The settings of the two interviews, stills were captured from the raw footage, are not yet color-grade. Two different locations and lighting conditions. One is inside an
automobile factory and another is
partially outdoor setting. At the factory, a male engineer standing in front of production line, he wears a pair of glasses with a mask on. The lighting in this scene was a mixture of
ambient fluorescents from the ceiling, and day light from windows in the background. Three LED lamps were used to illuminate the talent.
Another setting is a semi-outdoor setup; a female talent under the shed with open surroundings, a durian farm in the outer suburb of Bangkok. With limited lighting equipment, we had only a small set of LEDs. We planed schedule to shoot other parts of the story through out the day, and made use of the sun in late afternoon for the interview. A 6x6 fabric diffusion was hung from the edge of the cradle beneath the roof. Thin fabric soften sunlight as a key on the left side of the talent. Medium LED panels and tube lights altogether were placed close to the camera right as a fill light for the talent.
A 6x6 Black cloth hung right behind the led panel to help control ambient light from behind the camera, right next to the diffusion. At first, a lady merchant was eye-line angled to camera's left. There
were some ambient noise from passing traffics, so I changed the angle to include part of the street in the background. On a personal note, the switching side turned out to be more interesting, in terms of the lighting on the talent as well as
the overall composition. Switching
camera to the opposite side of key
light, created better depth, and not as flat comparing the key light coming from the same side as the camera. The background also had
more depth with high lights and shadows. Also, the eye light was more appealing, facing toward the light source.
