“Wat Chedi Luang “ very old and significant temple in Chiang Mai, Thailand. - Wat Chedi Luang is located in the heart of the old city of Chiang Mai, near the Chiang Mai City Pillar Shrine.
The main structure of the temple is the enormous Chedi (pagoda), which was originally constructed in the 14th century.
Wat Chedi Luang is known for its impressive Lanna-style architecture, with intricate carvings and decorations.
It is one of the most visited and historically important temples in Chiang Mai, with a long and storied history dating back to the Lanna Kingdom era.

Lamentations 3:22-23 (NIV)
*"Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness."*

The Book of Lamentations is traditionally attributed to the prophet Jeremiah and is a series of poetic laments for the destruction of Jerusalem in 586 BC. The book is filled with sorrow and mourning, but in the midst of this, there are profound expressions of hope and trust in God's faithfulness’s

1 “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed,"
- Great Love: This refers to God's steadfast love, often termed as "hesed" in Hebrew. This love is loyal, covenantal, and enduring.
- Not Consumed: Despite the suffering and destruction around them, the people are not utterly destroyed. This highlights God's mercy and grace. God’s love prevents total destruction and offers hope for restoration.

2. "for his compassions never fail."
- Compassions: This speaks to God's tender mercies and deep sympathy for His people.
- Never Fail: God's mercies are constant and reliable. They are unending, even in times of trial and distress.

3. "They are new every morning;"
- New Every Morning: This phrase signifies renewal and daily restoration. Every day brings a fresh measure of God’s mercy and compassion. No matter how difficult the previous day was, each new morning is a testament to God's ongoing faithfulness and care.

4. "great is your faithfulness."
- Great Faithfulness: This is a declaration of God’s unwavering and dependable nature. God remains faithful to His promises and His people, regardless of their circumstances.

Oh, the wanderlust that fills my soul
The burning desire to explore and roam

A Shepherd and His Flock

The 23rd Psalm is a powerful declaration of trust and dependence on God. Today, we’ll look at how the first few words reveal a core belief that to accept God as our shepherd, we acknowledge that He is the One who provides for our every need. He is the ultimate source of comfort, guidance, and protection.

Just as a shepherd cares for his flock, tending to their every need and leading them to safe pastures, God also cares for us, His children.

The psalmist goes on to describe how God cares for His sheep. He makes us "lie down in green pastures," a metaphor for providing rest and security. He leads us "beside quiet waters," quenching our thirst and offering us peace. He "refreshes our soul," restoring our inner strength and well-being.

One of the most comforting promises in Psalm 23 is that God "guides me along the right paths for his name's sake." Even when you are unsure of the way, you can trust that God will lead you in the right way (John 14:6). He will not allow you to wander into harm's way, for His name's sake.

How can knowing the Lord as your shepherd provide you with contentment when facing challenges? Repeat these words until they sink deep into your soul: The Lord is my shepherd, He will never leave me or forsake me. He will always provide for my needs and guide me on the right path.

Stay Alert

Have you ever let your guard down when you shouldn’t have?

Maybe you got lazy. Maybe you got distracted. Maybe you cared too much about someone else’s opinions. Maybe you got tired of standing your ground.

Peter, one of Jesus’ closest disciples, would understand. He left everything to follow Jesus. He loved, trusted, and believed in Jesus. But when being associated with Jesus threatened His own security and reputation, Peter denied Him—three times.

Thankfully, Jesus forgave him, restored him, and even empowered him to preach at Pentecost—the day that 3,000 people were baptized and the early church began.

It was that Peter who wrote:

“Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your family of believers all over the world is going through the same kind of suffering you are.”
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭5‬:‭8‬-‭9‬ ‭NLT‬‬

If we’re going to resist the enemy, we must stay on both the offensive and defensive.

The Offensive: Stay alert. Stand firm. Be strong. Read God’s Word. Seek God-centered community. Fight for time and connection with God. Remind yourself that there are others fighting this battle with you.

The Defensive: If someone is twisting the truth, call it out. If you notice an injustice, do something to help. If your enemy the devil is wreaking havoc, have the courage to fight for good.

For the times that you’ve already let your guard down, don’t allow yourself to stay stuck in guilt or shame. We’ve all had moments where we’ve slipped. Ask for forgiveness and keep moving forward.

What did Jesus do after He was raised back to life? He found Peter. In fact, he cooked breakfast on the beach for Peter! He gave Peter another chance, and even established him as a leader.

So stay alert. And remember: God is also fighting you.

Called to Contentment

Observing Sabbath-rest allows us to step into the same rhythm God established in creating the world. Scripture tells us when God rested from His work, it was because His work was complete (Genesis 2:1). God took joy in His accomplishment.

In Hebrews 4:10, the writer draws a parallel between God's rest and ours: "for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his." We're invited to delight in His presence and share in God’s divine contentment.

This rest isn't about taking a break from good works. It’s about surrendering the need to control by trusting in the completeness of God’s work. Our "rest" releases us from the burden of proving ourselves good enough to earn His love and approval. These things have been secured through Jesus’ finished work on the cross. When we step into this rhythm of rest can we find contentment that spills over into every part of our lives.

Is God is calling you to stop trying to do everything on your own and instead find peace in Jesus’ finished work on the cross?

Lay down your burdens, not out of laziness, but surrender. Believe that the One who made the world also takes care of you. Amen

Love One Another

Jesus gave a new command to His disciples toward the end of His life. He said to them…

“A new commandment I give you to you, that you love one another; just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this, all people will know that you are my disciples if you have love for one another.”
John 13:34-35 ESV

John later wrote to Christians reminding them of this command. He said—

“And now I ask you … that we love one another. And this is love, that we walk according to his commandments: this is the commandment, just as you have heard from the beginning so that you should walk in it.”
2 John 1:5-6 ESV

John taught that it was an act of love when Christians obeyed Jesus by loving one another.

This was important because it would show the world that they were His disciples. Christ-followers who loved one another despite their differences in race, country, background, and experience showed how much the saving grace and love of Jesus could change people and save people.

This is still a command for us.

The love we have for one another is vital to what others see when they look at Jesus' followers. If people who don’t believe in Jesus see Christians loving each other in the midst of difficult or violent times, it will be a picture of the love God has for all of us.

It’s while we were still sinners that Christ died for us. He loved us enough to die for us. This is the kind of love we are to have for one another.

Today, think of ways you can show Jesus' love to other believers. By doing so, you will obey your Lord Jesus and you will be walking in His ways.

Today is a special day to honor and celebrate you - the incredible fathers who have dedicated yourselves to guiding, supporting, and loving your children. Your role is invaluable, and your impact is immeasurable.

As fathers, you wear many hats - provider, protector, teacher, friend. You work tirelessly to give your children the very best, often putting their needs before your own. Your patience, wisdom, and unwavering commitment are true gifts that shape the lives of your families.

On this Father's Day, take pride in the profound difference you make every single day. Your children look up to you with admiration and love, grateful for the strong foundation you have built. Continue to be the steady, caring presence they can always count on.
