I used to be a people-pleaser, a chameleon blending into whatever background was expected of me. I lived in constant fear of messing up, terrified of what others might think. But then, like a sudden bolt of lightning, it hit me: no matter how hard I tried to be everything to everyone, someone would always find something to criticize.

So, I ripped off the mask and decided to live life on my own terms. I stopped letting the opinions of others dictate my every move and started prioritizing my own happiness. Life's too short to be living in someone else's shadow. If people want to throw shade, let them. If they want to judge you based on their own twisted lies and half-truths, so be it.

The truth is, everyone has their fair share of haters, even those we put on a pedestal. The trick is to not let those naysayers get in your head and define you.

Remember, your self-worth isn't determined by public opinion. It's found in the depths of your own dreams, values, and beliefs. Surround yourself with people who lift you higher, not those who try to tear you down.

You can't please everyone, and that's perfectly fine. Stay true to yourself, keep chasing your dreams, and don't let the haters hold you back from living your best life.

This is your life, your story, and you're the author. Write it with passion, write it with heart, and most importantly, write it for you.

Sometimes, the hardest part of loving someone is knowing when to walk away. It's looking at someone you love with all your heart and realizing you've both become each other's poison. It's those nights you lie awake, replaying every fight, every tear, every moment of hoping things would change. It's the gut-wrenching feeling of knowing you're caught in a never-ending cycle, clinging to a love that can no longer be.

Love isn't supposed to leave you broken and bruised. No, it shouldn't. It's not supposed to drain every ounce of joy from your soul. Real love, the kind that truly lasts, is about lifting each other up, growing together, and finding peace in each other's arms.

I know. Letting go is terrifying. It feels like ripping out a piece of your own heart, but sometimes, it's the only way to heal. It's choosing yourself, your happiness, and the chance to find a love that truly sets your soul on fire.

Listen, you deserve that kind of love. You deserve a love that fills your heart with sunshine, not one that leaves you drowning in a sea of tears.

“Shattered Promises, Broken Dreams”
By Sheena Writes

Emily and Finn had always been inseparable since they were kids. They were the definition of childhood best friends, sharing secrets, dreams, and endless laughter. Their bond grew stronger over the years, surviving the turbulent journey of adolescence and emerging into adulthood. It was only natural that they eventually took their friendship to the next level and became a couple.

Their transition from best friends to lovers was like the stuff of fairytales. Everyone around them admired their deep connection and it felt like they had simply crossed an invisible line, acknowledging that the person they had cherished for so long was also the one they wanted to spend the rest of their lives with.

As life often does, it threw a curveball into their seemingly perfect love story. It began with late nights at the office, missed phone calls and an ever-growing distance between them. Emily couldn't quite put her finger on what was wrong, but she had a nagging feeling that something was amiss.

One evening, Finn came home late, his face etched with guilt and exhaustion. Emily couldn't contain her worry any longer. She took a deep breath and confronted him, "Finn, we need to talk. Something's not right and I can't pretend everything is okay anymore."

Finn hesitated, his eyes avoiding hers. "Em, I... I don't know how to say this."

Emily's heart sank as she urged him, "Just tell me, Finn. We've always been honest with each other. Whatever it is, we can work through it together."

Finn took a deep breath and finally confessed, "I've been seeing someone else, Emily. I’m so sorry.”

Emily's world crumbled in an instant. She was struck by a numbing pain she had never experienced before. Tears welled up in her eyes as she whispered, "You’re sorry?”

Finn hung his head in shame.” I honestly never meant to hurt you like this Emily.”

Emily bitterly laughed. “Yet you did, Finn.”

Finn tried to approach Emily but she held up a hand to stop him. “Don’t. Just don’t.

Emily wiped the tears from her eyes. “Do you love her?”

Finn slowly nodded. “Yes.”

The answer felt like a stab in Emily’s heart.

Finn continued. “It happened so fast. I tried so hard, I really did. I tried to remember why I loved you, but I just can’t feel anything for you anymore.”

One of the most agonizing experiences a person could have was to love someone so much, only for that person to fall out of love and found someone else.

It was just awful to think that you thought you knew that person well after being with them for years and yet realized you could never fully know someone through and through even if you had spent your entire lives together.

That kind of betrayal threw you off balance and made you doubt your own reality—were the good days and the happy times real? Was that person lying the entire time? How could that person stay and let you down? Why not end it? What made you decide to keep someone in the dark? How could you look someone in the eyes and tell them you were lying through your teeth?

With all of these thoughts racing through Emily's mind, she had no idea she'd be experiencing this so soon.

“What’s her name? How long have you been seeing each other?”

“Her name is Melissa. We’ve been seeing for six months now,” Finn continued, his voice trembling, "but there's more.”

“What do you mean there’s more?” Emily asked, dreading for the answer.

“She's pregnant and she's keeping the baby."

The words hung heavy in the air, a twist of the knife in Emily's heart. She had been unaware of the affair, let alone the pregnancy. It felt like her entire world had shattered into a million pieces.

Emily's voice quivered as she struggled to comprehend the enormity of Finn’s betrayal. "How could you, Finn? After all we've been through, after everything we meant to each other, you're willing to throw it all away."

Finn tried to defend himself, but his words fell on deaf ears. Emily's pain was too raw, too deep, and nothing he said could justify his actions. They both knew that their love, once unbreakable, had now been shattered beyond repair.

In the midst of tears and heartache, they made the painful decision to break up. Finn whispered through his own tears, "You'll always be my best friend, Emily. Always have, always will. No one can change that.”

Emily, her heart aching, replied, “Unfortunately, Finn, it doesn't work that way."

“I’m sorry, ” Finn pathetically apologized.

“Goodbye Finn, ” Emily turned around and walked away.

She walked away from the memories, from the promises they made to each other, from the dreams they wanted to create…

She walked away from everything and never looked back.

Years passed and both Emily and Finn moved on with their lives. Emily built a new world for herself, healing slowly but surely from the wounds of the past. She had come to accept that some bonds were meant to be broken, no matter how strong they had once been.

Then, out of the blue, Emily received a wedding invitation from Finn. Conflicted and unsure, she debated attending for days. Eventually, curiosity got the better of her, and she decided to go. She needed closure, a final chapter in a story that had ended so abruptly.

The wedding day arrived and as Emily watched Finn exchange vows with his bride, she couldn't help but feel a bittersweet mixture of emotions. The pain of the past mingled with the fond memories they had shared as best friends.

During the reception, Finn approached Emily. His eyes filled with regret and longing but he tried to shake them away. He showed her a gentle smile.

“Hey Em," he said. “Thanks for coming. It means a lot that you’re here.”

Emily gave him a small smile. “I have to see you get married before you sign away your freedom.”

Finn laughed. “I see you’re still a goofball.”

Emily smiled. “Well, yeah, you know. That’s just me.”

Finn moved closer and reached for her hand. He held it tight. "You will always be my best friend, the most important person in my life."

Emily held his hand tight as well one last time, her heart heavy but resolute. "Finn, I wish you all the happiness in the world, but I've moved on. We can't go back to the way things were."

With a weak smile, Finn slowly released Emily’s hand. “I know, but I wanted to let you know that.”

Emily gave him a weak smile.

“Daddy!”

A sweet child’s voice made Emily’s heart skipped a beat. She turned around and saw the spitting image of Finn running towards him with open arms. When the child went passed her, he jumped into Finn’s arms and gave him a kiss on the cheek.

“Hey, daddy!”

Finn laughed. “Hey there you little bu**er! I thought I told you to stay with grandma.”

The child pouted. “I know but I miss you, daddy.”

The child saw Emily and he asked.” Is this your friend, daddy?”

Finn smiled and looked at Emily. “Meet my son, Holden.”

Emily managed to give out a small smile.” Hey little guy. I’m Emily.”

At the back of Emily’s mind, this could have been the son that she and Finn could have.

Holden smiled and gave her a small wave of his tiny hand. “Hello.”

Emily waved back. “Well, I have to get going, Finn. Congratulations on your wedding.”

There was nothing left for her say or do, so she turned around, but a woman’s voice stopped her.

“Emily.”

Emily turned around and saw the woman that came between Finn and her, Melissa. The wedding gown she wore cascaded down her body like a waterfall of ivory silk. The strapless neckline accentuated her delicate collarbones and shoulders and the fitted bodice cinched her waist perfectly. The full skirt flared out at her hips, creating a voluminous, romantic silhouette.

She was the epitome of a bride.

“I’ll let you guys have a moment,” Finn said and then walked away.

Now it was just the two of them.

The past and present.

“Hey, Melissa” Emily said, smiling. “Congratulations. It’s a beautiful wedding."

Melissa returned the smile, a hint of nervousness in her voice. "Thank you, Emily. It's a special day for us, for sure."

They exchanged a few polite pleasantries before a somewhat uncomfortable silence settled between them. Emily knew that they had to address the elephant in the room.

Emily started. "I have to admit, when I received the invitation, I wasn't sure if I should come."

Melissa nodded. "I understand. It must have been difficult."

"Yes, it was, but I realized that I needed to be here, not just for closure, but to wish you both well."

Melissa smiled, grateful for the words. "That means a lot to us, Emily. We've come a long way since everything happened."

"I can see that and I genuinely hope that you and Finn have found happiness together," Emily replied.

Melissa gave out a small laugh. “We’ve had our ups and downs, but we're working through them. Our son has been a blessing, in a way."

"I'm glad to hear that."

Melissa continued. “You know, Finn often talks about the wonderful friendship you had. He's never stopped caring about you."

"He does?" Emily sound surprised.

Melissa nodded. "Yes, he does. I know it hurt both of you when things went wrong."

"It did, “Emily admitted, “but sometimes, life has other plans for us, and we have to accept that."

Melissa looked reflective. "You're right. We can't change the past, but we can choose how we move forward."

As the night wore on, Emily felt a strange sense of closure. Emily made a meaningful glance at Finn and Melissa, silently acknowledging the complexities of their history. They may have been from different chapters of Finn’s life, but in that moment, however unexpected, it helped her move forward with a little more understanding and a little less pain.

The pain of betrayal and lost friendship remained, but so did the memories of a love that had once been pure and beautiful, like a cherished, bittersweet melody in their hearts.

The End.

THE CLOSURE CALL: A Short Story
by Sheena Writes

(Note: My apologies for any grammatical mistakes)

Phoenix had been dreading this call for months.

She had been debating whether this was necessary but she felt that it was finally time to make that call. For the past year and a half, she had spent all her energy nursing her broken heart over a relationship she thought was going great. She kept dwelling on the past and had shed so much tears until there was none left.

Her friends lost patience in her, her parents almost gave up on her.

All the people that knew and loved her stopped trying to help her get through the tough time because she refused to be consoled.

But… Could you really blame her?

To be honest, Phoenix didn’t know what went wrong. She made sure to give her 100% with their relationship; she was the epitome of a good girlfriend, she tried to be understanding even though they had their differences. Despite all that, they managed to meet halfway.

Their love was like glass, clear and transparent.

However, one day, out of the blue, her boyfriend of five years, Noah, just dropped the bomb by saying, “Let’s break up.”

She asked if there was another woman but he said no, which did not make sense to her. All he ever said was that he just fell out of love. Despite the hurt she felt at that time, she desperately tried so hard to convince him to stay, but he just shook his head and walked out of her life.

Five years of giving her everything to him went down the drain.

For months, she had hoped that there’d still be a chance that he would come back to her, but when she saw him again, several weeks after their break-up, he was already with another woman. Noah looked happy and the way he looked into that woman’s eyes, it was a look that he didn’t once give her.

It was the look of a man who was hopelessly in love.

The realization that the years they had been together didn’t matter boiled down to one thing…

Even at your best, you’ll never be enough for the wrong person.

As she stared at her phone screen, she thought, “I think I am ready.”

She took a deep breath and dialed her ex-boyfriend's number. He answered after a few rings.

“Hello?”

His deep, baritone voice was still the same, it felt nostalgic. She took a deep breath and answered.

"Hi, Noah. It's Phoenix," she said.

"Phoenix?" Noah sounded surprised. “This is unexpected. What's up?"

“It’s now or never,” She thought.

“I called because I want to talk to you,” she said.

“Uhh… sure.”

"I just wanted to call and tell you that I'm doing okay," she said. "I know it's been a while since we talked, but I've been thinking about you a lot lately."

"That's good to hear," he said. "I'm glad you're doing well."

“Yeah. It was a process but I am better now.”

“Good for you.”

There was an awkward silence after that.

“Phoenix, I-“ he started.

“Noah, did you regret it? Did you regret ending things between us?”

“Phoenix, I really don’t know what to say…” he said

“To be honest, getting over you was hard, but despite that, my heart is still holding onto you,” she said.

“I see.”

“While I was trying to move on, I kept hoping that you’d come back, but I was only fooling myself.”

There was silence on the other end. She kept going.

“Noah, I’ll always love you. Those five years of us together will never be forgotten, but now, I think it’s time to set myself free and not hold on to you anymore," she said. "I'm not saying that I don't care about you, but I've realized that by staying in the past, it will only set me back.”

He was silent for a moment. "I see," he said. "Well, I hope you’ll be happy, Phoenix. I really mean that."

"Thank you," she said. "I just wanted you to know.”

"I appreciate you for telling me that," he said.

“I mean we started out as friends right?”she laughed.

He laughed on the other end. “Yeah we did.”

“I’m really glad that I met you, Noah,” she said.

“Me too. I’m really glad we met.”

“See you in the next life?” she asked.

“In the next life.”

“Can I say it one last time, Noah?” she asked.
“Please?”

“Sure.”

“I love you, Noah and I always will.”

As she said those words, she felt a sharp pain in her heart knowing that it would be the last time she’d say it to the person who was her everything.

“I’m sorry we didn’t work out, Phoenix. I’m sorry how I ended things with you. I never meant to hurt you,” he confessed. “I did love you with all my heart and don’t ever think I loved you less.”

She smiled. “Don’t be sorry. Things just didn’t work out for us and that’s okay.”

"Take care of yourself, Phoenix. Be happy.”

"You too," she replied.

“Bye.”

“Goodbye, Noah.”

Phoenix hung up the phone and took a deep breath. She felt a sense of relief and closure. She knew that she had made the right decision.

She spent the next few months focusing on herself, rebuilding broken relationships with family and friends and her own happiness. She started dating again, and she even met someone new that she really liked. She still missed her ex from time to time, but she knew that she was in a better place now.

One day, she was walking down the street when she saw Noah walking towards her. He was with his girlfriend. Phoenix’s heart skipped a beat, but she smiled and waved. He smiled back and waved, and then he continued on his way.

Phoenix watched them go, and she felt a sense of peace. She was glad that they had both moved on and found new happiness. She knew that she would always cherish the memories of their relationship, but she was also excited to start a new chapter in her life.

After all, her name was Phoenix. Her name would always be a reminder that she’s stronger than she thinks and that she’d rise above her past no matter what.

THE END.

Hello everyone! I will be posting a story today, so stay tuned.

Sometimes we hold on to things that are not meant to be. We cling to memories, hopes, and dreams that only cause us pain. We think that if we let them go, we will lose a part of ourselves, but the truth is, we are only hurting ourselves by staying in the past.

To move forward takes courage and strength. It means accepting the reality of what is, and not what we wish it could be. It means opening our hearts to new possibilities, and not closing them off in fear, and to trust that life has a plan for us, and not doubting our worth.

Letting go is not giving up, it is moving on.It is not a sign of weakness, but a sign of growth. It is not a loss, but a gain. It is not an end, but a new beginning.

To let go is a gift that we give to ourselves. It frees us from the shackles of yesterday, and allows us to live in the present. It heals us from the wounds of the past, and prepares us for the future. It fills us with peace, joy, and hope, and makes us whole again.

Letting go is not always easy, but it is necessary. When we let go of the past, we open ourselves up to the possibilities of the present moment.

So if you are feeling burdened by your past or anxious about your future, take a deep breath and let go. Trust that the universe is taking care of you, and that you are exactly where you need to be.

Hello there. Nice to meet you!

My name is Sheena and I'm here to create words that will dance in your heart.

I am an aspiring writer. I am hoping one day to be a signed author by a reputable publishing firm and if I may be so ambitious, have my books be adapted into the big screen one day—crossing my fingers for that.

For the past decade, I have been on writing hiatus. My ongoing books on Wattpad had been put on hold and my drive to fill those blank documents with words on my computer has lost its spark.

I thought if I create a Writer page on this platform and start posting stories, poems and other things, it will slowly rekindle my love for writing and maybe one day, I can finish all my books.

I hope this move I'm doing will work. To be honest, I miss that part of myself, the part where weaving words into a story just comes naturally to me.

I want to find that missing part of me again.

Well, that's about it.

I will be posting some material soon so please do watch out for it.

Thanks for reading and do follow me for updates. 🤍
