Cathrine Sillah, Chairperson of the Sierra Leone Women’s Premier League Board, announced that no female matches will be played on dusty pitches. She stated that the winning team of this season will be awarded NLe 400,000, while the runners-up will receive NLe 300,000. These comments were made during a press briefing held at the SLFA in Kingtom, attended by journalists from across the country, in anticipation of the Female Elite League for the 2024/25 season. TWO NOVEMBER 26TH, 2023 FUGITIVES KILLED IN A CROSSFIRE

Yesterday marked the first anniversary of the failed coup attempt in Sierra Leone, and coincidentally, the Ministry of Information and Civic Education released an update regarding operations targeting the coup fugitives from November 26, 2023.

In a successful operation conducted yesterday afternoon on November 26, 2024, Sierra Leone’s security forces apprehended two key fugitives involved in the previous year's coup attempt. Acting on credible intelligence, Captain Aiah Senesie and Captain T.L. Konteh were found at a hideout in the Western Area Rural District, where they were reportedly planning further destabilizing actions. Special Forces moved swiftly to apprehend them.

However, the fugitives resisted arrest and opened fire on the security forces. Both individuals sustained fatal injuries during the exchange.

The government remains committed to preserving peace and stability in Sierra Leone. Efforts to locate and apprehend the remaining fugitives continue. The government extends its gratitude to the citizens for their ongoing cooperation and encourages anyone with useful information to report it to local law enforcement.

Meanwhile, the speculation surrounding the presence of Captain Senesie and Captain T.L. Konteh in Freetown raises significant concerns regarding the safety and security of Sierra Leoneans, as both individuals were previously listed as fugitives from another coup attempt. Following the November 26 incident, several personnel from the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) were declared wanted, with rumors suggesting that others had gone AWOL.

Recently, several individuals were arrested across the border in Guinea and are now facing court-martial, while others remain at large.
