Mogalens Film is both a film collective and a film production house, which brings the most creative storytellers together from Somalia to write, document, produce, direct and create docu- mentary films, shorts, docu-fiction, film installations, educational workshops, panel discussions, and community filming programming. Our aim is to ignite a film revolution in Somalia, after the 25 year absence o
f all creative mediums in Mogadishu due to the onset of civil war. We want a new generation of filmmakers born out of Mogadishu to create narratives that question, intrigue, and inspire moviegoers globally. Mogalens aims to satiate the creative appetites of worldwide audiences eager for fresh perspectives and new voices coming out of the Horn of Africa. Year after year, Mogalens will pursues new ways to introduce more people to the most original and authentic storytelling. On the production front, Mogalens specializes in national and international co-production, with a commitment to make quality, short, feature, documentary and narrative films for both the So- mali and Global marketplace. Based between Mogadishu, Somalia and Stockholm, Sweden, Mogalens focuses on telling the great narratives of the human experience, told from the perspective of the most vulnerable populations. We’re fascinated by perfectly flawed characters that tell their stories in unique ways and in a variety of genres to make movies that resonate with audiences both domestically and abroad.
