In commemoration of Labour Day and the uprising that took place in 1937, here is a look at our documentary film 'Prepared to Fight' (2012) directed by Tony Fraser and Dion Boucaud.
The documentary is an exploration of the history of the Labour Movement in Trinidad & Tobago from Cipriani and Butler to the MSJ in the People's Partnership. It looks at the influence of Marcus Garvey on the consciousness of Caribbean citizenry that gave rise to the labour revolts in Trinidad and Guyana; the rise of Tubal Uriah Butler and his contribution to the development of the Labour Movement in Trinidad and Tobago.
