To mark her birthday, Isha Johansen donates to newborns at Cottage Hospital on Christmas Day

Donating to newborns at the Cottage Hospital in Freetown has been a tradition by FIFA Council Member Madam Isha Johansen in celebration of her birthday. Year in year out, Madam Johansen would choose to celebrate her birthday with kids born on Christmas Day at the Cottage Hospital, Fourah Bay Road, Freetown - the same hospital she was born on December 25.

For the globally celebrated football administrator, there's no better way to celebrate one's birthday than giving back to the needy, especially her birthday mates.

In today's donation, about 10 newborns were beneficiaries of her kind gesture at the hospital this morning, including a set of twins. Each child receives a hamper containing assorted baby items plus cash support.

This move puts some smiles on the faces of the mothers who delivered a few hours before the donations were made this morning. The health workers also joined the parents in sending their prayers and gratitude to Madam Johansen.

Madam Johansen was represented by her son Malik, who made the handing over of the gifts to the beneficiaries on behalf of her mother. He spoke on the importance of supporting less privileged mothers who most times struggle to take care of their newborns.

The Ministry of Communication, Technology, and Innovation (MoCTI), in collaboration with Orange Sierra Leone, Huawei Sierra Leone, and UNICEF, has completed the second edition of the Sierra Leone ICT Training Program.

Aimed at equipping young graduates and secondary school students with crucial digital skills, the program trained 7,000 secondary school students across Sierra Leone’s Eastern, Northern, and North-Western regions.

The initiative involved 50 trainers and five supervisors, working with ten teams to deliver the training.
