SPIDO Incollaboration with GELA with funding from UNDP has over the weekend handed over land documents to 10 vulnerable people of Hatiha in Nyong Payam of Torit county in south Sudans eastern Equatoria state. Most are second and third class plots from Hai Adisababa , Morwari, and Ibalany costing SSP 200,000 each.
"In this world if you have no land documents, it will be grab from you, we have some citizens whose land were grab from them, vulnerable people couldn't afford and those with power will photocopy documents to be resold to others because you have no money and no one cares ", Mario Jackson Abuwaraga , one of the beneficiary spoke during the event

At least 4085 candidates across 154 examinations sitting centers in eastern Equatoria state are sitting for 2024 south Sudan certificate of primary leaving examinations.
1933 are females and 2152 are males.
Officials say the number is higher than that of last year
" Today marks the beginning of the south Sudan certificate of primary education in 2024, we have received all the index numbers for all the candidates and the time table is in place. A 29 Year old man identified as Ofere Moliho has been killed in an attempted cattle raid in Haforiere village, Torit county of south Sudans eastern Equatoria state on Saturday
" The incident happened yesterday,(Saturday) when a group of three youth from Hiyala went to Haforiere and they fell in ambush since they had tensions and this incident happened at around midday. Maybe they were trying to raid but they fell in ambush and one person was shot dead named Ofere Moliho 29 years old", Gabriel Ohide sub chief of Hiyala told the voice of Eastern Equatoria state radio 97.5 FM

The security situation along the Tseretenya border remains tense after the Ugandan people defense Force allegedly raided two kraals of cattle including oxen.
"You see the mood of all people there is scary, they all don't want to talk and words coming from them are bad, this needs interventions. The company is demanding payment of Shs712 million for construction work completed at the school. In protest, students have marched to the district headquarters. Police officers have been deployed to manage the situation.

SSPDF soldier identified as Pvt Chan Jang lost his life after unknown criminal shot him in Loriok , Budi county of south Sudans eastern Equatoria state over the weekends
Kimotong payam administrator Mr Arkangelo Lokolimoi told state radio that the incident occured on Sunday at around 6:00 pm while the diseased soldier was burning charcoal for survival
"The footmarks entered the mountain where people are mining gold, he was stuffed by knife and when he tried to run then he was shot instantly.such act is not good because when a soldier is looking for ways of survival by cutting trees, let no criminal interfere, because he is helping himself and the family", he said

At least three children aged between 8-12 have been abducted by suspected Murle of greater Pibor administrative area from Kasengor of Kapoeta East county over the weekend

Eastern Equatoria state government on Thursday disposes and burnt 2.5 metric tones of expired and counterfeit goods in Torit
The goods inclusive of soft drinks, liquor, food items, cosmetics, paints, Washing powder among others Director general at state ministry of trade and industry confirmed the confiscated items are not worthy for human consumption
"We have so far confiscated interms of tonnes at least more than 2.5 tones both expired and counterfeit goods that doesn't meet the standards . It won't be worthy for a trader to continue selling this product at the same price B's it's value has already gone ", Ihude said

Authorities in Kapoeta South county of south Sudans eastern Equatoria state are investigating the killing of a cattle trader who was shot dead in Katiko payam on Monday.
Aurelio Loparan, the area chief and eye witness told 97.5 FM that the arm group of three Stormed his home at 6;00 pm, shooting and killing his friend on spot
" This friend of mine is called Longokwo Lorot aged 25 and the incident happened around 6;00 pm and I even got the suspect who was shot and ran, he is currently on alert with his gun at hand with bullets and the diseased is a trader who used to buy cattle ", local chief said

The long serving Torit local Chief, Mr. Obusuk Michael, the sub_chief of Morwari B quarter council, Eastern Equatoria state, has presented his resignation letter after serving the area community for six years.

According to Michael, his resignation came after the community failed to get his successor which he said should have been serving while he is on his mission for further studies.

A 45-year-old prison officer suffocated to death while working on an underground water connection in Torit on Tuesday.

The deceased, identified as Lt Dominic Abraham, was reportedly using a generator underground, which suddenly went off, cutting his oxygen supply.
