Radio Bankhi Solofaray FM 93.7 is a community station located in Kukuna Town, Bramaia Chiefdom, established in 2024 with the mission of simplifying lives and disseminating valuable information. However, the station serves as a platform for local voices, fostering community engagement and providing essential news, educational content, and entertainment tailored to the needs of the listeners in Bramaia & Khonimaka chiefdoms and even beyond.
Furthermore, through diverse programming that includes interviews, public announcement, music, local and national news. The said Radio station aims to empower its listeners by keeping them informed about local events, promote cultural heritage and community initiative programs, wherein it does not only enhances access to information but also strengthens the social fabric of the Chiefdom.
On behalf of the board and management of the aboved named radia station in Kukuna Town, Bramaia chiefdom, kambia district, it is my great pleasure to invite you all to the official opening Ceremony of our community radio station. This special program is scheduled on the 20th December, 2024 @ 10:00am prompt in kukuna town. You are all invited to witness this important historical occasion in our beloved chiefdom, your insight,expriences and outstanding experties and contributions will be needed to improve our Community Radio Station.
Your participation would greatly enhance the success of the ceremony and further elevate its impact.

Disabled and Orphaned Children’s Development - Sierra Leone Distributes School Materials to 30 Underprivileged Pupils in Bramaia and Khonimakha Chiefdoms

On Monday, September 9, 2024, the Disabled and Orphaned Children’s Development - Sierra Leone (DOC-SL) made a significant impact by distributing essential school materials to thirty (30) underprivileged pupils , including Disabled and orphans in Bramaia and Khonimaka Chiefdoms. The event, held at Kukuna Court Barry, the headquarters of Bramaia Chiefdom, marked a historic moment for the region.

The pupils who were selected from eight schools across the chiefdoms, received a comprehensive array of educational supplies. These included school uniforms, bags, books, shoes, pens, pencils, and other necessary learning materials. The event was aptly themed ‘Disable and Orphan Children Educational Supports Project,’ highlighting the organization’s commitment to supporting educational development in these areas.

Mohamed Dumbuya, also known as Frank Med the Executive Director of DOC-SL, explained that this initiative is about more than just providing school supplies. “Education is the key to success,” he stated. We decided to support these children to encourage them and ease the financial burden on their parents, who struggle to afford basic school necessities. The distribution targeted pupils from primary one to primary six, reflecting the organization’s dedication to establishing a solid educational foundation for young learners.

Dumbuya further noted that DOC-SL plans to extend this humanitarian support to additional chiefdoms across the District in the near future. He emphasized the organization’s belief in the crucial role of children as the future of society. By providing appropriate support, DOC-SL aims to prevent these children from engaging in detrimental activities that could hinder their progress and impact societal development.

The organization is registered with the Ministry of Social Welfare, Gender and Children's Affairs, as well as the Kambia District Council, is recognized for its commitment to expanding its outreach. Dumbuya reaffirmed the legitimacy and dedication of DOC-SL, which aims to broaden its impact and support more children and communities throughout Sierra Leone.

The community responded positively to the event. Parents, pupils, teachers, and other stakeholders expressed their gratitude for the support provided by DOC-SL. Many highlighted that assistance from humanitarian organizations like DOC-SL not only enhances educational opportunities but also contributes to community development. The organization was commended for its ongoing kindness and dedication to improving lives in the chiefdoms.

The Organization was Established in 2021, DOC-SL has been a pivotal force in promoting education and reducing illiteracy in Bramaia and Khonimaka Chiefdoms of Kambia District, northern Sierra Leone. The organization plays a critical role in the national development agenda by empowering disabled individuals, orphans, youth, women, and children through education and advocacy. DOC-SL’s efforts continue to resonate positively across the region, ensuring that more children have the opportunity to succeed and contribute to a brighter future for Sierra Leone.

Launching and Distribution of School Materials for Disabled and Orphan Children in Sierra Leone.

The Disabled and Orphan Children Sierra Leone organization is set to launch a new initiative aimed at supporting vulnerable school children in Bramaia and Khonimakha Chiefdoms. This project focuses on providing essential school materials to disabled and orphaned children, ensuring they have the tools needed to succeed in their education.

The initiative includes the distribution of crucial educational supplies such as books, uniforms, and other necessities. By addressing these basic needs, the organization aims to remove barriers to education and promote academic achievement among these vulnerable children.

The organization is inviting the communities of Bramaia and Khonimakha to join in celebrating this important occasion. The event will be held on the 9th September 2024, at Kukuna Court Barry, beginning at 10:30 a.m. This gathering will not only mark the launch of the project but also provide an opportunity for the community to show their support for the education and well-being of these children.

Through collective efforts, the organization believes that significant progress can be made in improving the lives of disabled and orphaned children in Sierra Leone. Your participation and support are crucial in making a positive impact and fostering a brighter future for all.
