LATEST UPDATE ON THE DEATH OF 12 YEAR OLD JEBBEH SOVULA
As investigation procceeds, the prime suspect for the shooting, identified to be one Abdulai Kallon popularly know as Kaywoh (a hunter) has been arrested and detained by the police for questioning few days ago while on the runs. Abdulai was arrested in one village called Motehun at the neighbouring Chiefdom of Jawei Kailahun District.
Thanks to SLP, the Baiima town chief, and the youth of Jawei Chiefdom for their unflinching endeavours in the course.
Few suspects including Jebbeh's Uncle Mohamed Kondeh who initially were helping the police with investigations have been released two days ago while Abdulai is currently helping the police with investigations at the Daru Divisional Headquarter in Kailahun District. Abdulai as of today 9th June, 2024 has not admitted to have committed the crime.
Jebbeh's case is controversial as two autopsy results revealed two different findings.
The first postmortem was conducted at the Kenema Government Hospital indicating that the 12 year old was gang-r***d.
The deceased was exhumed and the second autopsy was conducted by the only Pathologist in Sierra Leone Dr. Simon O. Koroma who's result indicated that the 12 year old was never r***d, but short with a gun identified to be a "Chakabula" (a short, but poisonous gun used by hunters to hunt bush animals.
7 (seven) bullets however, were removed from the body of the deceased during postmortem.
The second autopsy was triggered after sources revealed to the police as part of investigations that the 12 year old was short.
It can be recall that Jebbeh Sovula's co**se was abandoned along the Kailahun Highway between Baiima village in Mandu Chiefdom and Benduma Jawei Chiefdom Kailahun District two miles off the villages. Her body was discovered on the 16th May, 2024 by a motorbike rider who revealed the information to the family in Baiima village while searching for her in the morning hour of 6:30pm.
Jebbeh was staying with her elder sister Mariama Sovula a nurse attached to the Baiima Community Health Post (CHP). She was attending the Baiima Christian Academy (BCA) as she is seen in her beautifully white and blue-black uniform.
