Team Empire SL In Memoriam: Steady Bongo, the Pioneer of Sierra Leone Cultural Music

It is with a heavy heart that we report the passing Steady Bongo, the legendary ‘Godfather’ of Sierra Leonean cultural music, who sadly died in a motor vehicular accident. Steady Bongo was more than an entertainer. He was a leader of the community; a cultural leader and a versatile man committed to the mission of highlighting and safeguarding the cultural resources of the people of Sierra Leone through his craft.

Indeed, he has left a great void that is irreparable. To the family, relatives, colleagues, in-laws, friends and all Sierra Leoneans, we offer our sincere sympathies. His collection of pieces should be a source of inspiration for the present and future generations.

Peace be with you, Steady Bongo, Though you may be almost mute on earth, Your love for the people will continue to reverberate in their hearts and make them remember you all the time.
