Singer Kaboy passes away

South Sudanese singer Kaboy, known for his hit song “Yaaga Anguem”, has passed away this morning at Mapuordit Hospital in Lakes State.

The news of his death was confirmed by Promoter Lieto Paransaw in a heartfelt social media post, stating, “Rest in peace Kaboy.”

Kaboy’s untimely demise is a significant loss to South Sudan’s entertainment industry, where he was celebrated for his unique contributions to music and culture.

Fans and fellow artists have taken to social media to express their shock and grief at the loss of such a talented and beloved artist. More details surrounding his death are yet to be disclosed.

Kaboy will be remembered as a musical icon who brought joy and inspiration to many through his art.

: Is the South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority (SSCAA) a tribal syndicate?

A look at the list of directors at the SSCAA raises concerns about regional representation. Many, if not most, names reportedly point to a single region, Equatoria. Does this imply there are no qualified professionals from Upper Nile or Bahr el Ghazal? Or is this a reflection of leadership failure by the Director General of SSCAA?

Our airport ranks among the worst globally and at the same time the most expensive with zero navigation aids except Radio, possibly even in the universe, if one were to believe in the existence of Aliens with wherever they land their UFOs! Are the individuals listed truly qualified for their roles, or are their appointments driven by connections rather than merit? It’s evident that the SSCAA requires a comprehensive overhaul, with competent and qualified South Sudanese professionals taking charge.

South Sudan has invested millions in training pilots and engineers at world-class institutions. Yet these skilled professionals remain sidelined, their expertise wasted. When the President used to fly on RwandAir, classmates of South Sudanese Air Force pilots who hold top regional(actually world) qualifications were in the cockpit. So why does the government overlook such skill?

It’s time to tap into the expertise of these forgotten aviators. Allowing unqualified individuals to dominate the sector undermines the investment made in building aviation knowledge and stifles progress. Will the government address this issue or let the aviation industry continue to deteriorate? The choice is clear.
