Attention all Frontier members.

Join us for an exclusive webinar on the complex array of issues affecting migrants and their families across the Thai-Myanmar border: what should be done to address them.

📅 Wednesday, October 1
🕔 7 PM (Thailand time)

As Frontier has reported, the post-coup situation in Myanmar has intensified labour exploitation and social protection challenges for migrants in Thailand, making their livelihoods more precarious. Meanwhile, the backdrop of heightened economic insecurity, labour struggles and political instability in Myanmar means that the lines between refugees, economic migrants and political exiles have become increasingly blurred.

To better understand these issues, Frontier will hold a virtual panel, "Enduring Struggles Across Borders: The Precarious Lives of Myanmar Migrants in Thailand"

This panel will be moderated by Khin Thazin, an MPhil Candidate at the University of Oxford.

She will be joined by:

Benjamin Harkins - International Labour Organization (Labour rights and policy)

Reiko Harima - Mekong Migration Network (Advocacy and research)

Ko Thiha - Young Chi Oo Workers' Association (Migrant worker organising)

The Chatham House Rule will apply.

This webinar is open exclusively to Frontier members, and is part of Frontier’s virtual event series which connects members with experts, and Frontier journalists, enabling participants to engage in high-level panel discussions.

We are building a community based around independent journalism in Myanmar. Join us: https://mailchi.mp/frontiermyanmar.net/members
