Pashtuns/Pashtoons Pakhtuns / Pakhtoons or Afghans an ancient ethnic group have lived on the plains and around mountains between river Ammu ( Oxus ) and the Indus river (KaBUL).The origins of the Pashtuns could be dated back to thousands of years the direct descendants of the A***ns who originated from the same region , Pashtuns speaking Pashto language which is characterized as an A***n langua
ge taking birth from pre historic Awesta language .For the first time they were documented in history in Hindu texts of Rigweda as ‘’Pakta or Paktha ‘’ . Herodotus also wrote about the people living in an area that is more present day Afghanistan were called ‘’Pactyan or Paktyan ‘’ .Through out history Pashtuns are regarded as fierce warriors conquerors and the defendants of their land . Pashtuns follow and spend their entire life following the code of Pashtunwali or their own guidelines for their cultural and traditional norms . Honour , Hospitality , Bravery , Revenge , honoring women , Forgiveness . Present day Pashtoons numbering over 55 million a dominant ethnic group in Afghanistan ruling Afghanistan also Pashtuns are living in Pakistan divided by Durand line between Afghanistan and Pakistan .The tribes on both sides do interact freely giving no importance to the line . Since last 300 years Afghanistan has been ruled by almost all Pashtoon rulers Kings and Presidents for the first time in recent history the foundation of their contemporary state was laid down by a revolutionary leader Mirwais Khan Hottak from Kandahar followed by Ahmad Khan or Ahmad Shah Durrani a famous conqueror and emperor of his era . There has been many notable poets and writers among Pashtuns , Pashto poetry dates back to the A***n period mostly in oral form .A more recent poetry dates back to probably a thousand years some of the poetry preserved through the oldest Pashto book Patta Khazana ( The Hidden Treasure ) written and preserved by Mohammed Hottak in 1728 on the orders of the Ruler Shah Hussein Hottak in Kandahar . Shah Hussein Hottak was a great promoter of Pashto language and Pashtun culture . Some of the notable Poetess and Poets are Nazo Ana ( Ref Mother of the Nation ) .Khushal Khan Khattak , Abdul Rahman Baba , Hamza Baba Shinwari , Khatir Khan Afridi , Ghani Khan , Abdul Bari Jahani . Some of the notable personalities in history , Ghayas u din Ghori , Ebrahim Lodhi , Behlol Lodhi , Sher Shah Suri , Mirwais Khan Hottak , Shah Mahmud Hottak , Shah Ashraf Khan Hottak , Ahmad Shah Durrani , Malalai of Maiwand , Shah Amanullah Khan . Bacha Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan , Abdul Sammad Khan . This ancient race is now deep in crisis suffering from insecurity and their homeland have had been a play ground for imperialist powers since last 4 decades scores of people killed on the basis of Ideology provoked and interfered by neighbouring and international powers soughing the seeds of religious fundamentalism which threatens the basic existence of the Pashtuns their culture has already been targeted destroyed by the Anti Pashtun powers who are interested in pushing this race towards the brink of extinction . Pashtuns are in search of peace they are a peaceful nation believes in peace they have always supported peace most importantly their land which they refer to as Mother they have maintained peace at any cost they need to work on peace once more tirelessly and stop the process of insecurity which designed for their extinction .They need to point out friends and enemies and figure out ways for peace to develop their homeland and leave a secure future for their generations that was left to them by their forefathers .
