the boom in non-fungible tokens prompted the popular Gucci brand to release its NFTs.

Gov. Chris Sununu announced Tuesday he won't run in New Hampshire's competitive Senate race and will instead seek reelection, dashing Republicans' recruitment hopes in a state seen as a prime pickup opportunity – especially after last week's races in Virginia and New Jersey.
Sununu emerged as a top contender for Republicans to run against Democratic Sen. Maggie Hassan, who is seeking a second term. In her first race in 2016, Hassan defeated GOP incumbent Sen. Kelly Ayotte by just 1,017 votes. That same year, Sununu prevailed over his Democratic challenger by a larger margin of victory.

Sununu acknowledged the urgent and growing calls for him to enter New Hampshire's Senate race and the national implications – increasing GOP odds of regaining the majority in a split 50-50 Senate effectively controlled by Democrats. Republicans only need to flip one seat for the majority but are on defense in a number of states and need to protect at least three open seats being vacated by retiring incumbents, including in Pennsylvania and North Carolina.

"It's clearly seen as one of the best opportunities America has to have a 51st vote to stop Chuck Schumer from implementing what we all see as a losing agenda from America," Sununu said from a Tuesday morning press conference, referencing the Democratic Senate majority leader from New York.

Youngkin’s Victory in Virginia Provides GOP a Blueprint for 2022

The blinking-red alarm that Democrats were worried about in the 2021 off-year elections has gone off.

Fueled by sinking approval ratings for President Joe Biden and seemingly endless congressional squabbling among Democrats over Biden's agenda, Republicans scored a victory in the high-profile Virginia gubernatorial race and were faring much better than expected in the year's other gubernatorial race, in New Jersey.

In Virginia, Republican Glenn Youngkin defeated former Democratic Gov. Terry McAuliffe, with the final margin likely to be around 2 to 3 points once all ballots are counted. That may sound like a close race, but it obscures the sweeping nature of Youngkin's victory.

Biden won Virginia by double digits in 2020. Compared to that benchmark, Youngkin overperformed – and McAuliffe underperformed – almost everywhere in the state.

"Republicans are doing even better in rural areas of Virginia than they did last year, and Democratic advantages in the suburbs are looking to be smaller than they have been in recent elections," says Stephen J. Farnsworth, a political scientist at the University of Mary Washington.

Crucially, while Youngkin still notched wide losses in places that have trended Democratic in recent election cycles, such as Prince William and Loudoun counties near Washington, the Republican made enough incremental gains in those areas that McAuliffe could not overcome Youngkin's big advantages in rural Virginia.

Youngkin's victory was enough to carry the other two Republican candidates for statewide office to victory, flipping the lieutenant governorship and the attorney general's office in addition to the governorship. This means the GOP has enough levers of power to stop, or even reverse, some of the state's recent liberal policy drift.

So what went right for Youngkin?

The national context

Except for 2013 – when McAuliffe won his first term as governor – the party that controls the White House has always lost the Virginia gubernatorial election since the 1970s. Put simply, voters tend to get cranky, and it's easier to mobilize people against the party in power.

A second such win for McAuliffe was not in the cards this year.

"Biden's declining popularity and the perception that Democrats cannot govern effectively in Washington damaged the Democratic brand and was a big drag on McAuliffe's campaign," says Mark J. Rozell, dean of George Mason University's Schar School of Policy and Government. "Democratic enthusiasm was way down this year in Virginia."

Astralis adds K0nfig and blameF to Counter-Strike roster
Duphreeh, Magisk, and zonic are expected to part ways with the team no later than January 2022, when their contracts expire.

After a surprise early exit from the PGL Stockholm Major on Nov. 1, Astralis has made some much-needed changes to its Counter-Strike roster.

The Danish organization has signed Kristian “k0nfig” Wienecke, Benjamin “blameF” Bremer, and head coach Alexander “ave” Held to “revitalize” the team and bring Astralis back to where it “belong[s].”

The players and coach are set to replace Peter “dupreeh” Rasmussen, Emil “Magisk” Reif, and Danny “zonic” Sørensen, who have served as longstanding members of the team, winning multiple Majors tournaments.

They are expected to part ways with Astralis no later than January 2022, when their contracts expire, according to a press release.

“To eliminate the insecurities and ensure the clarity and focus, we need to create the best possible conditions for everybody on and around the team,” Kasper Hvidt, the director of sports at Astralis said. “We add two world-class players and a new, strong coach profile who all bring a lot of energy and motivation to build on the strong Astralis legacy and to be a contender for the biggest titles again.”

K0nfig and blameF, who Hvidt describes as “absolutely world-class,” are already well-established players in the Danish scene, having competed together in Complexity. “In addition to their obvious qualities on the server, they come with a personality, motivation, and energy that will be felt all the way out to the back rows in the biggest arenas,” Hvidt said.

The first matchups of the PGL Stockholm Major playoffs have been determined following the conclusion of the Legends Stage today.

PGL has used the Buchholz seeding to separate teams with the same record in the Legends Stage (two 3-0 teams, three 3-1, and three 3-2) to determine the matchups of the single-elimination playoffs bracket. Natus Vincere (3-0) will face Vitality (3-2), G2 Esports (3-0) will play Ninjas in Pyjamas (3-2), Heroic (3-1) are slated to play Virtus Pro (3-2), and Gambit (3-1) will go against FURIA (3-1).

For the first time since September 2018, a team other than Astralis will be a CS:GO Major champion. Vitality knocked out the Danish team today following a 2-1 win (16-10 on Nuke, 14-16 on Vertigo, and 16-13 on Dust II) in the PGL Stockholm Major Legends Stage.

There was so much on the line for both teams and, as expected, they delivered one of the best matches of the Major so far. Vitality breezed past Astralis on Nuke and could have finished the series on Vertigo. The Danes were up 14-7 on their CT side when Vitality started to string consecutive rounds together and gain momentum. Astralis, though, avoided overtime and tied the series up thanks to a one-vs-won clutch by dupreeh against ZywOo in the last round of regulation.
