During his rounding up on the debate on the Bill entitled: “THE STATE-OWNED ENTERPRISES AND GOVERNANCE ACT 2025”, in the Well of Parliament earlier today, Tuesday, 25th March instant, the Acting Leader of Government Business, Hon. Saa Emerson Lamina decried State Owned Enterprises (SOEs) for their weak corporate governance and commended the Bill under review for introducing a performance contract bond with the SOE Boards.
This he believes will develop a willingness of Government to change ownership and ensuring competitive neutrality as opposed to the days of former President Siaka Stevens where a single individual in the person of Jamil Sahid Mohamed monopolized almost every prospective State Owned Enterprise, including LEOCEM, Fisheries, the Gold and Diamond Evaluation Office (GDEO) and the Low Cost Housing project to name but a few.
