Sorn Makes Michelin History with 3 Stars

For the first time, a Thai restaurant has earned the prestigious 3 Michelin Stars, and the honour goes to Sorn. A celebration of southern Thai cuisine, Sorn masterfully combines bold flavours and traditional techniques in a symphony of culinary artistry. Helmed by Chef Supaksorn “Ice” Jongsiri, the restaurant has elevated Thai gastronomy to new heights, crafting a menu that vividly tells the story of southern Thailand with every bite.

Awarded the highest recognition in the Michelin Guide Thailand 2025, this milestone is a testament to the unparalleled richness of Thai flavours.
Michelin’s Big Night
While Sorn was the undisputed star, the evening brought other surprises. Côte by Mauro Colagreco joined the two-star club, standing shoulder to shoulder with icons like Mezzaluna and Sühring, while five new names, including Akkee and Goat, entered the one-star category. Sustainability also took centre stage with Baan Tepa, earning a Michelin Green Star for its commitment to eco-conscious dining.
Notably, some fine-dining veterans, including Cadance by Dan Bark, Sushi Masato and Canvas, lost their stars this year—a reminder of how competitive Thailand’s restaurant landscape has become.

One thing is clear: Chef David Cleland is incredibly passionate about the food he serves at his newly opened Tina’s, Bangkok’s first New Orleans fine-dining restaurant. The passion is layered into every dish he serves, from the cornerstone of Creole Louisiana culinary heritage, the Jambalaya to the epitome of comfort food, the buttermilk biscuits. This is an experience you want to linger over, savour, digest and go back for more. I have been to Tina’s thrice, drawn there by its incredible energy, the food that speaks to your soul, and the warm, inviting ambience that feels like coming home. No, New Orleans is not my home; I’ve never ever been there. It’s just that Tina’s makes one feel as if you’ve stepped into the storied, vibrant heart of New Orleans itself, where every meal is a celebration, and every bite tells a tale.
