*Chief Whip Dickson Momoh Rogers Inaugurates Modern Police Station in Kenema District*

The Honorable member of parliament representing Pujehun District, Dickson Momoh Rogers, showcased his commitment to public safety as he unveiled a newly constructed police station in Levuma town, situated in Sierra Leone's eastern region of Kenema District. The official commissioning and handover of the facility took place on Sunday, November 26th, 2023, in a ceremony graced by local dignitaries and law enforcement officials.
The inauguration event saw Honorable Dickson Rogers, also serving as the Chief Whip of the Sierra Leone House of Parliament, presenting the building to the town chief. The esteemed Commissioner of Police for the Eastern Region, Andrew mustapha kamara received the station on behalf of the Inspector General of Police.

This state-of-the-art police station boasts a layout featuring seven office spaces and two detention cells, segregated for male and female detainees, emphasizing inclusivity and respect for human rights. Additionally, the facility includes a well-equipped three-bedroom apartment to facilitate accommodation for police personnel.
The handover encompassed a comprehensive set of office equipment, stationeries, and a brand-new motorbike, enhancing the operational capacity of the law enforcement team stationed at Levuma town.

During the ceremony, Honorable Dickson Rogers emphasized the critical role of the police station in bolstering security measures, fostering community trust, and ensuring swift and efficient law enforcement responses within the region.
"It's a privilege to construct and inaugurate this police station, a symbol of my commitment to support his excellency President Bio in ensuring community safety. This initiative aims to bridge the gap between law enforcement agencies and the people they serve. Through collaborative efforts, we aspire to create an environment where every citizen feels secure and can rely on efficient law enforcement. On his part the Commissioner of Police for the Eastern Region, Andrew mustapha Kamara said the establishment of the modern police station stands as a testament to the dedication of Honorable Dickson Momoh Rogers towards promoting safety, justice, and law enforcement effectiveness in the Kenema District. It signifies a significant stride towards enhancing public security and reinforcing the collaborative efforts between government authorities and local communities in Sierra Leone.

The provision of this well-equipped police station in Levuma town underscores the crucial partnership between the government and local stakeholders. It’s also noted that Levuma town, where the newly constructed police station stands, holds a special significance for Honorable Dickson Momoh Rogers as his ancestral homeland. The Mamasa Life Saving Hospital has on Thursday, November 9, 2023, officially inaugurated the Mamasa Maternity Home at circular road in Freetown, an extension of its maternity department based in Bo. The ceremony was chaired by Honorable Doctor Sidie Tunis, Speaker of the ECOWAS parliament, who emphasized the historical challenges faced by pregnant women and children in accessing healthcare in Freetown.
Honorable Dickson Rogers, CEO and founder of Mamasa Life Saving Hospital and Chief Whip of the Sierra Leone House of Parliament, expressed gratitude to his wife for initiating the establishment of the Maternity Branch. He acknowledged the significant improvement in healthcare under President Bio and assured the public of highly skilled medical staff providing effective and efficient services for pregnant women, lactating mothers, and children.
Reflecting on President Bio's call to enhance the healthcare sector, the chief whip urged other political appointees to contribute to the well-being of the people.

He emphasized the need for a better health system in Sierra Leone, drawing from his own experience receiving treatment in England.

*Sierra Leone Police Neutralize Notorious Armed Robber in Freetown*

FREETOWN, September 21, 2023 - In a swift and decisive response to a security incident, the Sierra Leone Police, in collaboration with the military, neutralized a notorious armed robber and violent thug known as Foday Alieu, aka "Big Fish."

The incident unfolded this afternoon in the bustling Central Business District of Freetown, along Lightfoot Boston Street.

According to the press release issued by the Sierra Leone Police, Foday Alieu approached a female police officer deployed near the United Bank for Africa (UBA) on Charlotte Street, snatching her rifle and initiating a reckless firing spree. Despite repeated attempts to persuade him to drop the weapon and cease his dangerous actions, Alieu continued to pose a severe threat to public safety.

The situation escalated when a military officer intervened, also urging Alieu to surrender. Unfortunately, these efforts proved fruitless.

In accordance with Section 16 (2) of the Sierra Leone Constitution, Act No. 6 of 1991, which empowers authorities to take action to protect public safety, the military officer was forced to use lethal force to neutralize the threat posed by Alieu.

During the incident, one female passerby sustained a gunshot wound to the head. Fortunately, preliminary reports suggest that her injury is not life-threatening. Foday Alieu's body has been taken to the morgue, while the injured pedestrian has been transported to the hospital for medical care.

The Sierra Leone Police acted swiftly to bring the situation under control, and normalcy has been restored in the area.

The Security Sector reaffirms its commitment to providing security for all citizens of Sierra Leone and urges the public to continue their lawful activities while refraining from any form of lawlessness.
