KORBOUS
Korbous, is situated on the north coast of Cap Bon. The scenic road in places clings to the cliff face with stunning sea views. The surrounding area is mostly dry and barren with a few oases of greenery where springs gush forth from the rocks. From a bend in the road, Korbous suddenly comes into view like a mirage at the foot of a steep ravine.
Set around a few local springs, the small settlement at Korbous has beautiful white beaches at the base of craggy cliffs making it a very dramatic setting.
Just 2 km east of Korbous are the springs of Ain Atrous, the main attraction. The waters emerge at 44-60°C.
The town itself is pleasant with a wide street lined with elegant Tunisian architecture. Most of the elegant buildings date back a few decades to when Korbous was considered a very chic place for the Tunisian elite to have a home. On the shore is a former beyical palace which has been used as the Etablissement Thermal or spa clinic since 1901. Nearby are the ruins of the presidential palace used by Bourguiba.
Located about 70 km of Tunis.

SIDI BOU SAID

Sidi Bou Said is town in northern Tunisia, with its distinctive blue-and-white color scheme, cobbled streets and jaw-dropping glimpses of azure waters. The cliff-top village of Sidi Bou Said is one of the prettiest spots in Tunisia. Named after a 13 century Sufi saint, its distinctive architecture is a mix of the Ottoman and the Andalusian, a result of the influx of spanish muslims in the 16 centuries. For the french, the sleepy fishing village was a perfect depiction of the orientalism romanticized by europeans in the 19 centuries, and they committed to ensuring that its character, both real and imagined, was preserved. The village is quite small, and you can visit every street of the village in no more than 2-3 hours. On the top of the hill there is a beautiful view of the surrounding bay. Sidi Bou Said is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Past residents and visitors include artist Paul Klee, author André Gide, philosopher Michel Foucault, and arty British eccentrics Osbert and Edith Sitwell.

Located about 18 km of Tunis.

CARTHAGE

The remnants of ancient Carthage – fabled wealthy seafaring city of the Phoenicians – lie scattered across the Bay of Tunis. The evocative tumbled columns and piles of marble rubble are bordered by a panorama of the Mediterranean Sea, which was so fundamental to the city’s prosperity. Completely destroyed in the third punic war in 146 BC, the surviving ruins pale in comparison to some of North Africa’s. Carthage is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Habib Bourguiba Mausoleum
The mammoth Habib Bourguiba Mausoleum sits on the northern edge of Monastir cemetery. Its opulent splendor, topped with a golden dome, is a tribute to Tunisia’s first president after independence from the French. Built in 1963, this burial mosque holds the bodies of ex-President Bourguiba as well as his family. Two 25-meter slender minarets are made of Italian marble, while the facade is covered with beautifully delicate tiling work. The tomb of Bourguiba itself sits amid a dazzling interior of glass-inlay and underneath a spectacular chandelier.

Cemetery
Immediately northwest of the Ribat lies Monastir’s atmospheric cemetery, which holds a vast number of beautiful old tombs. Many are decorated with bands of Kufic inscriptions and faience tiles.

DOUZ & ZMELA

Douz is a town in the Kebili Governorate in the south of Tunisia, known as the «Gateway to the Sahara». The town of Douz has grown up around a large palm oasis that stands on the northern fringe of the Sahara. Surrounded by little other than desert and dry scrub land, historically it was an important stop on the trans-Saharan caravan routes.

Located about 460 km of Tunis.
Camp Zmela is situated on the edge of the Sahara, with tents. This is the best tent camp in the south, in great part because of its isolation and position slap-bang next to some of Tunisia’s mightiest dunes.
