State Ministry of Education announces senior 4 results with the new grade system
The Minister of General Education and Instruction in Western Bahr el Ghazal State, on Friday morning, announces the results of the secondary school examinations for the year 2023.
In a press conference, the Minister of Education, Simon Atuai Akot, explains that the results of the secondary school came according to a new system, which is grading system and not percentages.
Simon Athuai says that the number of schools that sat for the exam in the state is 33 secondary schools, and the total numbers of candidatesโ were 4018 male and female students, among them 1,885 passed and 2,133 failed.
Athuai, explains the new system and says the new system did not specify the percentages or performance of the schools, whether good or bad performances.
He also indicates that the state has obtained the performance of B+, which is the tenth grade value.
The Minister however congratulates the 1,885 students who passed with different percentages and explains that they are qualified to enter universities and higher institutes.
He therefore, appeals to the students who were not lucky that they have enough time to return and fill out the forms without any restrictions.
Minister asks all the schools directors that they should not take more than 3,000 South Sudanese pounds from the students while taking their results.
It is mentioned that the number of students who sat for the exam in the academic year 2022 was 2,381 students, 2,248 passed and 133 failed, while for the academic year 2023, the number of students who sat increased by 1,637, but the failure rate in this year is higher than the success rate.
Students sat for the exam from 4th December 2023, and this is the first time that the results have been delayed for more than seven months.
