So, I was just chilling in my room at the retirement home, the one I spent half my life saving up for while working as a cashier at a college cafeteria. I've been alone my whole life — never had a husband or kids.

The nurse, Sarah, and I were playing cards like we always do after lunch when we noticed through my window this woman walk in. She looked like she stepped right out of some fancy movie, like the wife of a rich businessman. Her face seemed oddly familiar, but I couldn't quite place it.

I SAW A CHILD ON THE SCHOOL BUS HITTING THE BACK WINDOW AND YELLING FOR HELP

As I merged back into traffic, a yellow school bus rumbled past me. Something caught my eye in the back window: a little girl, her face pressed against the glass, tiny fists pounding frantically.

"What the?" I gasped.

Without thinking, I gunned the engine, racing after the bus. The child was clearly in distress, but why?

"I'm coming, hold on, sweetie," I mumbled, honking my horn repeatedly.

I swerved around the bus and cut in front, forcing it to a stop in the middle of the busy road.

The driver, a burly man with a thick black mustache, stormed out. "What kinda stunt are you pulling, lady? You coulda caused an accident!"

I ignored him, pushing past and rushing onto the bus. The noise hit me like a wall. The kids were flocked around the girl, shouting and laughing. I raced to the back, where the little girl sat alone, her face now red and tear-streaked. ⬇️

"Hey! You have no place here. Get out!" the manager yelled.

At that moment, the antique shop's owner, Arnold, stepped out of his office to see what the commotion was about. When he realized his manager was about to kick the homeless Harold out, he reprimanded him.

"That's no way to treat people, Adam. You must always be kind to everyone you meet," Arnold said, shaking his head. He walked towards Harold and handed him 20 dollars. "I hope you find something good to eat with this money," he said.

As Harold reached for the handout, the shop owner noticed the ring on his finger. "Where did you get that ring?!" he asked quickly. 👇

I was out to dinner with my wife at a cafe. We were sitting there, holding hands when I leaned over to kiss Mara, and a strange woman suddenly walked up to us.

Woman, screaming, "So you had to work tonight?! You had an emergency surgery? You CHEAT! We are over!" She threw her glass of wine in my face! I was soaked and furious.

I had just returned from the cemetery, leaving fresh flowers for my late wife, who died in a plane crash more than two decades ago, when I got a call from my partner.

I FOUND A BLANKET I KNITTED FOR MY LATE DAUGHTER AT MY MIL'S GARAGE SALE.

Five years ago, when I finally got pregnant with my first child, we decided to name her Daisy. I spent months knitting a pink blanket adorned with white daisies.

The day Daisy was born, I held her in my arms, wrapped her in the blanket, and we took our first and LAST photo together because hours later, the doctor told me she died.

I screamed, cried, and begged to see her, but my husband, Aaron, and my MIL, Margaret, insisted it was best to remember her as she was. They told me they arranged the funeral, but I was too weak to attend. I spiraled into a deep depression in the following years.

I've always loved Thanksgiving. For me, it was a family holiday. Year after year, we'd gather together, cook a turkey, and laugh so much. I remember those moments like they were yesterday. But three years ago, my mom left us. No explanation, no goodbyes — she just closed the door and was gone. Since then, nothing has been the same, and I haven't seen her since. We learned to live as three: my dad, sister, and me. Dad did everything he could, but the holiday spirit never really returned.

This year, she invited us to spend Thanksgiving together for the first time since she left. Honestly, it felt like a knife to the heart. To sit there and watch her so happy without us? My parents are real tyrants. I know that sounds awful, but it's true. They're perfect — rich, smart, never making mistakes. And they always demanded the same from me. Disobedience? Not an option. My appearance? Flawless, or fix it ASAP! And God forbid I have my own dreams or don't want to join my dad's business; they'd shut me up with a shout and a fist on the table. "Don't you dare to talk back, Kate!" That's their usual response. Anyway, that day was even worse. I had to give a big presentation, and I tried telling them again that I didn't want to do it, but they just didn't care. So, I sucked it up and left. I was walking down the street when I bumped into this homeless guy. He stared at me, and then his eyes filled with tears. Out of nowhere, he jumped up, hugged me, and shouted, "My Rosa, is it really you?! Oh Lord!" I pulled back and said, "You've got the wrong person. I'm Kate."
