: A GOVERNOR WHO ACKNOWLEDGES THIS TRUTH LIVES LONGER
I do not support this idea of airport receptions for state Governors. Instead, Governors can enjoy such receptions upon return to their state jurisdictions.
Juba International Airport reception ceremonies should be a reserve of the head of state and foreign dignitaries.
I believe that this should be the order at Juba International Airport. Reception of state Governors by their supporters near airside poses security and reputation risks, not just to the integrity of the airport but also the country’s image internationally.
Whenever a visiting governor lands on the runway, supporters don’t observe aviation security protocols. People mill about, shouting and photographing sensitive objects.
One of the aviation safety rules maintains that airside is an exclusive space for airmen and attached personnel. Aircraft, too, don’t need disturbance — noise or physical interference. This rule is openly violated at Juba International Airport.
You often see unauthorized persons wander around in flip flops 🩴; others with brushing stick and spitting randomly.
While I recognize the stature of a state Governor, I think hosting his or her reception at the coordination office or residence should be advised in future. Two or three officials can receive him/her from the airport, with no fanfare. This is to say the Governor is number one in their respective state jurisdictions, but a resident in the capital region.
In the concept of power, one must recognize the limits of their authority. Therefore, Governors must contend with this fact. Your authority applies expressly within your state.
