What kind of a reward will President Kiir’s Administration accord Gen. Garang Mabil Deng, while he is still alive?

By Ateny Wek Ateny

I woke up this morning and logged into my Facebook’s Wall as usual and saw the picture of Gen. Garang Mabil Deng published. Before I could read what was written above the picture of this great man, I almost collapsed. I thought it was another bad news. However, it was an article written by Gen. Aleu Ayieny Aleu in praise of Gen. Garang Mabil, published on Facebook Timeline of Dr. Thiik Yak Cithiik. I was relieved.

In fact, Gen. Aleu wrote what I have been thinking about for two years now. The question as to what can the SPLM- led government do to reward Gen. Garang Mabil Deng, while he is till alive, has not only been my question, but also from general public. Gen. Garang Mabil has been one of the few selfless living liberator I can never imagine.

Gen. Garang Mabil Deng is truly a nationalist of first order. In the aftermath to the formation of the then Government of Southern Sudan in 2005, Gen. Garang Mabil was left out both in the army and in the political arena, but he kept quite unshakenly. He never uttered any bad word against the government even when he saw men/women from other armed groups flourishing in the army he once defended from being destroyed by these groups.

Another thing Gen. Mabil did was to volunteer for the defense of Juba when he heard that the SPLM/A IO forces were marching on Juba, and was shot on his armed at Nile Safari. He then refused to go for treatment, but President Kiir gave orders for medical transfer and treatment of Gen. Garang in Kenya. He was unhappy about the senseless war that broke out between brothers and sisters, but he felt duty bound to defend the government in Juba.

We cannot mention how best Garang Mabil fought the successive Khartoum Regimes. One major battle he fought, was the attempt by the SPLA to capture Juba in 1990, under over all command of our hero Dr. John Garang de Mabior. Amongst the commanders, Gen. Garang Mabil was distinguished and exceedingly brave. After all, he doesn’t care how he is being treated today. It is hard and rare to see Gen. Garang Mabil complaining about himself, albeit he is not feeling well now and needed further treatment.

In nutshell, Gen. Garang Mabil is a social giant too. He took to burial almost every comrade that died since 2005. Garang Mabil always pay last respect to anyone that died and buried in South Sudan. He does this exceptionally, without regard to ethnicity/tribe, clan, sub-clan, section, sub-section or religious creed or political affiliation.

If there is any one person that has demolished tribal or sectional boundaries, then it is Garang Mabil undisputedly. In one similar event when he had to accompany the body of the late Hon. Gabriel Matur Malek on January 10th, 2021 aboard the Helicopter SSAF-104, Gen. Garang survived the crash together with all those onboard while crashed-landing in Cueibet, Lakes State.

I believe God saved everyone onboard because of Garang Mabil. God also loves those who were onboard with him during the crash, but God did not want to let Garang Mabil dies like that. He always had good intention and can hardly miss single burial and funeral. I am inspired by Gen. Garang Mabil social connectivity. I can confirm that I also make sure I attend any funeral so long I get the information, albeit I hardly attend burial because I get emotional. Nevertheless, I still fall back behind Garang Mabil on this exceptional traits.

Lastly, I am amazed by Garang Mabil’s energy even when he is at his 70s years of age. Last week, I was told he (Garang) travelled to Aweil to es**rt the body of a friend, and was told that Hon. Gen. Maker Thiong Maal has passed on. So, he had to travel by road from Aweil to pass Juba for Bor to attend the burial of the late Ustaz Maker Thiong Maal. In the same week, he had to travel to Tonj to attend the burial of uncle Chief Malek Akuien who also died in Juba - aged 100 years old.

Moreover, Garang Mabil doesn’t care about the age of the person that is reported to have passed on. He can attend, anytime anywhere. He is so much loved by people, young and old. So, I am requesting H.E President Kiir to consider Garang Mabil for the position that will let him do public relation for the President. It is ridiculous if, like usual we wait for his death to pay Million dollars for his funeral. I know, if Garang Mabil is to pass on (God forbid) it would be a disaster for the whole country. He must be shown how we love him now, while he lives on. Otherwise, Garang Mabil would be an asset neglected.

To the Western world, the new world order carriers, the global LGBTQ+ community, and feminists who are reacting negatively to the photo of me and my lovely wife:

I want to let you know that constant worries, anxieties, and faking things in the name of civilization, and pretending to align with the new world, are not healthy.

Many of you ask questions like:
Why did you wait for her when she was a child?
Why did you groom her when she was young?
You groomed a child, and this and that…
Let me make it clear: I cannot explain this to you because I know many of you live in despair, lacking hope, love, and peace of mind, so, it's exactly that’s none of your business.

In Nuer and Dinka cultures, as well as biblically,
it is healthy and acceptable to choose a girl and wait for her to grow up and become an adult before marrying her. This is a normal practice, it happened in the past, and it still happens now. You also need to understand the differences between betrothal, dating, and direct marriage.

The uniqueness of our story is that we took a photo to remind ourselves of the bond we shared. But in Nuer and Dinka cultures, many people symbolize this kind of promise with a bracelet or another token, signifying that someone is waiting for the girl to grow up before getting married.

Biblical Context:
The Bible describes situations where a man waits for a young girl to grow up before marrying her, with the consent of her family.
For example:
1. Judah and Tamar (Genesis 38):
Tamar, the widow of Judah's sons Er and Onan, was told by Judah to remain in her father’s house until his youngest son, Shelah, grew up. Judah promised she would marry Shelah when he was old enough, though he later failed to fulfill this promise. But I fulfilled mine.
2. Shechem and Dinah (Genesis 34):
While this story may not be identical to our situation, this story also involves cultural marriage negotiations.

✅Our Story:
I made a promise, and I fulfilled it.
Well done Gatdonga. But I will not explain to you why I promise to marry her, since you have no sense to understand the beauty of characters in the woman that deserve this type of promise. You're busy promoting the Western culture free of benefits from the owners of the culture.

✅For your information, I never dated her. The photo was taken when I was leaving Ethiopia for Sudan, as a way to ensure I wouldn’t forget her wherever I went. She also left Ethiopia for Uganda and Kenya, and we were apart for 9 years in a row. When I decided to marry in 2024, I remembered her and began searching for her. I discovered she was living in Kenya while I was in Dubai. I traveled to see her, met her family officially, when she turned 19-20 years, and we got married. Now, we are a family.

Continue faking your Western World things, or take it to a nearby court. Because you're in the life where there is no love, trust and all the Godly things. You're living from relationship to relationship, from divorce to divorce, and from drugs to mental problems, from happy marriages to divorce and child support cases. Most men have gone mad in the West, due to the unhealthy culture of Western civilization. Where adultery and Fornication is normal and being preach like the gospel of the lord God everywhere you go.

Don't come back to us and destroy our culture.

Blow is my lovely wife and I, at Dubai International airport.

BREAKING NEWS: "MY FATHER HAS TWO YEARS LEFT" – ABBA MARCUS (JOSE CHAMELEONE’S SON)

In a shocking revelation, Abba Marcus, the eldest son of Ugandan music legend Jose Chameleone, has sparked controversy with a statement that has left fans and followers of the singer reeling. During a recent conversation, Abba reportedly claimed, "My father has two years left," raising speculation and concerns among his father’s fans and the public.

The 19-year-old, who has been building a career in music and sports, did not clarify whether his statement referred to his father's health, career, or other personal matters. Chameleone, known for his resilience and dominance in the music industry for over two decades, has not yet responded to his son's comments.

This news comes amid the hype surrounding Chameleone's upcoming concert in Moyo on December 20th, which has been anticipated as a major highlight of his career.

Fans are eager for clarity, with many using social media to express their support and concerns. As speculation swirls, all eyes are now on the Mayanja family for further updates.

The decision taken by the ministry of finance and Revenue Authority to suspend the financial bill 2024 is commendable as this will ease the stalemate between the government and the traders at our international border.
However, this decision squarely benefits the traders as they will continue to impose unaffordable prices of goods. I hope there is an agreement with the traders to reduce the prices as the government lower the exchange rate to 300 SSP per dollar.
It is imperative to also note that, hereon, the government will have difficulties in enforcing any sovereign law that protects the national interests. Foreign entities with support from some quarters within the country are determined to hold the government hostage and render it ineffective.
This is how the NGOs Act 2016 was resisted from its full implementations by donors and powerful INGOs. Similarly when Juba City Council attempt to regulate water tanks, not to mention the issuance of work permits and now the financial bill 2024.
These events shouldn’t be ignored by the government as the sovereign power is under check by unknown and invisible forces.

Meet Hon. Arthur Akuien Chol Dut Akol Angok, the first Aweilian to graduate from university with bachelor's degree

Hon. Arthur Akuien Chol, who is currently an MP in the National Legislative Council of State claimed to be the first Aweilian to graduate with university degree. Akuien claimed in his book "A LIFE FIGHTING FOR MY PEOPLE " that he graduated in 1970 from the University of Freiburg, Switzerland 🇨🇭 with bachelor's degree in Economics.

He narrated that after sitting for Cambridge Certificate (Secondary Education Certificate) in 1963 in Rumbek Senior Secondary School with first grade. He made a bold decision to join William Deng Nhial who was fighting for the independence and self determination of Southern Sudan. Akuiendit was admitted at the University of Khartoum, but he turned it down because he wanted to fight for his marginalised people of Southern Sudan

On June 1963, he and his fellow students left Rumbek trekking to Central Africa and then finally found their way through Congo where William Deng Nhial was residing with other exiled politicians of Southern Sudan. As they were young men in their early twenties and bachelors at the same time, they were led by senior youth, the late Gen. Kawac Makuei Mayar who was then in his early thirties and married. Kawac Makuei left his wife and children in Southern Sudan and led his fellow politically angry youth to Congo trekking through deep forest without food, forcing them to survive on wild fruits and honey.

Upon their arrival in UN camp in Congo, they were received by their fellow country's men and women, and then the following day, William Deng Nhial arrived and inquired them about situation at home since they were new arrivals.

Afterwards, Deng Nhial saw most of them were young and students who finished their secondary education recently. So, he urged them to join universities in Democratic Republic of Congo then known as Zaire. Deng Nhial helped them by having their certificates sneaked from Khartoum to Congo and then sought scholarships from UNHRC and Christian organisations, and finally got them admitted at various universities in Congo.

Akuien Chol was admitted at university to do French Language for 2 years in Universite Lovonium, Congo Because Congo was/is a French speaking country. That was 1964. In 1966, he accomplished his French course. In 1967, with help of his uncle, Catholic priest, father Salvatore Atak Riak, he got a 4 year fully funded scholarship to the University of Freiburg, Switzerland.

Though he was interested to do medicine which was a 5 year programme in Switzerland, he was only offered a 4 year course leaving him with no other choice but to embark on pursuing economics programme.

In 1967, he took his first flight from Kinishasa, capital of DR Congo to Geneva, Switzerland 🇨🇭 and finally took train from there to go to University of Freiburg where he was welcome by his fellow Southerners like Lawrence Wol Wol amongst others who were studying in the University of Freiburg.

In 1970, he graduated with bachelor's degree at age of 28, and then in 1972 after signing of Addis Ababa Agreement, he returned to Sudan and landed in their ancestral land Aweil as the first graduate in the land of Malual Buoth Anyar

An open letter to Gen. Akech Tong Aleu

Subject: Help me, Gen!

Gen, forgive me for publicly making my appeal to you. This is because the matter is so urgent and grave, and I can’t physically access you. And as such, I opted to pass my message to you through social media platforms. No bad intention!

Before I get into the crux of my open letter, allow me to remind you of the occasions we met in:

1. When you were appointed to replace Hon. Nyangdeng Malek as a Governor of Warrap State, and came to Juba for your swearing-in, I met you in your Hotel room in Crown Hotel. I was with those of Simon Machuar Manhkeracnaak Deng , Morris Mabior, Gen. Madit Malek, among others. Infact, we were the activists against the Government of Hon. Nyangdeng;

2. After your swearing-in, the consultative meeting was conducted in Freedom Hall. Among the committees organising that occasion, I was put in the secretariat committee with Dr. Kur Bona Bol Abur ,and Molana Bol Madut Ayii . We complied the minutes and resolutions of that consultative meeting into a booklet. The introduction of the booklet was your brief biography.

If my memory can serve me well, we produced around 100 copies and sent them to you in Kuacjok, with facilitation of Hon. Makuc Makuc Ngongdit, Gen. Achol Cyier, and Hon. Ariech Mayar Ariech.

With this brief reminder of our past encounters, I hope you can recall a picture of the then a young and short boy. That’s me, Simon Yel Yel.

Having provided the above explanations, allow me to give you a glimpse of the nature of the problem in which I am now seeking your intervention or help.

Last week, I received bad news that I am wanted with other people by Police under section 48 of Penal Code, 2008, “ Acts Committed by Several Persons in Furtherance of Common”. The complaint isn’t clear, and the offence committed isn’t stated, too.

Therefore, that’s the problem facing me. Having done soul searching, and recalled all my past actions, either with other people or alone, and writings thereof, I found nothing criminatory. My conscience is clear, I committed no offence against anyone, or against the State.

However, if there is such an offence which I might have committed against the State or some Government officials, which is unbeknownst to me, I am kindly requesting you to intervene so that I am not arrested, but forgiven. That’s the action point I am humbly requesting you to take, Gen. I will apologise and promise not to repeat it again!

Though the matter isn’t connected to you by all means whatsoever, but you’re the only person that I know who can urgently help me. Like as Dr. Costello Garang, in his recorded phone call, told Hon. Stephen Lual, “ I will not sack you because of your children, I didn’t see your children in the picture”, Gen, kindly help me for the sake of my young family!

Jail is jail. It's bad. Whether for a day or years. I can’t proof my innocence in jail. No. Gen, help me before I get into jail!

I am an ardent supporter of this regime. And I can’t be party to any activity that undermines any institution, defames the Government, or intends to do something bad against the Government. I don’t pay allegiance and loyalty to anyone save the President and this Government. And my allegiance and loyalty will always remain intact. I have no another Government than this one. Gen, help me, I committed no crime!

In conclusion, I am just a vulnerable young man. And, If you intervened and have me forgiven, not arrested, I will listen and strictly adhere to all instructions. I promise even to quit social media activism. I won’t disappoint you, if you help me. Gen, help me!

Sincerely yours,

Simon Yel Yel
