: The Skin Research Institute of Singapore (SRIS) celebrated its 10th anniversary earlier this year! 🎉
‍‍‍‍
Established in 2013 as a virtual research institute dedicated to championing better skin health in Asia, SRIS later became a full-fledged physical institute focused on multidisciplinary skin research led by clinicians, researchers and engineers at the Agency for Science, Technology and Research, the National Healthcare Group and Nanyang Technological University Singapore—the institutions that jointly founded SRIS.
‍‍‍‍
Wildtype Media Group had the honour of creating SRIS’ commemorative publication, which featured the institute’s milestones through the years. This includes the launch of various innovations in dermatology and skin sciences, such as next-generation scar care at RNAscence Biotechnology and microbiome-focused interventions by ArrowBiome.
‍‍‍‍
Since 2020, our team has worked closely with SRIS to drive their science communication efforts on LinkedIn, where we’ve built a community of more than 4,000 followers. Having seen firsthand how SRIS is committed to their mission, we congratulate them on this remarkable milestone and look forward to seeing what the next chapter holds! 🙌

That’s a wrap for our trip to Kota Kinabalu! 🇲🇾
‍‍‍‍
Since Wildtype Media Group went fully remote, the annual company retreat has become a much-awaited event for all of our colleagues from Singapore, Malaysia, India and the Philippines. Though we often see each other on Zoom, there’s nothing quite like sharing a hearty meal together.
‍‍‍‍
On top of sampling a variety of Malaysian cuisine (including some Sabahan specials!), we also got to:
💡 Learn about the rich history of Sabah’s largest ethnic communities at Mari-Mari Cultural Village
🚢 Take a relaxing cruise in our very own party boat
🌅 Bask in the golden hour glow as we vibed to our colleague’s live DJ set

Meet Police Pal Ray! 🦁
‍‍‍‍
The brave lion cub joined forces with members of the Singapore Police Force (SPF) to help find a lost child in The Boy Without His Shoes, the first book in SPF’s Police Pal storybook series.
‍‍‍‍
💡 Designed and written by Wildtype Media Group, the interactive book helps young children understand how SPF contributes to maintaining safety and security in Singapore.
‍‍‍‍
The Police Pal storybook series was officially launched during the inaugural Police Pal carnival held last 24 June, where Minister of State, Ministry of Home Affairs & Ministry of Social and Family Development, Ms Sun Xueling conducted a reading session for preschoolers.
‍‍‍‍
Copies of the book are set to be distributed to preschools and public libraries across the country. Together with the National Library Board , SPF will also be hosting storytelling sessions where children can engage with SPF officers and receive free Police Pal activity booklets.
‍‍‍‍

Our first venture into SPD’s digital categories features the newly redesigned website of the Philip Yeo Initiative (PYI), a ground-up movement for aspiring changemakers hosted by NUS Enterprise. We began working with PYI last 2022 as they prepared to celebrate their 10th anniversary, which also marked the beginning of a new chapter for the organization.

💡 Challenged to give a fresh take on PYI’s mission to nurture innovative thinkers, Wey Wen Wong (Graphic Designer) exceeded expectations in crafting their new branding and bringing the website to life.
‍‍‍‍
This achievement wouldn’t be possible without the support of Shelly Liew (Art Director), Yipei Lieu (Junior Art Director) and our in-house strategic communications team, who played critical roles throughout the project’s evolution.

At Kyushu University, integrative knowledge isn’t a mere buzzword 💡

“The notion of ‘integrative knowledge’ is knowledge that synthesizes the entire spectrum of research—from the natural sciences, to the humanities and social sciences, and even design—to create the new insights and ways of thinking needed to solve the complex social issues facing mankind,” Dr. Tatsuro Ishibashi wrote in the new edition of Connect, Kyushu University’s official publication.

Wildtype Media Group brought this message to life for the magazine’s special cover, which also features Koichi Wakata—a renowned astronaut of the JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency) and Kyushu University alumnus 🧑🏼‍🚀

🌟 In 2014, Wakata became the first Japanese astronaut to serve as commander of the International Space Station (ISS). He also holds the record for the most time spent in space by a Japanese astronaut, logging a total of 504 days, 18 hours and 35 minutes.

The January-June 2023 edition of our flagship publication Asian Scientist Magazine focused on the mental health challenges that healthcare workers (HCWs) endured over the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly in low-resource settings across Asia.
‍‍‍‍
⭐ For her compelling and thought-provoking cover design, Art Director Shelly Liew was awarded gold for Best in Magazine Cover Design in the small/medium (S/M) company division.
‍‍‍‍
⭐️ Jill Arul and Denise Gonsalves, who co-authored the cover story “Caring for the Caregivers,” also took home silver for the S/M division in the Best in COVID-19 Reporting category.

Over three days, our remote teams from Singapore, Malaysia, India and the Philippines all came together to review the year that was and spend good quality time with each other.
‍‍‍‍
Together we:

🎯 set new goals for 2024
🚣 rowed through the white waters of Ayung River
🙏 visited ancient temples
🍽️ feasted on Balinese cuisine
💗 spread love and good vibes all around
‍‍‍‍
Though we’ve since said farewell to Bali and returned to our homes, the memories we’ve made over those three days have only strengthened our bond as a team. 💪 In fact, we’re already counting down the days until our next retreat!
