"While the initial intention was to upcycle paper waste from Allegro’s OFFCUT initiative, a lack of suitable materials in their current stock led to the suggestion of using Enviro Wove Recycled paper (produced from 100% recycled content) instead. Paper offcuts from Allegro's other projects were used for the belly band packaging.

This process required more labour, dialogue, and innovation than a typical designer-printer relationship. But with aligned values and a willingness to think differently, we proved that sustainability-driven decisions can spark exciting creative possibilities."

To mark our milestone 60th anniversary, we collaborated with our printers Allegro Print Pte Ltd to create exclusive Practice Red Packets — designed by our Visual Comms lead Xiang Her Teh. 🧧

These red packets aren’t just beautiful—they embody our ethos! Their creation mirrors how we approach sustainability in our theatrical productions: early conversations and cross-domain collaboration help us identify the best sustainable solutions together.

For example, a "simple" decision about shape balances many considerations: UX (feedback from regular users aka our older colleagues 😅), design (fun interactive pop-up tabs!), waste management (reducing offcuts during design), and material availability. While the initial intention was to upcycle paper waste from Allegro’s OFFCUT initiative, a lack of suitable materials in their current stock led to the suggestion of using Enviro Wove Recycled paper (produced from 100% recycled content) instead. Paper offcuts from Allegro's other projects were used for the belly band packaging.

This process required more labour, dialogue, and innovation than a typical designer-printer relationship. 为了纪念实践剧场60周年这一里程碑，我们与印刷商 Allegro Print Pte Ltd 联手推出独家精美红包封。今年的红包封设计由视觉沟通经理 Xiang Her Teh 亲手操刀，倾注心血打造🧧

不仅外观精美，每个红包封的背后更承载了 #绿色实践 的理念，反映出我们在剧场制作中如何采取绿色决策。通过前期沟通并与多方合作，我们一起从可持续发展的角度找到了最佳的执行方案。

举个例子，红包封的形状看似是个简单的决定，但实际上背后涉及多个因素：用户体验（同事们的回馈😅）、外观设计（有趣的红包封口）、资源管理（减少印刷中的边角料）以及纸材的选择等。起初我们想使用Allegro的OFFCUT计划中的纸张废料，但由于库存中没有合适的纸材，最终我们选择了Enviro Wove再生纸（100%回收材料）。红包封的腹带包装纸则是采用了Allergo其他项目产生的边角料。

The Singapore Literature Prize is an annual celebration of literature in Singapore, encompassing poetry, creative non-fiction, and fiction across Chinese, Malay, Tamil, and English.
 
This program booklet presented a unique challenge as we conducted research and development to explore the use of a sticker sheet as a book cover. It’s our first time using this material in such a way, and we haven’t seen any other books that utilize this approach. The designer’s goal was to create thematic typography stickers, allowing readers to personalize the cover and make it truly their own.

[ʟᴀꜱᴀʟʟᴇ x ᴀʟʟᴇɢʀᴏ ᴘʀɪɴᴛ]
 
We’re back with a 2nd Edition of this experimental publication together with students. This time, new spot colour combinations that we’ve rarely seen are being used—Process Cyan, PANTONE 806 C, and PANTONE 876 C.
 
The printed images come out beautifully, and are quite captivating with the Cyan, Neon Pink and Copper colours.
 
For those new to us, this collaboration marks a unique experience for students to learn offset printing. We’re probably the first commercial printer engaging in a graphic design education program. It’s a special opportunity for us to share our expertise with the next generation of designers.
 
Even though it’s tough to manage our regular printing tasks along with special projects like this, we’re commitment to educating people about print production.
 
Designers and printers go hand in hand, and we want to help everyone, especially aspiring designers, in gaining a deeper understanding and appreciation of the printing process.

Offset printing is commonly used in commercial printing for larger projects due to cost-effectiveness. However, it is seldom experimented with or part of graphic design education.
 
This project allows students to explore offset printing using non-CMYK spot colours with the help of Allegro Print. Simple ‘test print’ images are created and printed using the Risograph and offset printing press to produce a small publication of collective sample experiments.
