🟢JAMES TENNEY – HARMONIC SPACES

Three months ago, in June, our dear colleagues recorded an amazing album dedicated to James Tenney's music.

First track, performed by Júlia Stahl Novosedlíková and Ivana Chrapková on one piano, four hands, part from Tenney's series of pieces based on the same hexatonal melody, called Chorale. Our version, called CHORALES for Harmonic Piano (four hands), harmonizes the melodic material on an instrument tuned in Just Intonation, hence that special sound you might hear, as 16:17:19:20:22:24:26:28 harmonics over fundamental of A.

Music of James Tenney, has been with me since my first experience with his Saxony, that I listened non-stop for about six hours, while sitting in awe in one tiny room during my studies in Vienna.
Since then, my appreciation not just for his music, but also for his writings grew from which began a dream to bring his music to our audience.
Creating this album was a long process of research of Tenney's ouvre, discussing it with lots of people who met him, or are scholars of his music.

The final result is this album – Harmonic Spaces.

It's filled with rarities never released before, such as, CHORALES for Harmonic Piano, Chromatic Canon (in JI tuning) or Timbre Ring, which was recorded by fabulous pianists Ivana Chrapková and Júlia Stahl Novosedlíková, low-string trio consisting of Jakub Chlepko, Ewa Barciok and David Sarkezi and the whole group of amazing people from EnsembleSpectrum.

I hope, you will enjoy this unique album as much as we enjoyed recording it for you and for what would have been Jim 90's birthday.

Traditionally, Majo Dzubak provided his sound engineering expertise. Liner notes were written by Michael Pisaro-Liu.

Yes, this is possible with the magic of electromagnetism. (Magnets, how do they work? :-o ) And thanks to one inventor from California, Mr. Ernest Bowtie, we have a handy device called an EBow which makes our wildest dreams possible.

👉PENTACHROMATIC STRINGS ON SPOTIFY🎉💚

Hey yo people, I finally got my newest album and my first album as a solo performer on Spotify.

You can expect about an hour of Ebow only music (sounds like - bzzzzbpt or uiiiiiiiiiiiii or gjjjjjjjjj).

🤘First piece is a must have, when doing Ebow music.
It's something like pasta water in Caccio e Pepe. True banger 👑of it's own kind – Music for Piano with Magnetic Strings by one of granddads of experimental music – Alvin Lucier (USA).
I recorded it with original Lucier's amount of five Ebows.

🎸Second piece, with such a long name, that even I have to copypaste it all the time – Relatívne dlho. Relatívne ticho. Idúc. Kĺzaním. Krokom. Skočmo. Stále. Okolo. Hlahol. Drnčiac (2023), translated by deepl as – Relatively long. Relatively quiet. Going. Sliding. Stepping. Leaping. Still. Around. Head (this one is totally wrong :D the word means sound of bell, that whoooh sound) . Droning (this one could also be better translated as rattling (would be awesome if this would target Maestro Sir Simon Rattle)).
Anyway...
Originally composed for experimental music festival JAMA for my performance there in 2023, I updated the setup of 3 Zithers, 1 Soprano Zither, 2 Acoustic Guitars and 2 Electroacoustic Harmoniums (Lorenzo and Delicia) with 1 Electric Guitar and a bow. I performed this piece with 9 Ebows.

Btw. the name of the album doesn't refer, that it was supported by Penta. If so, i would use more subtle name, something like 🏪BoryMall-chromatic BUY STOCKS Strings 💶 💶 💶
