Guess what? I’m back 1 month later, to Tangled Pasta AGAIN! 😂

If you don’t already know, .pasta offers freshly made pasta using only natural ingredients - no food colouring or preservatives!

While they are not yet Halal-certified, they assured that their products are free from pork, lard and alcohol.

Ordering is a breeze; it’s self-service - simply scan the QR code on your table to place and pay for your order. The array of pasta options is truly impressive, spoiling us for choices.

In my previous review post, I enjoyed the delightful Pesto Besto (SGD $13.90). This time, I tried the Pinky Promise and Tom Yum Yum Yum, both also priced at SGD $13.90.

Despite trying them at different outlets, the quality remains consistent. Both pastas were cooked perfectly, with an al-dente texture.

For Pinky Promise, it’s Beetroot Pasta (or pick your preferred pasta type) served in creamy Mentaiko sauce with generous portion of salmon chunks. It’s topped with Ebiko for that burst of umami flavour and a perfectly cooked sous vide egg, adding a creamy texture with its runny yolk. While the Mentaiko sauce didn’t have that intense Mentaiko flavour I anticipated, the dish overall provides a creamy, briny and savoury experience.

Tom Yum Yum Yum was equally delightful. The pasta was coated in a creamy Tomato Yum sauce, accompanied by sautéed mushrooms, charred tomatoes, and chargrilled prawns. Ingredients were infused with strong Wok Hei flavour. The sauce provided a satisfying balance of spice and tanginess, not overly spicy and suitable for those with a lower tolerance for heat.

Feeling adventurous? Build your own pasta! Pasta portions start at 110g, priced from SGD $6.90 for the base, with additional add-ons available at extra cost. You can also top up $5.90 for combo (side + drink).

While Tangled’s pasta may not be extraordinary, they are certainly above average. If you haven’t try Tangled Pasta, you absolutely must! It’s a great alternative to Tipo Pasta bar, and at a more wallet-friendly price point!

Hainanese approved!✊🏻 If you are enjoying Hokkien Mee at Swee Guan’s, you might wanna also head over to Kwong Satay, which is located to just a street away, and enjoy some lip smacking juicy Satay!

Kwong Satay has been around for more than 60 years, way back to those days where Mr Wong Chee Kwong’s grandfather peddled his trishaw and sell satay at Katong. Two decades later, Mr Wong took over and continued their family business at Geylang, with no change to their original recipe.

Kwong’s Satays are definitely more aromatic than others that I have tried elsewhere. This is my 3rd time coming back again, and their satay standard is still the same. Their satay are marinated with lot of ingredients such as Saffron (Yes you didn’t read wrongly, they are one of the rare stalls that uses Saffron), lemon grass, tumeric, candle nut, galangal, cumin, fennel, as well as cinnamon, star anise and nutmeg, while shallots and garlic are added for piquancy in the marinate mix.

For Satay gravy, in addition to peanuts; lemon grass, blue ginger, candle nuts, garlic and onions are added, brewed together with belachan, and finely grounded to a velvety blend. As this supposed to be a Hainanese recipe, they’ll usually top the satay sauce with a dollop of pineapple puree boiled with sugar, an Peranakan-inspired recipe which has a sweet yet zesty pineapple sauce blended into their peanut dip.

This time round, I ordered all pork belly satay. As always, nicely charred, juicy and succulent! Their pork belly satay is really a winner! Good fat to meat ratio, grilled to melt-in-your-mouth perfection! Pork, chicken, mutton satay are other satay options available but their pork belly satays still topped my choice. A bit more pricey but the portion is slightly bigger than the normal ones.

😋 Definitely worth a try if you haven’t!

Back again to Swee Guan Hokken Mee for dinner! IMO one of the better Hokkien Mee in Singapore!

The unique difference in Swee Guan is that they used charcoal fire to fry their Hokkien Mee. Super Gao Wok Hei! Nothing much to fault in Swee Guan’s Hokkien Mee. Considering that the price is slightly steeper than the usual Hokkien Mee at coffee shops, I only wished the portion to be bigger for $8 😁. Anyways there’s still generous amount of ingredients in this SGD$8 plate. 口口都是好料! If the portion is not enough for your big appetite, they also have $10 and $15, $20, $30 portion lah.

✓ Wok Hei!
✓ Noodles were well cooked. Not overly dry or too watery for it’s gravy.
✓ Lots of fresh ingredients
✓ Need to queue, however queue moves pretty fast. Waiting time for food to be at least 15-20mins.

Go try if you haven’t! You are welcome! 😎

[Halal food] The Min Jiang Kuehs from are always a delight to enjoy for my afternoon tea! I love that they have traditional Min Jiang Kueh and fun creative fillings pancakes. 🤤

Here's a quick guide if this is your first time trying their traditional MJK:

1. Choose skin
They have three traditional MJK crust flavours to choose from:
Original, Charcoal, and Matcha.

2. Choose your filling
Pick fillings between Peanut, Coconut, Red Bean and Sesame fillings.

I had the original pancake crust. Their MJK pancake are fluffy, warm and so yummy!

✓ 𝗖𝗼𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘂𝘁: Old school classic. Bright orangy color from the red sugar. Subtle fragrance and juicy fresh desiccated coconut fillings. Yum!

✓ 𝗥𝗲𝗱 𝗕𝗲𝗮𝗻: Very smooth, creamy sweet red bean paste with slight hint of smokiness! I think pairing it with Matcha pancake crust will be perfect, and reminds us of the Japanese Matcha Azuki bean dessert.

✓ 𝗣𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘂𝘁: This is the ultimate MJK classic, how can you not have? Generous chunky yet creamy peanut filling and doesn't falls apart like those dry powdery peanut ones at some other shops. So nutty, so wholesome.⭐⭐⭐

✓ 𝗦𝗲𝘀𝗮𝗺𝗲: It's slightly uncommon to find sesame flavoured ones at MJK stalls. Their black sesame ones are intensed and earthy. Grainy and nutty goodness, people who love anything sesame will like this! It's not bad though people with sweet tooth might like it to be slightly sweeter.

These Min Jiang Kueh snacks are tasty, filling, and affordable, priced less than SGD$2. Among all the traditional flavours, the peanut filling won my heart. I heard that their durian filling pancakes are always selling like hot cakes, I never get to try them because it's always sold out. 😂

Drop by and get a few of these freshly made MJK for you and your loved ones to try. Let me know what's your favourite! 😋

You might have come across videos circulating on social media featuring the viral Korean or Japanese pancakes shaped as a 10 won or 10 yen coin. These pancakes have gained significant popularity, with a recent emergence in Singapore – a local twist on the trend called the “10 Cent Pancake.”

🪙 The 10 Cent Pancake is priced at SGD $5 and is reminiscent of the old Singapore 10 cent coin, but much larger, around the size of my palm – quite amusing!

The pancake batter itself is surprisingly not bad, boasting a delightful toasty flavour. What makes it even more indulgent is the generous filling of warm, stretchy mozzarella cheese inside.

In addition to their cheese pancake, also offers a selection of tea and coffee, perfect for pairing to balance out the richness of the cheese.

While it’s uncertain if they’ll introduce other pancake fillings in the future, cheese enthusiasts in the vicinity might want to pay them a visit and experience the joy of that satisfying cheese puuuuuuuull. 🧀

Happy Mother’s Day to my mama and all the Super Moms out there! ❤️

Decided to bring my parents to try , it’s their first time here and I am glad that they enjoyed this Taiwanese style hotpot.

In case you haven’t been to Cou Cou, you should give it a try! Many broth to choose from, but this time round I only ordered Pig stomach broth (猪肚鸡汤), a soup which my parents are more familiar with.

For first timers to Cou Cou, you might wanna take note:

1. Suggest that you do reservation. If you walk-in, come by earlier to get your queue number and go shopping. Walk-in queue number during peak dining period, expect approx 1-1.5hrs waiting time. 😖

2. Compared to HDL which has options of half size and full size portion for hot pot dishes, Cou Cou hot pot dishes are all in full size. Also the hotpot broth contains quite a bit of ingredients in it, so unless you are very hungry, don’t over order.

3. Suggest that you don’t have to order vegetables because each dish already had some vegetables on it.

4. Free flow Lu Rou Fan (Taiwanese braised pork rice), yummy but don’t get too loaded with carbs 😂

5. Free milk tea, free dessert, free slushy. Try their slushy! Refreshing!

6. Bring along your DBS/ POSB card if you have it! There is a 1 for 1 promotion for all seasonal Ala carte menu exclusively for DBS/ POSB card members. This promotion valid from 1 May 2024 to 30 April 2025, at all Cou Cou Hotpot outlets in Singapore.

Overall it’s a great experience! Cosy ambiance, great friendly service, food was fresh and good quality, food presentation was nice. Price point similar to HDL. Definitely surpass my expectation, of course we will be back again! 😍

I’m kicking myself for not trying Tangled Pasta sooner, but I’m thrilled I finally did! Tangled Pastas offers freshly made pasta using only natural ingredients — no food coloring or preservatives!

Ordering is a breeze; it’s self-service—simply scan the QR code on your table to place and pay for your order. The array of pasta options is truly impressive, spoiling us for choice.

We had the Pesto Besto (SGD $13.90), and it was delightful! They used spinach pasta which was coated in Pesto sauce, cooked to perfection with an al-dente bite.

The pesto had a delightful nutty, herby flavor, complemented by generous servings of salmon chunks, almonds, garlic, and a perfectly cooked sous vide egg, adding a creamy touch with its runny yolk.

For those with hearty appetites, consider adding $5.90 to turn your meal into a combo (side + drink). We tried the fried Tater Tots and Fried Oyster Mushrooms—both were hot and crispy, perfectly paired with their delicious dipping sauces.

Overall, while Tangled’s pastas may not be extraordinary, they are certainly above average, especially for a small eatery. I’ll definitely be returning to sample their other pasta offerings.

Discover this hidden gem tucked away beneath one of the HDB blocks in Ang Mo Kio! You've likely heard about the renowned Banh Mi Saigon in Ang Mo Kio, and it took me a while to seize the opportunity to try it. Despite its longstanding popularity all over social media, I figured it's never too late to give it a go, right?

Faced with an abundance of options, this place not only offers a diverse range of Banh Mi but also features a menu with various Vietnamese dishes such as Pho, Vietnamese Spring Rolls, Vietnamese Coffees, Coffee Flan, and more.

The majority of individuals in the queue opted for Banh Mi with Grilled BBQ Pork or roasted pork (just so you know, there's also a Vegetarian Banh Mi option available!). However, I chose to go for a different option because I don't feel the need to review an item that has already been extensively reviewed by many others Lol.

I decided to try the "Special Great - Banh Mi Cha Lua" ($8.80), not entirely sure what that entails, haha. The baguette was freshly toasted, offering a warm and crispy texture. The fillings were incredibly generous, resembling a combination of flavourful pork roll or pork loaded with cold cut ham, pork floss, crunchy vegetables, cilantro, spring onions, chopped chilis, and spices. While I can't vouch for its authenticity compared to those in Vietnam since I haven't tried one there, it tasted quite delightful and was undoubtedly a great value for money!

There was a continuous queue from the moment I placed my order until I finished my meal, even though it was close to the shop's closing time. However, the food was prepared quickly, so there's no need to be concerned about long waiting times. The shop is equipped with small tables and stools at children's height, creating a nostalgic roadside experience reminiscent of Vietnam.

Definitely coming back again to try their other Banh Mi options and Pho. Any Vietnamese food lovers here? Where is your favourite go-to place to get your Vietnamese food fix?

Visited to MiMi Korean BBQ restaurant with my friends the other time. Jinjja not bad! This place serves affordable Korean BBQ buffet at $29.50+ per adult and $19.50+ per child. Additionally, they have a lunch set promotion available at $15, featuring a diverse selection of lunch sets.

Opting for their à la carte menu, we chose one of MiMi’s premium meat set, which the meat was exceptionally fresh and tender. We also savored two other dishes - the Kimchi Pancake ($25) and the Stir-Fried Spicy Chicken with Cheese ($38). Both dishes are absolute must-tries!

The Kimchi Pancake boasted a delightful contrast in texture, with a tender interior and crispy edges, complemented by a mild spiciness and the tangy umami taste of the Kimchi, providing a nice kick.

The savoury Stir Fried Spicy Chicken with Cheese was quite a hit and addictive, featuring chicken coated in a flavorful sauce that wasn't overly spicy topped with delicious cheese. 🧀 Cheese lovers are in for a treat, as the dish delivers a delightful gooey cheese pull. 맛있어요!

What's more, MiMi Korean BBQ restaurant generously serves free-flow delicious Ban Chan with any dish ordered from their Menu, offering 6 different types of Ban Chan which changes daily so you can experience a variety of dishes.

Friendly service and the staffs were very attentive. Free yoghurt drink before you leave too! Will be back again another time when I crave for Korean BBQ! 🤤

Definitely coming back to Palsaik Korean BBQ!

Checked out this Korean BBQ restaurant for dinner, which is located at Mid Valley Southkey (Total of 9 outlets in Malaysia). Long queue, with a waiting time of approx 1 hour. If you plan to dine there, it's advisable to make a walk-in reservation beforehand. You can then use the waiting time to engage in some shopping, and return for dinner once they notify you.

We ordered the Award winning Palsaik’s signature set (RM188) that comes with 8 uniquely marinated pork 八色套餐(Ginseng, Wine, Pine leaves, Garlic, Herb, Curry, Soy Bean, Hot Pepper). Not mind-blowing but yummeh! Pork belly were tender and fresh. No gamey stench. Well marinated! If I were to pick a favourite, it would be the Pine leaves marinate, which gave a subtle nutty flavour to the pork belly.

The set comes with a Spicy Seafood Hot Pot (alternatively, you can opt for the Soybean Paste Hot Pot or the Kimchi Pork Hot Pot). It features a generous assortment of seafood, including flower crab, mussels, Lala, and prawns. The soup, while not excessively spicy, carries a pleasant sweetness derived from the seafood. However, this dish lacks a significant wow factor.

Also ordered the Seafood Pancake. Online reviews were somewhat mixed. Nonetheless, I personally found it enjoyable. Seafood ingredients were abundant, and the pancake had a perfect thickness and very crispy!

Order the Signature Bokkeumbap Stir Fried Rice and Marinated Beef Rib Eye too. Fried rice boasts delightful flavors, although I wished the portion were more generous. My friends thoroughly enjoyed the Marinated Beef Rib Eye. The dish was expertly grilled, enhancing the flavors and preserving the meat's succulence.

At Palsaik Korean BBQ restaurants, patrons are treated to delectable complimentary and unlimited Ban Chan, a tradition observed in many Korean dining establishments. To complete the Korean culinary experience, indulge in some Korean Soju or Makgeolli, because what's a Korean meal without these delightful beverages?

Total bill was RM539.40. There's 6 of us, so RM89.90/pax, which is approx ONLY SGD$25.80?! Bruhhh, I even had a few glasses of Soju & Makgeolli?? Damn, what a steal! 😍

Recently, I stumbled upon a stall at People's Park Food Centre that specializes in Hainan Fen, operated by two Hainanese sisters. Being the curious Hainanese myself, I decided to give it a try, and ordered the Hainan Noodle 海南粉 (卤汁) (SGD$4).

I have tried the authentic Hainanese Noodles in Hainan, Haikou, those had that tangy and pungent flavor of fermented bamboo shoots topping. However, this Singaporean rendition pleasantly surprised me by deviating from that expectation.

While it does include fermented bamboo shoots, they lack the distinctive odor and sourness typically associated with them. Instead, the sour element is introduced through pickled vegetables. The stall owners used thick bee hoon noodles, drenched in braised gravy which were a little like a mix between lor mee and beef noodles. Combined with peanuts and tender pork strips (you can choose beef strips too), it forms a simple yet flavourful, comforting bowl of Hainan Fen, perfect for chilly days or nights. The addition of their chili is essential. The lil’ chili really enhances the overall flavor of the noodle gravy. Despite my limited tolerance for spice, I was determined to experience the authentic way of eating it, hence I requested only a small amount of chili for a subtle kick.

A simple yet delightful bowl, I am looking forward to revisiting if I am around the area again.

AngMoh Dumplings anyone? Kapitan.sg stands out as one of the rare authentic Slavic restaurants in Singapore. Run by a Russian family that has made Singapore their home since 2004, this restaurant reflects their bold venture and commitment. Investing their savings, they’ve brought Eastern European cuisines to a fresh audience in Singapore, while also cater to the appetites of Europeans yearning for the comforting taste of homecooked Slavic meals. Being an adventurous individual, I was naturally thrilled to explore Slavic cuisine.

Tried the following:
Pelmeni/Vareniki: These Russian & Ukrainian dumplings have many fillings to pick from. Indecisive? Choose the combo platter (Black Bull, Minty Ram, Wild Hog, Golden Hen, Siberian 8ights, Salmon, Paneer) to savor a bit of everything! Notably, these dumpling skins tend to be a lil' thicker compared to Asian dumplings. Soft chewy exterior and a strong flavourful interior. Pretty interesting.

Mushroom Cheese Bliny: Russian pancakes made of wheat flour. My initial choice was salmon filling, which was sold out. Ordered the white mushroom cheese ones instead, it turned out to be a great decision— delicious and creamy, a perfect combination!

Cheburek: National dish of Crimean Tatar cuisine. It’s like empanadas, filled with thin layer of pork/ beef & blue cheese/ Cheese & white mushroom/ 4 cheese. Crispy, flaky exterior encased with savory filling. Salsa on the side helped to balance the flavour.

Medovik: This multi layered Slavic honey cake was soft, luscious and perfectly balanced in flavour. Sheer heaven in every bite!

There’re Happy Hour at Kapitan restaurant and they also brew their own Russian Vodka. Kapitan restaurant also serves crepe buffet, available every Sunday 1130am to 1pm (FREE FLOW of crepes, toppings and coffee) @ $17.90/pax!

The owners Mr Vadim and Mrs Alena were very welcoming, sincere and patient, taking time to introduce the food and engage with guests. Looking for a unique experience? Come by and try some authentic East Euporean food!

If you don't already know, just launched her own Nasi Lemak Brand: Pink Coconut Nasi Lemak. This dish is based on her family recipe, and she spent more than 6 months to perfect it through many rounds of R&D. If not for my friend, I almost didn't consider trying, for obvious reasons—I'm not a fan of the color pink.

Didn't set my expectations high, considering Xia Xue's lack of experience in F&B business. However, the lower expectations resulted in a pleasant surprise—it actually turned out to be quite good!

The Nasi Lemak arrived in an adorable pink box. Each box features a vibrant pink-hued nasi lemak rice, naturally dyed with beetroot. It includes two heart-shaped fried fish cakes in collaboration with BoBo, accompanied by crunchy, sweet-savory Ikan Bilis, Peanut, and Sambal. The dish also offers a protein option, which you can choose between the Original Chicken Wings, Prawn Paste Chicken Wings, Boneless Chicken Cutlet, or the popular crowd-pleaser, Beef Rendang.

Nasi Lemak rice were fluffy and infused with pandan and coconut. The heart-shaped fried fish cakes lived up to expectations for the freshness & quality, typical of Singapore's homegrown brand BoBo, renowned for their fishballs and fishcakes. I enjoyed the unique twist of the Sweet-Savoury Ikan Bilis Peanuts, which was kinda different from the usual salty ones. Hae Bee Hiam tasted ok, not spicy at all, but I found its addition quite unnecessary.

For protein, we ordered a box with Beef Rendang, another with Prawn Paste chicken wings, and add-on the original chicken wings. Beef Rendang was tender and flavorful, a must-try for beef lovers. Between chicken wings flavours, I preferred prawn paste ones, although they were slightly over-fried; fortunately, the prawn paste flavor redeemed them. The Sambal presents a delightful mix of spicy, sweet, and savory notes. This combination provides a well-balanced and bold taste experience when paired with Nasi Lemak.

If you're a fan of Nasi Lemak, .sg is worth a try! The meal was enjoyable, but I do wish the portion size justified the slightly steep price of $9.90. While there's no physical store, you can order through FoodPanda or GrabFood

HIDDEN GEM, and it's 24hours! If you are at Yishun area, you might wanna check out .o.five_bcm

This shop boasts a charming interior adorned with vintage tiles and retro decors. I came by for dinner and tried a couple of dishes.

Mushroom Minced Meat Noodle (Dry): Hard to resist BCM when the shop's signage is practically shouting it! Springy noodles with slight firm bite. Tossed in a fragrant blend of chili, vinegar, and lard. Generous portions of ingredients, with pig liver impressively cooked to tender perfection despite being on a thicker slice.

Big Prawn Noodles (Dry): Decent bowl of prawn noodles ft. large fresh prawns, tender pork slices and fish cakes. Accompanied by a small bowl of super GAO prawn broth, which I preferred it lighter.

Laksa with cockles: Was skeptical on the taste of their Laksa when it was served, due to its somewhat muted broth color. But oh boy, never judge a book by its cover! The Laksa broth turned out to be rich, creamy, and bursting with flavor! Thick Bee Hoon were nicely cooked. Topped with fresh cockles, Tau Pok, fish cake, and half-boiled egg. If cockles ain't your thing, you can request a substitution with fishballs.

Signature Popiah: Pretty creative take from the regular popiah, and nicer! Super crispy, filled with coarsely chopped prawn pieces and minced pork. ADDICTIVE!

Signature Wonton: A classic crispy wonton, filled with minced pork.

Curry Chicken Rice: Good Curry, very lemak! Chicken was fork-tender, and potatoes were perfectly cooked.

Homemade Aiyu honey: A blend of sour and sweet flavors. Honey isn’t overpowering. Refreshing for summer weather!

Homemade Wintermelon Birdnest: A pleasant drink with "bird nest" agar agar bits, reminiscent of the nostalgic bird nest beverages I usually find at Pasar Malams.

Overall service was prompt and staffs were friendly. Affordable pricing in an aircon environment. 505 BCM sell breakfast sets too! As this shop opens 24 hours, the next time you and your friends are looking for a supper spot, consider heading to 505 BCM!

Thank you 505 BCM and scalemicroinfluencer for your kind invite!

A delightful Sunday brunch at the charming Korean-fusion restaurant and gastro bar, Tigress, nestled in Somerset. The ambiance was great, aesthetically pleasing, featuring a tropical urban jungle theme, complemented by wooden furniture and a rustic setting.

I ordered the Korean Honey Soy Chicken Burger ($22) from their Brunch Menu, served with crispy fries and fresh salad. Generous sized crispy chicken cutlet coated in Tigress's signature Korean Honey Soy sauce, adorned with caramelized onions. The cutlet, well-marinated and crispy on the outside, retained its juiciness within.

Also tried the Tigress Ribeye Rice Bowl ($22), a delightful combination of charred Ribeye Bulgogi Meat, creamy scrambled eggs, sautéed mushrooms, fresh lettuce, tomatoes, Kimchi, spring onion, sesame, and chili flakes. The pairing of kimchi with bulgogi added a delightful balance, which helped to mellow the jelakness of the bulgogi.

Dessert for my 2nd stomach! Haha! Satisfied my sweet tooth with the Korean Fusion Teacake with Korean Black Soy Sesame cream ($9). While enjoyable, I hoped for a more pronounced black soy sesame flavor.

Finished off with a glass of Korean sweet ice coffee ($7). The traditional sweet Korean Mocha was creamy, perfectly balanced, and not overly sweet.

Overall, Tigress offers a unique twist to Korean fusion dishes. The venue is equipped with billiard tables for added entertainment, making it an excellent choice for family and friends. Weekdays feature executive Korean lunch sets for lunch, as well as ala carte food menu and alcoholic drinks. A must-try for those seeking a delightful blend of Korean flavors, making it an ideal spot for gatherings, company events, and celebrations!

Thank you Tigress for the kind invite!
