🇧🇩 Hundreds of thousands of Bangladeshis attended the janazah (funeral prayer) of Sharif Osman Hadi, one of the strongest critics of India's hegemony in the region and a key leader in the July Revolution that toppled dictator Hasina’s 16-year fascist rule.

This janazah is believed to have been one of the largest in the history of Bangladesh.

Hadi was fatally shot in the head in Dhaka on Friday by an armed member of the pro-India Awami League party. The party’s current leader, Hasina, is hiding in India along with thousands of her affiliated gang members.

Hundreds of thousands of demonstrators have gathered in the streets of Dhaka following the death of Sharif Osman Hadi, a July Revolution leader known for his anti-India stance, at a hospital in Singapore.

Hadi, a young politician who emerged as one of the most influential leaders of the July Revolution that ousted dictator Hasina’s 16-year fascist rule, was shot in the head in Dhaka on Friday by an unidentified pro-Indian and Awami League terrorist. According to some sources, the perpetrator fled Bangladesh and is currently residing in India.

Efforts to silence anti-Indian voices in Bangladesh are neither new nor uncommon. In an earlier incident, university student Abrar Fahad was brutally beaten to death by Awami League terrorists after he criticized India and denounced ousted dictator Sheikh Hasina’s pro-India foreign policy on social media.

Several Bangladeshi army officers were also abducted by Hasina’s government for their anti-India stance—most notably former Brigadier General Abdullahil Aman Azmi and former Lieutenant Colonel Hasinur Rahman—who spent eight and two years, respectively, in secret detention centers and endured unimaginable horrors, brutality, and torture.

Widespread outrage toward India’s hegemonic policies became even more visible in the aftermath of Hadi’s martyrdom.

Shortly after the shooting, several developments unfolded:

🔻 On Sunday, Bangladesh summoned India’s envoy in Dhaka to express concern over reports that fugitive Hasina was being allowed to operate from Indian territory to undermine next February’s national elections.

🔻 Abu Shadik Kayem, Vice-President of the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) and one of the July Revolution’s key leaders, demanded on Monday that the home, law, and foreign affairs advisers resign if the government fails to arrest all those directly involved in Hadi’s shooting and to restore law and order.

🔻 Another July Revolution leader, Hasnat Abdullah, wrote on Facebook: “India: The safe house of terrorists, vote riggers, mafias, and killers.” He also threatened to “cut off the Seven Sisters (Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Tripura) from India.”

🔻 A massive crowd protested in front of the Indian High Commission in Dhaka.

🔻 Enraged demonstrators torched the offices of the Daily Prothom Alo and The Daily Star, accusing the outlets of advancing Indian interests and justifying Hasina’s 16-year dictatorship through pro-Indian narratives.

🔻 At Dhanmondi 32, protesters attacked and vandalized the residence of Hasina’s father, Mujibur Rahman, using cranes. They referred to the site as “the shrine of fascism in Bangladesh.”

🔻 Dhaka University's Bangabandhu Hall has been renamed 'Shaheed Osman Hadi Hall' in honor of the martyred leader; protesters have declared Shahbagh Square—infamously the site where Hasina's fascist regime took root during the 2013 protests—'Martyr Hadi Square' to reclaim its legacy from oppression.

আলহামদুলিল্লাহ, বারটিন ইউনিভার্সিটির থিওলোজি ফ্যাকাল্টির ২০২৪ এর Academic General Assembly Meeting-এ ২০২৪ এর একাডেমিক পারফরম্যান্সের ভিত্তিতে সম্মানিত ভিসি স্যার অধ্যাপক ড. ওরহান ওজুন আমাকে পুরো ফ্যাকাল্টির অর্ধ-শতাদিক তার্কিশ ও বিদেশী শিক্ষকদের মধ্যে প্রথম স্থান অর্জনের ঘোষণা দিলেন, তখন সবার করোতালির মাধ্যমে আমাকে উৎসাহ প্রদান করার সময়টি একাডেমিক জীবনের শ্রেষ্ঠতম মাইলপলক হিসেবে থাকবে। বারটিন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে সহকারী অধ্যাপক হিসেবে যোগ দেয়ার ২য় বছরের মধ্যে আমার এই সফলতা একাডেমিক কাজের উপর আরো দায়বদ্ধতা বাড়িয়ে দিয়েছে। উল্লেখ্য, পুরো ফ্যাকাল্টির একাডেমিসিয়ানদের ২০২৪ সালে হাই ইনডেক্স (স্কোপাস ও ওয়েব অফ সাইন্স) জার্নালে আর্টিকেল প্রকাশ, বই, বুক চ্যাপ্টার, সাইটেশন, আন্তর্জাতিক কনফারেন্সে অংশগ্রহণ, প্রজেক্টসহ একাডেমিক বিষয়গুলোকে বিশ্লেষণ করা হয়েছে।
এছাড়া ২০২৩ সালে বারটিন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের কেন্দ্রিয় গ্রন্থাগারের সংস্থানগুলি সবচেয়ে বেশি ব্যবহার করা শিক্ষকদের মধ্যে ফ্যাকাল্টিতে দ্বিতীয় স্থান অর্জন করেছিলাম। সবার দু’আ চাই, যেন দেশ ও উম্মাহর জন্য কাজ করে যেতে পারি।

আলহামদুলিল্লাহ, কিউএস র‌্যাঙ্কিং-এ ৬০তম বিশ্বের শীর্ষস্থানীয় মালায়া বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের (University of Malaya) এর Afkar: Jurnal Akidah & Pemikiran Islam-এর ২৬তম খণ্ডের ২য় সংখ্যায় আমার সাম্প্রতিক একটি মৌলিক গবেষণা প্রবন্ধ প্রকাশিত হয়েছে।

আর্টিকেলের শিরোনাম ছিলো "The Influence of Sufi-Centric Movements on the Flourishing of Islamic Plurality in the Indian Subcontinent" (ভারতীয় উপমহাদেশে ইসলামিক বহুত্ববাদের বিকাশে সুফি-কেন্দ্রিক আন্দোলনের প্রভাব)। এই জার্নালটি Web of Science এবং Scopus Q1 ইনডেক্সের অন্তর্ভুক্ত, ইসলামিক স্টাডিজ ও থিওলোজিতে বিশ্বের শীর্ষস্থানীয় জার্নালগুলোর মধ্যে অন্যতম। এই প্রবন্ধে দেওবন্দী আন্দোলন, নদভী আন্দোলন, তাবলীগ জামা’আত এবং বেরলবী আন্দোলনগুলোকে সূফী পারস্পেক্টিভ থেকে ক্রিটিক্যালি বিশ্লেষণ করা হয়েছে।
প্রায় আড়াই বছর ধরে এই গবেষণা নিয়ে দিন রাত কাজ করেছি এবং জার্নালের এডিটর এবং রিভিওয়ারদের পক্ষ থেকে অসংখ্যবার রিভিও সম্পাদন করে প্রকাশিত এই প্রকাশনা আমার একাডেমিক গবেষণার ক্ষেত্রে একটি উল্লেখযোগ্য মাইলফলক হিসেবে বিবেচিত এবং এটি আমার পেশাগত উন্নয়নে একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ অর্জন বলে মনে করছি। আশা করি, এই গবেষণা ইসলামিক স্টাডিজ ও থিওলোজির জ্ঞান ভাণ্ডারে একটি মূল্যবান সংযোজন হিসেবে বিবেচিত হবে এবং এ সংক্রান্ত আগ্রহী পাঠকদের জন্য নতুন দৃষ্টিভঙ্গি প্রদান করবে।
Alhamdulillah, my new research article, titled "The Influence of Sufi-Centric Movements on the Flourishing of Islamic Plurality in the Indian Subcontinent," has been published in the 2nd issue of the 26th volume of Afkar: Jurnal Akidah & Pemikiran Islam by the University of Malaya, ranked 60th in the QS World University Rankings. This journal is indexed in Web of Science and Scopus Q1, and is renowned in the fields of Islamic Studies and Theology.

The article critically analyzes the Deobandi, Nadwi, Tablighi Jama’at, and Barelvi movements from a Sufi perspective. After two and a half years of dedicated research and multiple revisions, this publication represents a key milestone in my academic career. I hope it contributes valuable insights to Islamic Studies and Theology, offering a new perspective for interested scholars.

বারটিন ইউনিভার্সিটির ইসলামিক সাইন্স অনুষদকে অনেক ধন্যবাদ জ্ঞাপন করতেছি যে আমাকে The Commission for Internationalization and International Students (আন্তর্জাতিকীকরণ এবং আন্তর্জাতিক ছাত্র কমিশন) এর কো-অর্ডিনেটর (সমন্বয়কারী) হিসেবে নিযুক্ত করার জন্য। এই কমিশনের উদ্যেগে বিদেশী ছাত্র-ছাত্রীদেরকে নিয়ে আমরা একটা প্রোগ্রামের আয়োজন করেছি। এই কর্মসূচির অংশ হিসেবে, আন্তর্জাতিক ছাত্র-ছাত্রীদের পরিচিতিমূলক অনুষ্ঠান এবং বিদেশী ছাত্র ও শিক্ষক উভয়ের মধ্যে সমীক্ষা ফর্ম পূরণ করা হয়। কর্মসূচির লক্ষ্য ছিল অনুষদে শিক্ষার মান উন্নত করা এবং বিশেষ করে তুর্কি, আরবি এবং ইংরেজী ভাষার দক্ষতা বৃদ্ধির জন্য বিভিন্ন পরামর্শ প্রদান করা। এই কার্যক্রমে কমিশনের সমন্বয়কারী আমি, সহ-সমন্বয়কারী ড. কেন্ডা আলতেরকাভি, ড. তারেক মোহাম্মদ এলমোরসি হুসেইন এবং ড. আয়েশে চামুর ছাত্র-ছাত্রীদের সাথে বিভিন্ন বিষয়ে আলোচনা করেন এবং মতবিনিময় করেন।

İslami İlimler Fakültesi Uluslararasılaşma ve Uluslararası Öğrenciler Komisyonu tarafından, 27 Aralık 2024 Cuma günü saat 11:00’de fakültenin zemin katında yer alan toplantı salonunda, fakültede öğrenim gören uluslararası öğrencilere yönelik bir program düzenlenmiştir.
Program kapsamında, uluslararası öğrencilerin tanıtım etkinliği gerçekleştirilmiş ve hem uluslararası öğrenciler hem de öğretim elemanları tarafından anket formları doldurulmuştur. Program, fakültede eğitim kalitesini artırmayı hedeflemiş ve özellikle Türkçe ile Arapça dil becerilerinin geliştirilmesine yönelik olarak komisyon koordinatör Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Saeyd Rashed Hasan CHOWDURY, Koord. Yrd. Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Kenda ALTERKAWI, Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Tarek Mohamed Elmorsy HUSSEIN ve Öğr. Gör. Dr. Ayşe ÇAMUR tarafından öğrencilere çeşitli önerilerde bulunulmuş, fikir alışverişinde bulunulmuştur.
Ayrıca, Komisyon, uluslararası öğrencilerin akademik gelişimlerini desteklemek ve eğitim faaliyetlerini daha etkili hale getirmek amacıyla 2025 bahar dönemi içerisinde bir başka programın düzenlenmesi yönündeki öneriyi oy birliğiyle kabul etmiştir.
Bu etkinlik, İslami İlimler Fakültesi’nin uluslararasılaşma hedefleri doğrultusunda önemli bir adım teşkil etmekte ve fakültenin akademik ve kültürel çeşitliliğini artırmaya yönelik çabalarını yansıtmaktadır.

আসসালামু আলাইকুম। আপনাদের সাথে অত্যন্ত আনন্দের সাথে আমার একটি গবেষণামূল কাজ শেয়ার করতে চাই। ইসলামিক স্টাডিজ বিষয়ে বিশ্বের হাতে গোনা কয়েকটি জার্নালের অন্যতম একটি Q1 জার্নাল Ulumuna: Journal of Islamic Studies এর ডিসেম্বর ২০২৪ সংখ্যায় (২৮তম ভলিউম, ২য় সংখ্যায়) আমার “Unveiling Sufi Legacies in Dhaka of Bangladesh: A Chronological Discourse on Islamic Heritage” শীর্ষক প্রবন্ধটি প্রকাশিত হয়েছে।
বর্তমান বিশ্বে ইসলামিক স্টাডিজের Q1 (স্কোপাস) জার্নালের সংখ্যা হাতে গোনা কয়েকটি, এ কারণে একজন ইসলামিক স্টাডিজের ফ্যালাটি মেম্বার হিসেবে এই পর্যায়ের জার্নালে প্রবন্ধ প্রকাশ একটি দীর্ঘ ও চ্যালেঞ্জপূর্ণ প্রক্রিয়ার মধ্য দিয়ে অগ্রসর হতে হয়েছে। প্রায় এক বছরের বেশি সময় ধরে ৯ বারেরও অধিক রিভিউয়ারদের সংশোধনী গ্রহণ করতে হয়েছে, যা বারবার মানসিক ও একাডেমিক চ্যালেঞ্জের মুখোমুখি দাঁড় করিয়েছে। তবুও আল্লাহর উপর পূর্ণ ভরসা রেখে এবং আপনাদের মূল্যবান দোয়ার সাহায্যে এই কঠিন যাত্রার সফল সমাপ্তি সম্ভব হয়েছে, আলহামদুলিল্লাহ। বাংলাদেশের রাজধানী ঢাকা বিনির্মাণে প্রখ্যাত আলিম ও ইসলামিক স্কলারদের অনেক অবদান ছিলো এই বিষয়ে প্রচুর গল্প-কাহিনী থাকলেও একাডেমিক ডিসকাশন খুব বেশি দেখা যায় না। তাই আশা করি, ইসলামিক স্টাডিজ ও ধর্মতত্ত্ব বিষয়ক গবেষণার ক্ষেত্রে এই প্রবন্ধটি একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ অবদান রাখবে এবং সংশ্লিষ্ট গবেষকদের জন্য সহায়ক হবে।
I am delighted to share my latest research contribution: “Unveiling Sufi Legacies in Dhaka of Bangladesh: A Chronological Discourse on Islamic Heritage,” published in the December 2024 issue (Vol. 28, No. 2) of the prestigious Q1 journal Ulumuna: Journal of Islamic Studies.
Given the limited number of Q1-ranked journals in Islamic Studies worldwide, publishing in such a highly regarded platform has been a rigorous yet rewarding journey. Over the past year, I underwent nine rounds of meticulous revisions and addressed extensive reviewer feedback, making this achievement both academically and personally challenging. Alhamdulillah, I successfully completed this process with reliance on Allah and the support of your prayers.
This article explores the pivotal role of renowned Islamic scholars in shaping Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. While rich narratives on their contributions abound, academic discourse remains limited. I hope this work significantly advances the field of Islamic Studies and Theology, providing a valuable resource for scholars and researchers alike.

আজ ২৪ নভেম্বর, তুরস্কে শিক্ষক দিবস অত্যন্ত মর্যাদাপূর্ণভাবে উদযাপিত হয়েছে। এ দিনটি শিক্ষক সমাজের প্রতি সম্মান প্রদর্শনের একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ উদাহরণ হিসেবে বিবেচিত। আমার বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে শিক্ষক দিবস উপলক্ষে শিক্ষার্থীরা বিশেষ আয়োজনের মাধ্যমে অভিনন্দন ও শুভেচ্ছা জানিয়েছে। বিশেষত, নতুন ও বিদেশী শিক্ষক হিসেবে এর চেয়ে আনন্দের কি হতে পারে।

Derslerinizde sadece bilgiyi değil, bilginin ruhunu, hikmetini ve derinliğini bize aktarıyorsunuz. আলহামদুলিল্লাহ, তুরস্কের প্রথম সারির আঙ্কারা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়, ইস্তাম্বুল বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়, মারমারা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়, ২৯ মায়িস বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ও ইসলাম রিসার্চ সেন্টার সম্মিলিতভাবে ইসলাম রিসার্চ সেন্টারে (ইসাম) তুরস্কের ১০০ বছরে ধর্মতত্ত্ব ও ইসলামিক স্টাডিজ (Theology Faculties In Türkiye On Their 100th Anniversary) শীর্ষক আন্তর্জাতিক কনফারেন্সে প্রায় ২৫০ রিসার্চ পেপারের মধ্যে অরগানাইজিং কমিটি ৪০ টি পেপারের মধ্যে আমার গবেষণা প্রবন্ধটি কনফারেন্স এর জন্য নির্বাচিত করায় আল্লাহর শোকরিয়া জ্ঞাপন করছি এবং কনফারেন্স কমিটিকে ধন্যবাদ জানাচ্ছি। আমি আমার গবেষণা পেপারে Historical Analysis of Islamic Studies in Universities: A Comparative Discussion between Türkiye and the Indian Subcontinent (তুরস্কের ইসলামিক স্টাডিজ ও ভারতীয় উপমহাদেশের বাংলাদেশ, পাকিস্তান ও ভারতের বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়গুলোর ইসলামিক স্টাডিজের তুলনামূলক) বিষয়ের উপর পর্যালোচনা করেছি। এই ক্ষেত্রে এই দেশগুলোর ইসলামিক স্টাডিজের ইতিহাস, সিলেবাস, ক্যারিয়ার এবং চ্যালেঞ্জগুলো বিশ্লেষণ করেছি। তুরস্কের প্রথম সারির একাডেমিসিয়ান, আমেরিকার ও ইউরোপের বিভিন্ন প্রফেসরদের সাথে এই কনফারেন্স অংশগ্রহণ করতে পেরে অনেক বেশি অভিভূত হয়েছি। কনফারেন্সের প্রধান অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন তুরস্কের ধর্মমন্ত্রী অধ্যাপক ড. আলী এরবাস, বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় মঞ্জুরি কমিশনের চেয়ারম্যান অধ্যাপক ড. এরোল ওজভার, ইসামের প্রেসিডেন্ট অধ্যাপক ড. মুর্তেজা বেদির এবং বিভিন্ন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ভিসি, ডিন মহোদয় এবং অনেক অধ্যাপক গণ। বাংলাদেশী ভাইদের বিশেষ করে মাসুম ভাই, হামিম ভাই, মামুন ভাই, রাজিব ভাই, আব্দুর রাউফ ভাই, মোসাদ্দেক বিল্লাহ, শহীদুল ইসলাম ভাইয়ের সাথে কনফারেন্সে দেখা হয়ে অনেক ভালো লেগেছে। সামনের দিনগুলোর জন্য দু’আ চাচ্ছি।

Alhamdulillah, I am deeply grateful to Allah for the opportunity to present my research paper at the international conference titled "Theology Faculties in Türkiye on Their 100th Anniversary," organized by Ankara University, Istanbul University, Marmara University, 29 Mayis University, and the Islamic Research Center (ISAM), in collaboration with the Islamic Research Center of Turkey. My paper was among the 40 selected from nearly 250 submissions, a great honour.
My research, titled "Historical Analysis of Islamic Studies in Universities: A Comparative Discussion between Türkiye and the Indian Subcontinent," focuses on a comparative analysis of Islamic Studies in universities across Türkiye, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and India. In this study, I analyzed the historical development, curriculum structure, career opportunities, and challenges of Islamic Studies in these countries. It has been a humbling experience to present my work alongside some of the most esteemed academics from Türkiye and professors from the United States and Europe.
The conference's distinguished guests included Turkey's Minister of Religious Affairs, Professor Dr. Ali Erbaş, the Chairman of the Higher Education Council, Professor Dr. Erol Özvar, and ISAM President Professor Dr. Murtaza Bedir, among others. Their insights truly inspire me.
I humbly ask for your prayers as I hope this experience fosters further growth in my academic journey.
