Citizens Against Noise Pollution of Trinidad and Tobago (CANPTT) has strongly criticized FireOne CEO Andre Abraham for his dismissive comments on fireworks concerns, labelling them "hypocritical" and harmful to public well-being.

CANPTT argues that fireworks exacerbate noise pollution, distress pets, and disrupt communities, while legislation to regulate their use remains outdated by over a century.

The group demands immediate action from the Attorney General, including strict noise controls, a shift to silent fireworks, and collaboration with stakeholders to balance celebration with safety.

Trinidad and Tobago is on the brink of surpassing its all-time murder record of 605, with the current toll at 599 following three more killings over the weekend.

Criminologists and security experts are sounding the alarm, urging bold leadership and immediate action to address the crisis. Proposals range from improving police detection rates to implementing community-based violence reduction programs and intelligence-driven policing strategies.

“We cannot afford delays. The time to act decisively is now,” emphasized security consultant Garvin Heerah.

Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar has launched a scathing attack on Attorney General Reginald Armour, calling him a “blundering buffoon” following the uproar over a proposed pension clause.

The controversial clause would have disqualified elderly citizens with over $25,000 in savings from receiving their pension. Persad-Bissessar dismissed the AG’s claim that a public servant inserted the clause in error, labelling it “preposterous” and accusing the Government of deliberate deception.

“This Government is broke, and they’ll bring back oppressive measures like this post-election,” she warned.

The former PM highlighted what she called a pattern of incompetence under Armour’s watch, pointing to controversies like the Piarco Airport case, missing legal files, and cyberattack mismanagement.

Persad-Bissessar is calling on citizens to use their power at the polls to remove the PNM.

A deadly fire at the home of a Government MP and Minister in the Eastern Borough of Arima Trinidad and Tobago.

The early morning fire has claimed the life of Minister Lisa Morris Julian.

She was the MP for D'Abadie Omeara and the Minister in the Ministry of Education.

Word of the blaze came earlier today.

It is reported two of the Minister's relatives have died in the blaze, a six-year-old boy and a 23-year-old woman.

The fire and police services are at the scene of the tragedy.

We are told Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley is among those at the scene.

Mrs Morris Julian was a former Mayor of the Borough of Arima.

What a journey! Teddy Jr Mohammed, an 18-year-old former Hillview College student, went from dreading school to dominating the 2024 CAPE exams. He aced Environmental Studies, ICT, Mathematics, and Natural Sciences, clinching an open scholarship and the prestigious President’s Gold Medal for the highest marks in Natural Sciences!

Teddy credits his incredible success to his family’s unwavering support. His dad’s advice about focus and sacrifice, his mom’s dedication to helping him study, and his sister’s constant encouragement were his pillars.

Balancing mental health, physical well-being, and academics was his biggest challenge, but his mantra kept him going: “Success is progress, not perfection.” Now pursuing Medicine at UWI, he’s on a mission to use his love for learning to help others.
