Reiki (pronounced "Ray-key") is a Japanese word meaning Universal Life Force. Rei means "Universal" and refers to the spiritual dimension of the soul. Ki means "The vital life force energy that flows through all living things." When combined, it's meaning is "Universal Life Force Energy." A laying-on of hands healing technique thousands of years old, it is thought to have originated as a Tibetan B
uddhist practice that was rediscovered in the late 1800's by Dr. Mikao Usui, a Japanese Buddhist. It is a very simple yet powerful technique that can be easily learned by anyone. The Universe, the space around us, is filled with endless and inexhaustible energy. It is what animates us. Without this energy, you would not be alive and moving around. Reiki is this natural healing energy, and it flows through the hands of the Reiki channel in a powerful and concentrated form. The energy is channeled through the hands of a practitioner into the body of a receiver. Reiki supports medical treatments such as massage, reflexology, acupressure, acupuncture, chiropractic treatments, cranio sacral therapy etc. Reiki brings the body and mind into an even balance and works on all levels: the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual level. Reiki encourages self-healing, strengthens body and soul, opens blocks, balances chakras. It is a channeled healing, therefore the Reiki practitioner's own energies are never depleted. Because the healing Reiki energy is flowing through the practitioner during a treatment, both client and practitioner receive the benefits. For this reason, giving a treatment always increases one's energy while at the same time relaxing and leaves one surrounded with a loving feeling of well-being. Reiki is powerful healing energy and is one of the few forms of healing that can be used for oneself or others. Reiki is not a religion nor does it have any dogma attached. You may have any belief system and enjoy Reiki. It can only be used for the highest good of all concerned. It can do no harm. It only enhances the positive and heals. I feel the need to mention that after having a Reiki session, you could experience some clearing of toxins or old emotions being brought up to be let go and healed. It is best to drink a lot of water for the next several days. Once an individual is attuned to Reiki through initiations, simply place one's hands on oneself, or another person which allows the energy to flow through the individual. It fills the Reiki practitioner's body first and then flows out through the practitioner's hands into the individual who is receiving the session. Reiki is energy from God or Source and is an extremely powerful healing energy. It does not conflict with any other health care, but rather enhances it's results. It does not interfere with traditional medical treatment, but facilitates benefits. Reiki speeds the healing process and provides a source of restoring energy while one is ill, under medical treatment, or in recovery. Reiki is a wonderful tool for use at any time, anywhere, for stress release, pain relief and quick energy. In short, Reiki is a holistic self-help technique for directing natural life force energy.
