Yesterday, the Chairman of the Karene District Council officially handed over two critical bridge construction sites to contractors. The projects include the bridge connecting Rosana and Mabala in Sanda Tendaren Chiefdom and the bridge linking Gbanti and Kunthai in Gbanti Chiefdom.

These bridges, funded by the government through the Road Maintenance Fund Administration, aim to address long-standing challenges and improve connectivity for the affected communities. The Chairman reaffirmed the Council's commitment to making 2025 a year of significant delivery and progress, bringing much-needed relief to the people of Sanda Tendaren and Gbanti Chiefdoms.

Former Central Parade, FCFC, and Mighty Blackpool Player Masingha Passes Away
A tragic turn of events has struck Sierra Leone’s football community as another Premier League player has passed away. Masingha, a former player for Central Parade, Freetown City Football Club (FCFC), and Mighty Blackpool, died on Thursday, January 9, 2025.
Masingha’s death follows closely on the heels of the passing of Abdul Kamara, popularly known as Kempes, creating a somber atmosphere in the nation’s football circles. Masingha was well-known for his contributions to the game, having played for several of the country’s top clubs. His performances on the pitch were marked by determination and skill, earning him admiration from fans and peers alike.
Tributes have been pouring in from across the football community, with many remembering Masingha not just for his talents but for his sportsmanship and dedication to the sport. In a significant milestone for education in Karene District, the Chairman of the Karene District Council has officially handed over the newly rehabilitated KDEC Primary School in Kamethe, located within the Sella Limba Chiefdom. The rehabilitation project, fully funded by the Council, aimed to restore the school, which had fallen into a deplorable state over the years.

During the handover ceremony, the Chairman Abdul Kandeh Turay reaffirmed his commitment to prioritizing the delivery of essential services to the people of Karene District.
