Perhaps the image of the crucifix is not meant to show us only His love or His sacrifice for us alone, but there also exists an ulterior motive of stimulating faith which had helped propagate the influence and power of the Church since its inception. Or perhaps the image of the lynching of blacks in early 20th century does not only find itself as a historical artefact, but also as a s*xual object for those whose fetishes lie in torture and having s*x with black men alike.
