Mai Khao Beach, Phuket Thailand 🇹🇭 ✈️

Mai Khao is a beach on the northwestern side of Phuket and it's the longest beach in Phuket by far at over 13 kilometers. It's also known as Airport Beach or Sanambin Beach, as it's very close to the airport. The northern portion is known as Hat Sai Kha, a long sandy beach with groves of Casuarina trees along the shore.
Mai Khao Beach is quiet and yet the resorts here are full of families with kids who see it as an ideal place to vacation - away from the craziness of Patong Beach. The water is nice - shallow and calm during high-season.

Freedome Beach, Phuket Thailand 🇹🇭

It is just a few minutes away from Patong Beach, the busiest beach on the island and yet, except in January, which is the peak season, we found it surprisingly peaceful and quiet. So, what is the secret of Freedom Beach?

Beautiful and secluded: Known for soft white sand and clear blue waters, offering a tranquil escape.

Limited crowds: Generally peaceful, except during peak season in January.

Good snorkelling: Both ends of the beach are ideal for snorkelling.

Picturesque location: Easily accessible by longtail boat from Patong or nearby beaches, providing scenic views along the way.

Cons: Limited access: Only accessible by boat during high season or via a steep, challenging hike.

Costly boat rides: Longtail boat fares range from 1,200 to 1,500 baht, varying by group size and mood of boat operators.

Few amenities: Basic facilities like toilets and showers are available, but amenitiesare limited.

Inconsistent accessibility: The dirt road gate may or may not be open, making hiking access unpredictable.

Ko Chang island, known also as 'Elephant Island' named because of its elephant shaped headland, is Thailand's third largest island after Phuket and Samui. It is located around 300 kilometres east of Bangkok in Trat Province, in the Gulf of Thailand near the Cambodian border.

When is the best time to visit Ko Chang?

Ko Chang has three main seasons, the cool season runs from November to the end of February. This is when the island is at it's busiest, with guaranteed daily sunshine, stunning blue skies and calm seas. If you don't mind crowds, this is the ideal time to visit. During this time the average temperature is between 27C and 30C, you may experience the odd refreshing thunderstorm. The hot season follows the cool season and runs for 3 months, March to April. During these months the temperature is over 33C most days and along with the high humidity it can get uncomfortable. You'll find yourself sweating when standing still. The months of April and May are also the usual holiday months for Thais, so the tourist areas of the island can still be busy. Especially during Songkran, Thai New Year, which is from 13 - 15 April..
