SIERRA LEONE REACHES A NEW MILESTONE IN THE COMMONWEALTH GAMES IN BIRMINGHAM 2022.
Sierra Leone athletes, technical staff, and government officials that left Sierra Leone for the Commonwealth with the hope of bringing the first ever medal in the history of the Commonwealth games didn't go as planned. However, some positive outcomes were:
To start with, for the first time in the history of this country, athletes were on stage to compete in the Quarter-finals and Semi-finals respectfully at the Commonwealth games. Zainab Keita and Sarah Joo from The Sierra Leone Boxing Team were in the Quarterfinals whiles George Windham and Ibrahim Karim Bangura all participated in the Quarterfinals. Bangura is now in the Semi-finals of the men's 200 meters after qualifying with a time of 21.28 seconds. Sara Joo was disqualified for a thumb injury. Her disqualification was a shock to the whole delegation. A close source is saying her disqualification was masterminded by a Sierra Leonean based in the UK. Sports-loving fans are patiently waiting to know the decision that is going to be taken by the Sierra Leone government after investigating the stage management claim behind Sara's disqualifications. The Ministry of sports and the National Sports Authority will have something to count on in all sporting activities in the country. The Minister of Sports, Ibrahim Nyelenkeh has been very active in his ministry. Since his appointment in just a few years, Sierra Leone has been performing actively in the world with so many records. He has created that kind of momentum in sporting disciplines where all disciplines are trying to showcase themselves on the international stage. His activeness in sporting activities has just been demonstrated in the Commonwealth games where all disciplines that went to the Commonwealth games participated.
Hopeful medalist, Ibrahim Karim Bangura will be on track soon for the men's 200 -meters. Sierra Leoneans, both home and abroad are desperate with prayers

IBRAHIM NYELENKEH, HAIL, AFTER FOUR YEARS IN OFFICE AS MINISTER

Fans of sports both in the country and Sierra Leonean Diaspora have praised the efforts of Sierra Leone's Minister of Sports, Ibrahim Nyelenkeh, who has been in office for just four years but has already helped the country's sports ministry accomplish a great deal in that time.

When I spoke to a few of the fans, they cited the following reason as one of the reasons for the band's success, along with a few specific examples:

1. After years of disagreement between football stakeholders and the SLFA officials, his first triumph was the restoration of the Sierra Leone Premier League.

This was his first success ever. As a minister, he was successful in persuading both sides to participate in a series of discussions together so that football could be played in an environment that was favorable. In the end, he was able to close those gaps through conversations that is participatory by all.

2. His ministry was also responsible for the massive record-breaking financial support that the government provided for the 2019 Sierra Leone Premier League, which helps to revive football within the country.

3. After an absence of elections lasting eight years within football, his ministry was instrumental in persuading the various football stakeholders and the SLFA to host the first elective congress, and today there is a new “football president” that is accepted by all football stakeholders within the country.

4. His ministry has been pivotal in ensuring that the national team's (Leone Stars) financial needs are meted in all competitions, and we see this as a novelty in the history of this country's football.

Such contribution and support helped the country's finest players qualify for the AFCON in Cameron after 25 years of absence as a country.

5. Furthermore, several sporting activities in Sierra Leone face additional obstacles.

REASONS BEHIND BO RANGERS 68 YEARS LEAGUE TITLE DROUTH EDGING CLOSER.

*Clever signings, team spirit and the football lovers are all behind the team success* .

It is the fairytales that have gripped the imagination of millions around Sierra Leone and the world over, and like all other battles, this one will have a happy ending.

Unheralded sierra leone premier league club Bo Rangers, dismissed as the non- starter to win the Sierra leone premier league decades ago.
This club was tipped in 2018 to relegate. As recent as four years ago Bo Rangers were seen as one of the teams to play in the second tear of the country's football, and the idea of winning the league was a distant dream.
*Administrative restructuring*
After a hell of bad results in the first face of the 2018/19 season, the people of Bo cried to the board members for an immediate intervention to restructure the administration of the team, in order to save the only Southern region premier league club from going down to the lower league.
Immediate action was taken by dismissing all executive members in the then executive; coupled with the cry of the fan club for an indigen of the land to spare head the reformation process.
Babadi kamara, amongst many others was tipped, and he had no choice but to take the responsibility given to him by the people.
His first job was to act as acting chairman of the club, where he recruited Abdul Karim Bangura and Others, who worked tooth and nail to return the team to glory, there and then, they were all made permanent in their respective positions.

*Players recruitment*.

The entire Bo Rangers squad then could not even cost a hundred million leones as compared to other competitors with a barrage of talents and big-name players.

The signing of Abu Balar Toma, Nathaniel Tongor Fullah, Alpha B Conteh, Omega Thoronka, Kabba Tucker, and coach konneh was a beginning of a new era, leading to the team 9 unbeaten runs with 9 straight clean sheets.

Chairman Babadi Kamara,

SIERRA LEONE VS EQUATORIAL GUINEA PREVIEW

BY ALHAJI H KOROMA

Sierra Leone will play in this match coming off the back of a 2-2 Africa cup of Nations tied result against Ivory Coast. in that game sierra leone managed 39% possession and 7 attempts at goal with 4 on target.
For sierra leone, goals were scored by Bo Rangers striker Musa N Kamara in the 55th minutes and Randers striker Alhaji Kamara in the 93rd minutes.
On the other side, Ivory Coast got 18 shots with 8 of them on target. Ajax striker Sebastien Haller's 25th minutes and Arsenal winger Nicolas Pepe's 65th minute's goals were scored for Ivory Coast.

Coach John Keister is likely to stick with the same side that has gotten him two points in their opening two matches.
Sierra leone arrived at the AFCON largely unknown.
They certainly weren't expected to perform well according to pundits and yet still they have done great against the two African giants and former AFCON Champions.

Victory in this final match will send them into the last 16.

Opponent Equatorial Guinea got into the final group match second on the table. A point should be enough to secure a place in the last 16 while victory could propel them to the top of the group if ivory coast fails to beat Algeria.
The tournament did not get off to the best for Equatorial Guinea in their opening fixture as they went down 1-0 to Ivory Coast.
They would have been proud of their performance in that match considering the strength of the opposition.
Equatorial Guinea got the rewards in their last though, causing a huge shock by beating Algeria 1-0.
Esteban Obiang scored the only goal of the match with 20 minutes left to play.
Both of these sides have a chance of qualifying for the last 16.
It should be a cagey affair, one which plenty are backing to end level.

sierra have drawn their last two in AFCON while Equatorial Guinea had a win and a loss in their last two matches.

Sierra Leone has won two of their last four matches against Equatorial Guine

BABADI KAMARA INJECTS NEW ENERGY INTO LEONE STARS

BY ALHAJI H KOROMA

Leone Stars Team Manager, Babadi Kamara, has implemented a new bonus scheme for the national team as a boost to the players after their 2021 African Cup of Nations 2-2 draw with ‘The Elephants’ of Ivory Coast. Each player will receive a performance bonus of $1,000 totaling $28,000 for the whole squad.

With this action, the 28 players are now sure of receiving 5,000 as appearance fees, $1,500 as draw bonus, and $ 1,000 from the team manager as a performance bonus which sums up as $7,500 for each player after the Ivory coast draw.

According to the Team Manager, the performance bonus should be seen as a way to galvanize the team after the laudable comeback against the Ivory Coast, adding that this effort will inspire them ahead of the most important clash with Equatorial Guinea on Thursday, 20th January in Limbe, for a place in the knockout phase.

Since he has been appointed Team Manager for the national team, TM Babadi, the Government, and SLFA have arranged a lot of friendly matches to prepare the players physically and mentally for the AFCON 2021.

He is not just a team manager that sits and watches games but he also adds his technical ability to the team through consultations and discussions on match days.
As one of the team officials on the bench, he has been very supportive of the decision-making of the technical team of the Leone Stars in their matches against Algeria and Ivory Coast respectively. The Nations Cup Group E final matches will be a destiny decider by each of the four teams on Thursday, 20th January, in Cameroon.

On their part, the players praised the technical team for their hard work, patience, and direction. They also appreciated the love and the passion that the Team manager has been showing towards their participation in the AFCON since his appointment to the position.

The players further assured him that with this kind of commitment by the technical team, they will

LEONE STARS DECIDE AGAINST IVORY COAST ON SUNDAY

BY ALHAJI H KOROMA

Sierra Leone will be looking to get their Nations Cup up and running when they square off against Ivory Coast at the Japoma stadium in Douala on Sunday January 16th 2022.

This will be the first encounter between the two sides since 6th September 2015 when they ended in a goalless draw, after having lost six straight times in their previous meetings with the Ivorians. The Leone Stars will be desperate for a repeat of the same result or even hope of grabbing all three points.

Sierra Leone got their Africa Cup of Nations off to a brilliant start, against the 35 matches unbeaten Desert Foxes of Algeria who carried the crown of defending champions of the tournament, with a goalless draw on Tuesday, January 11th, 2022.

It was an impressive performance by the Leone Stars in an encounter where their goalkeeper Mohamed N Kamara grabbed the Man of the Match award. The team will be looking for a similar performance from their shot-stopper plus a more improved performance from their team overall.

After a hard-fought win against Equatorial Guinea in their opening match, Ivory Coast will head into this game seeking an immediate qualification to the next stage if they have a win against Sierra Leone.

Ivory Coast is hoping to bring in star players Nicolas Pepe and Wilfred Zaha for this most anticipated must win group E encounter.

Sierra Leone star striker Alhaji Kamara is a doubt for this match after picking up a knock against Algeria in the 75th minute in their first match leaving three strikers in contention for that position. Augustus Kargbo, Augustine Williams, and Musa N Kamara are all possible players that John Keister can select from if he wants to do a straight swap.

There are wild wingers like Sulaiman B Kaikai and Issa Kallon to come in if Coach Keister opts to go with Kei Kamara up front.
Sierra leone will be without right back Osman kakay and center back David Sesay after both players te

FC KALLON U 12 WINS SUMMER VINTAGE U 12 COMPETITION

FC Kallon U12 won the Summer Vintage U12 Competition yesterday, September 19th, 2021, at the MAFA Playing Field Freetown beating Angry FC 1-0.

Coach Mata, FC Kallon Head Coach, selected young and dynamic players to face Angry FC in the grand final in which people were expecting a lot of talent exhibitions and competitive football to be displayed.

At the sound of the referee’s whistle to kick off the match, the lads of FC Kallon exhibited their passing and pressing game while at the same time trying to create chances to find the back of the net, but the well-organized Angry FC team repelled all their attacks skillfully converting their defensive position into an attack against FC kallon. While both teams were very impressive in their displays, the first half ended in a stalemate.

At the pep talk during the break, Coach Mata inspired her boys to play with more intensity in the second half in order to achieve the victory.

Kallon FC came out blazing in the second half, dominating possession of the ball for half an hour but could not score a goal.

After piling up pressure on the Angry FC team resilient players, Kallon FC, got a breather through Abdulai Kallon's effort in the 35th minute. The goal was enough to give Mata’s FC Kallon U12 side the giant trophy.

Individual Awards were given to different players with FC kallon players grabbing majority of the awards.

Yusif Sesay of FC Kallon emerged as the top scorer of the competition with 6 goals; Emmanuel Combay was named as the midfielder of the tournament, and goalkeeper Alfred Jones named best goalkeeper of the competition.

Four of these lads will join their seniors in today's semi-final match against Wilberforce FC in the WAFA searching for talent U15 competition at the Stadium Practicing Field at 4:30 pm with Coach Mata spearheading the campaign once again.
