GISBIR is participating the Nor-Shipping 2017, which is being held between 30 May-02 June 2017 in Oslo, Norway. Aydın Alaftan, President GISBIR Foreign Relations Commission attended DNV GL Seminar 2020 and Beyond-Playing Your Cards Right at noon and the reception in the evening, which was held by Mrs Marianne Borgen, the Mayor of Oslo.

GISBIR attended The Climate Change Assembly

GISBIR attended Climate Change Assembly which took place at Piri Reis University in Istanbul. Effects of the climate change on the sea, maritime and ships were discussed during the four-sessions assembly.

Suat Hayri AKA, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communication, Metin KALKAVAN, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Prof. Dr. Oral ERDOĞAN, the Rector of Piri Reis University, Orkun ÖZEK, Board Treasurer of GISBIR, Hakkı ŞEN, Chairman of Marine Culture Association as well as students, faculty members, representatives of several instutitions and organizations from maritime sector participated the Climate Change Assembly which took place at Piri Reis University Tuzla Maritime Campus with the sponsorship of GISBIR, Piri Reis University and the Marine Culture Association.

Effects of Climate Change on life, maritime and shipping were discussed in the assembly. Gökhan ABUR from NTV, Fatih Çekirge from Hürriyet Newspaper, Erhan ÖZTÜRK from Sabah Newspaper, Gökhan KARAKAŞ from Milliyet Newspaper and Hasan AYDIN from Fox TV gave a speech during the session of Climate Change Awareness and Influences of Media on society in terms of clean energy.

Orkun ÖZEK, Board Treasurer of GISBIR undertook the moderation of the 3rd session. Elif Gizem ALBAYRAK from GISBIR as well as the representatives from the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communication, the Chamber of Shipping, TURMEPA and TÜRKLİM made presentations. Following the presentations, appreciation plaques were presented to the contributors.

Aydın ALAFTAN, President of GISBIR Foreign Relations Commission, is participating 123th Council Working Party on Shipbuilding (COUNCILWP6) and the Workshop on Maritime Clusters and Economic Challenges of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), which are being held in Paris, France.

Representatives from all around the world such as from Germany, Norway, Japan, South Korea, Portugal and Italy are also present at the OECD meetings.

The Initiation Ceremony of GISBIR to ASEF was held

The Initiation Ceremony of the Turkish Shipbuilders’ Association (GISBIR) to the Active Shipbuilding Experts' Federation (ASEF) was held with international participation in Tokyo, Japan.

In addition to Orkun OZEK, GISBIR Board Treasurer and Aydın ALAFTAN, President GISBIR Foreign Relations Commission, shipbuilding associations and shipowners of the strongest nine countries of the Far East including Japan, China and South Korea, have participatedthe 2nd Assembly Meeting, the 3rd Council Meeting and the 10th Forum of ASEF.

The Initiation Ceremony of GISBIR was held in the morning session in Tokyo, Japan. Shigeru MURAYAMA, the Chairman of ASEF, expressed their appreciationregarding GISBIR Membership to ASEF. Aydın ALAFTAN, President GISBIR Foreign Relations Commission expressed that he felt proud and honored to be accepted as a member to ASEF and also stated that the future co-operations between GISBIR and ASEF will be fruitful for both GISBIR and ASEF and he wished that 2017 will bring prosperity to all of the countries.

GISBIR Accepted as a Member to ASEF

Orkun Ozek, GISBIR Board Treasurer and Aydın Alaftan, President GISBIR Foreign Relations Commission have been participating the 2nd Assembly Meeting, the 3rd Council Meeting and the 10th Forum of ASEF (Active Shipbuilding Experts' Federation) which are taking place in Tokyo, Japan between the dates 6-7 November, 2016. Acceptance of GISBIR Membership to ASEF will be celebrated with a ceremony on 9 November, 2016.

ASEF (Active Shipbuilding Experts' Federation) is an international organization representing the shipbuilding industry and consists of the strongest nine countries of the Far East including Japan, China and South Korea. ASEF possesses a key role in the Far East countries regarding the regulations which are internationally significant and taken by the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
