Monumentous: H.E. Gen. Jadalla Embarks on Gubernatorial Tour to Counties

Juba, Oct 7, 2024 (CESGPU) - H.E. Gen. Augustino Jadalla Kamilo Wani, the Governor of Central Equatoria State on Monday has embarked on his monumentous tour to the counties across the State.

The tour is taking place under the theme, "consolidating durable peace, unity, security and stability in Central Equatoria State."

The Governor has been accompanied by senior State and national government officials including area Members of Parliament among others.

Hon. Francis Luwala, the Secretary General of the Central Equatoria State government explained that the Governor is travelling in this significant trip "and most important by road because he wants to acquaint himself with the security situation across the State, understand the life of our people and the State road infrastructure. This journey is also to give hope to our people on how much the government is concerned about the situation on ground among several reasons".

The office of the Governor of Western Equatoria State has confirmed that the suspects arrested by the National Security Service in Yambio for possessing two money counterfeiting machines and more than 100 fake US Dollar bundles are officials in the Governor’s office.

On Wednesday evening, the state-run broadcaster, SSBC, quoted the acting Director of Public Relations at the National Security Internal Bureau, George Luate, saying the suspects were key administrators in the office of Governor Alfred Futuyo.

“In the presence of the search, two local made counterfeit machine and 124 bundles of united state black dollar, a new consignment of machine and a new printer machine were found.” Luate told the SSBC.

“The apprehended are the following three key suspects; General William John Jamal, Chief Administrator in the office of the governor, Western Equatoria State, Brigadier General Alex Martin Angelo, Private Secretary to the governor and Mr. Peter, the operator of the counterfeiting machines.” He added.

Reacting to the case, the Press Secretary in the office of the Governor of Western Equatoria State confirmed the arrest of the three suspects but claimed they are not connected to the Administration of the Governor’s office.

“The house where the suspects and machines were arrested is unfinished building of the Governor where the criminals used for the committing allegedly crime. Alex Daniel Digi said.

“The two suspects (William Juma Jamal & Alex Martin) arrested are officers in the office of the Governor, but this incident is an individual crime which doesn't connect to the administration of the Governor’s office. Digi claimed.

He went ahead to appeal to the National Security Service to proceed with the investigation and ensure the suspects face the law.

South Sudan Defense Forces (SSPDF) says it is in pursuit of Feel Free - comedian turned rebel leader - after he escaped a ‘surprise attack’ on his hideouts in Eastern Equatoria State on Saturday.

SSPDF spokesperson Maj.Gen L*l Ruai Koang, in a statement on his official page on Monday, said the forces received “actionable intelligence” on the whereabouts of the leader of People’s Freedom Movement (PFM), an outfit formed in April against the government of South Sudan.

“On June 1st, 2024, at 5PM, own mobile Infantry unit from 7th Infantry Brigade, 7th Infantry division, received actionable intelligence and as a result, launched a surprise attack on Feel free's hideout at the foot of Bio mountain, Mangalli Payam, Magwi County, Eastern Equatoria State," the statement said.

Gen. Koang said that the engagement resulted to the killing of two PFM fighters, while their leader, Feel Free, narrowly escaped with his two bodyguards.

He noted that SSPDF units are in “hot pursuit” of the leader of the outlawed outfit, “with end state of either neutralising the high value target or get him arrested in order to face justice.”

Feel Free formed his PFM movement in April in Eastern Equatoria State to allegedly free citizens from oppression.

President Kiir declares the Bank of South Sudan an independent institution

President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Thursday evening declared the Bank of South Sudan as an independent Government Institution in terms of its powers and functions without any interference from other Government institutions and individuals according to the Republican Order read on State-owned TV, SSBC.

“I, Salva Kiir Mayardit, President of the Republic of South Sudan issue the following; that the Bank of South Sudan is independent in terms of its powers and functions without any interference from other Government institutions and individuals to ensure that the Bank independently implements monetary policies that promote domestic price stability, currency issuance, regulations of the financial sector, holding and managing the official exchange results of the Country as well as the implementation of its independent recruitment and policy,” the order reads in parts.

The order stated that the independence of the Bank of South Sudan should not prevent it from working hand in hand with other relevant financial institutions and sectors.

“The independence of the Bank of South Sudan shall not prevent it from working hand in hand with other relevant financial institutions and sectors,” the order reads.

President Kiir in a Republican order urged all relevant government institutions and other financial institutions including individuals to comply with the order.

“All relevant government institutions and other financial institutions including individuals are hereby directed to comply with this order,” the order stated.

The Bank of South Sudan was under the supervision of the Ministry of Finance and Planning before the Republican Order declared its independence.

The Bank of South Sudan is currently seeking a $250 million loan from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to stimulate economic growth, Bank of South Sudan’s Governor, Dr. James Alich Garang said in African Development Bank’s annual meetings in Nairobi, Kenya on Tuesday.
