The Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (Slaj Sierra Leone) has called on authorities to mount an immediate investigation into the apparent brutal k!lling of journalist Samuel Brima Mattia.

This comes following the discovery of the lifeless body of the journalist in the Western Area Rural District Thursday 16th January 2024, under suspicious circumstances.

Indeed this is a worrying development in the Sierra Leone media landscape; sending shock waves about insecurity and vulnerability in the journalism profession.

This comes following a recent ban slammed on Journalist Melvin by the Speaker of Parliament on allegations on ‘malicious criticism’ against the decisions of Parliament. Now, according to the Speaker, the journalist was not banned for merely cruising Parliament, but for “insulting conduct” against MPs.
