"Breaking the Chains: Empowering Women Refugees"
On November 25th and 26th, 2024, during the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and as part of the global campaign for the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, Journalists for Human Rights partnered with the Women's Organization for Transitional Justice to host a two-day event in Şanlıurfa, Turkey.
The discussions highlighted the struggles faced by many Syrian refugee women, who are often subjected to increased hardship due to strict traditions and societal norms intensified by war and displacement. These challenges leave women vulnerable to violence, exploitation, and systemic inequality.
The event served as a platform to shed light on these issues, spark conversations, and advocate for tangible solutions to promote gender equality and justice for all women. Together, we stand in solidarity to end violence against women and empower them to build brighter futures. 🌍✨
